- Berkana, on 03/21/2008, -1/+7This is one part of our national defense that has been underfunded in proportion to its vulnerability. Our military over-spends on advancing its overwhelming strengths, such as air power, but has long neglected our network vulnerabilities. I'm glad we're finally paying attention to this need; I only fear that it is way late.
- bjornski, on 03/21/2008, -0/+2Maybe he can help them find their "missing" e-mails.
- cosmictap, on 03/21/2008, -0/+2Protectin' Murika on the Internets is hard, he'll work hard. Even on the weekend, like Paulson did.
- labboy, on 03/21/2008, -0/+2I give him 3 months
- inactive, on 03/24/2008, -0/+2That's pathetic.
Get a life. - lexbaby, on 03/21/2008, -0/+2Not only that, but the DHS is messing this up. From TFA:
"Beckstrom's appointment raises a number of questions. ... DHS only recently appointed Greg Garcia, ... to be assistant secretary for cyber-security and telecommunications"
So now we have a "top advisor" and an "assistant secretary for cyber-security and telecommunications." Who is in charge of what, if anything? - cygnus2112, on 03/21/2008, -1/+2Activate Skynet!

- bincoder, on 03/21/2008, -1/+2How about Allowing the people of the US to defend against cyber attack. Plenty of amerikans have the knowledge to knock attackers offline or worse. It would help matters if we could actually legally do that without being thrown in jail and labeled as 'a terrorist' and not be forced to sit on our hands, paying taxes, and being good little sheeple.
- rodnovca, on 03/21/2008, -0/+1He started a company that wrote a wiki... he's obviously qualified to advise the government on computer security.
- terminalcode, on 07/31/2008, -0/+1is there another link to the video, might just be my vpn or something but couldn't get it to load
- terminalcode, on 07/31/2008, -0/+1Now I do agree change is needed, and having many organizations that do similar but yet different things might not be a bad idea...
its weird i would have thought that all of these things would of been put in place by now... or maybe some or most of them are but we just aren't doing our job.. apparently we are not, since Pres. Bush signed back in January to come up with new practices and all of the changes that need to happen..
I know first hand since atleast 1998 that the "important" agencies have been getting hit like by cyber attacks from other countries, I have heard them first hand even before they have been officially released to the public..
I think that redundancy should also play a role, i hope we have that setup where if Guy A goes down, Guy B, C or F can take over responsibilities of certain roles.. you know kinda like a network...lol - gettophilosophr, on 03/21/2008, -1/+1Call John McClane!
- karolisonline, on 03/21/2008, -1/+1it is very sad, they will try to hunt as down. after what anonymous did, they understood where real power lays in nowadays.
- cygnus2112, on 03/21/2008, -1/+1I had a false flag moment this morning. I went to go do #2, but #1 came out. How stealthy.
- terminalcode, on 07/31/2008, -1/+1Yeah, I was reading about this recently a couple of days ago.. .real interesting story, a forum was talking about it alittle more i guess.

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=9030650109 ... - wiretapped, on 03/21/2008, -3/+2"The Bush administration is planning to tap a Silicon Valley entrepreneur to head a new inter-agency group charged with coordinating the federal government's efforts to protect its computer networks from organized FALSE FLAG cyber attacks."
- cheerio, on 03/21/2008, -3/+2So you mean those Air Force commercials that say they protect America aren't actually protecting America? Or is our government not considered America too? Or is this another elaborate scam to put money into pockets of Bush cronies. I'll bet the later.
- sirclown82, on 03/22/2008, -1/+0Who cares
