- rajj007, on 09/06/2009, -2/+7Viruses come from evil programming codes done by evil hackers who want easy money and who are really lazy to work harder..

- asian programmer. - fungie5, on 09/06/2009, -0/+3@rajj007-
I wouldn't use the word lazy to describe hackers....it actually takes a lot of work to find vulnerabilities in software and then come up with ways to exploit them. These guys got good at programming because they worked hard at it. They're mostly university graduates - you don't get that far by being lazy.
Instead, I'd say they're definitely greedy...they want lots of money now, and they are willing to break laws and other people's PCs to get it...that's greed. - anthonylitz, on 09/06/2009, -0/+3I was hoping for the article to be about biological viruses too.
- inactive, on 09/06/2009, -0/+3"Phishing attacks also remain high, at 33 per cent of all viruses. " Since when are phishing attacks considered Viruses??
This article is retarded. I bet those other %'s that come from brazil are juse U.S. COMPUTERS running through Brazil PROXY SERVERS, ..come'on there everwhere, open, and transparent... - saucy05, on 09/06/2009, -0/+2You know you can always google it.
http://www.scientificamerican.com/article.cfm?id=e ... - mrBitch, on 09/06/2009, -0/+2But the antivirus software doesn't protect you against botnet malware :
http://www.pcworld.com/article/170546/is_your_pc_b ...
" .. Sadly, the lack of antivirus alerts isn't an indicator of a clean PC," says Nazario. "Antivirus software simply can't keep up with the number of threats. It's frustrating [that] we don't have significantly better solutions for the average home user, more widely deployed." - Stevanoski, on 09/06/2009, -0/+2How avian/swine flu jumps from an animal specie to humans.
- gmuslera, on 09/05/2009, -2/+4Come from or relay from? Is not the same sources of intrusion attempts than the source of spam or virus. Intrusion attemps means that the person originating it is usually there, with a remote shell or in person, or at least with a wide enough range of tools ready for his remote access, or with open proxies. Spam and virus means that botnets have the majority of installations in those 2 countries, they dont start the spam, just relay them.
- fungie5, on 09/06/2009, -0/+2Why would you think that? Asia (and particularly India) has become a leader in software development and programming. That region produces a huge number of programmers every year. All the major software companies recruit from that region.

- erikwithaknotac, on 09/06/2009, -1/+2And here I thought I'd have some insight as to how biological viruses come about....derr.
- mrBitch, on 09/06/2009, -0/+1@ DarkShroud, RE: " .. if the virus was from an Asia/India programmer it would crash before it could infect the host PC."
You're implying that software from India is sub-standard?
Microsoft has a significant percentage of it's software products developed COMPLETELY in India.
In fact, large chunks of Microsoft products you use every day were developed in India.
Microsoft started shifting a large chunk of it's applications development departments over to India starting from late 2005 :
http://blog.taragana.com/index.php/archive/microso ...
" .. investing $1.7 billion over the next four years, and increasing local headcount by 3,000 to 7,000-level.
The investment will be in line with the growing importance of India’s role in the global economy, as well as its emerging significance within Microsoft." - inactive, on 09/06/2009, -0/+1I can find a site that proves what I said as well.
