- krisrm, on 05/19/2009, -0/+51"more than 3,000 infected Web sites"
Ok, now I'm *really* freaking out... that's almost a 0th of a percentage point of the entire internets! - uptwolait, on 05/19/2009, -0/+21The beads on my abacus were moving really slow yesterday, and now my slide rule is hung up on pi. Frickin' viruses.
- thredden, on 05/19/2009, -0/+16data or it didnt happen
- w00tnot, on 05/19/2009, -1/+16Why thank you for being so thoughtful.
:D - inactive, on 05/19/2009, -1/+13Like, right here? I'm not seeing anything. Maybe I need to install codecs to see it. Good thing I am an intelligent computer user, or I would be screwed.
- 3Den, on 05/19/2009, -0/+11I've seen this.... it ends up getting FTP credentials (from local config files of popular FTP software) .. which often means access to live sites, and then uses those credentials (from another location) to drop all kinds of nastiness into the live sites. It's evil.
Very clever too.
Webmasters everywhere - beware. Don't use FTP - use SFTP. Change passwords on a regular basis. Keep track of what changes on your site so you don't have surprises. etc etc. - IntruderII, on 05/19/2009, -1/+11Tip: Be sure all applications your browser trusts are up to date. Especially Java.
- smackydoodle, on 05/19/2009, -1/+9Happened up top... wasn't funny then either!
- theberlindoctor, on 05/19/2009, -1/+8Is this something noscript can prevent?
- sexybobo, on 05/19/2009, -0/+5It only does this if you are already infected with the virus.
- blah247, on 05/19/2009, -4/+9Guess we better not use Google!
- Vexelius, on 05/19/2009, -0/+5Yes, as it could block any tainted flash file. However, this vulnerability also affects PDF files.
- sloach, on 05/20/2009, -0/+4Sorry any chance of more detail? I run both of these and had noticed some ads recently appeared.
- Contradictions, on 05/19/2009, -0/+4So the answer isn't really yes, is it?
- inactive, on 05/19/2009, -3/+7lol wtf i thought you said you got two trojans in one mouth and were being all gay and *****.... but then i was wondering why the reply wasnt witty or clever...
- sloach, on 05/20/2009, -0/+4For those that are interested, here's the most detailed link I found regarding the story:
http://hackademix.net/2009/05/04/dear-adblock-plus ... - smackydoodle, on 05/19/2009, -4/+7No offense, but that was stupid.
- sodoh, on 05/19/2009, -2/+5I think a lot of people have removed noScript after the recent SNAFU of the developers having their plugin hack another plugin (adblock) so they could show adverts. They reverted it when they were found out but the damage to credibility was done.
- coldeh, on 05/19/2009, -4/+7Our hosting got hacked at work, and the guy did a similar thing to our site(we have since changed hosting, they got it in the early days). The hacker left a page on our website in /components which was like a "signature" of his work, linking back to a hackers website.
I followed the links and did a little bit of work, managed to find a post on another website which he was registered on with the same Username and got his company address.
Idiot. - inactive, on 05/19/2009, -0/+3agreed

- dwg3333, on 05/19/2009, -0/+2There are some things for free or is it, there is nothing free? Something like that. :)
- inactive, on 06/01/2009, -0/+1SFTP==SecureFTP
- vwvan, on 05/29/2009, -0/+1Now Google has removed their popularity results from queries.
Wonder if it works in Chrome??? or maybe that's the plan. - lolwutpear, on 05/19/2009, -0/+1That's what they want you to do.
- inactive, on 06/08/2009, -0/+1you need some free screen savers and smileys to go with it.
- funkyloki, on 05/28/2009, -0/+1You are referring to a different vulnerability. In that case, it is only Adobe that is affected, and only if you allow Adobe Acrobat to run javascripts. Foxit is not affected.
This topic is about a different vulnerability. - funkytaco, on 06/05/2009, -0/+1no.
- funkytaco, on 06/05/2009, -0/+1use firefox's help menu to report sites
- dsfjvhbd, on 05/19/2009, -0/+1Is Foxit also vulnerable or only Acrobat reader?
- phenry, on 05/27/2009, -0/+1Ixquick it is then!
- Vexelius, on 05/19/2009, -1/+2Well... it can be taken as a "yes", as it's easier to be infected through a flash file, while in the case of a PDF, you'd need to download and open the file. And if I understand correctly how this vulnerability works, it won't work if you are using, for example Foxit Reader -or any other PDF software- instead of Adobe Reader.
But you're right. The answer isn't a complete yes. - inactive, on 06/08/2009, -0/+1If you cant handle the big ocean, retreat to your little safe pond.
- svivian, on 05/20/2009, -1/+2Depends how popular those sites are. If Wikipedia and Facebook were in those 3000, then you should be freaking out.
- themastersb, on 05/20/2009, -0/+1I wish there were a way to report google search results or something like that
- been2heaven, on 05/20/2009, -0/+1So hackers turned their attention from MS to Google?
- inactive, on 05/19/2009, -1/+1firefox plus wall of text... wheres the wall of text... lol
- vertigelt, on 05/19/2009, -1/+1TINSTAAFL
- ultrafez, on 05/19/2009, -3/+3I hate the way how you consider yourself a better person just because you use a "better computer". By the fact that you said "when I had a PC" (which may I remind you, means "personal computer") I assume you are using a Mac, which by definition is a personal computer. You may not know, but a Mac is not infallible to viruses any more; why would Apple recommend that Mac users install antivirus software?
- ProfessorY, on 05/19/2009, -2/+2"Security experts say that if you're using a fully-patched system with up-to-date security software, you should be protected from these attacks."
Its true, so why the hell do people bother about these things. Been computing for years, never found a virus or been infected by spyware that couldn't be removed... - seattlerock, on 05/19/2009, -3/+3I got two trojans in one month just from browsing music sites, I wonder if it's connected
- CLAWC, on 05/19/2009, -1/+1Google "Gumblar"
- inactive, on 05/19/2009, -9/+7FFs. Why are people still stupid enough to get a virus? You stupid bimbos.
- stinklez, on 05/19/2009, -2/+0if anything, they've given Google the sniffles. he'll be over it in a week.
