- WibWobble, on 02/02/2009, -1/+23"passwords no doubt in a Chinese database somewhere" - woh, LA Times getting confident!
"Firefox shows a warning. IE shows none." - love it. - puppyfox, on 01/06/2009, -1/+14In America you would get caught and prosecuted. And in Soviet Russia, of course, passwords steal you.
- dougbarrett, on 01/06/2009, -2/+15Why do they assume that it is a Chinese database? I'm American and am fully capable of copying the source of Facebook's front page and making a database to store e-mails and passwords! That's PHP/MySQL 101!
- system5y, on 01/06/2009, -0/+11like digg?
dumbass - SuperJimmyJimbo, on 01/06/2009, -5/+13I can't think of anything witty to say
- PGPirate, on 01/06/2009, -0/+8Look at the website your accessing. If it isn't facebook.com or the former [college].facebook.com, DON'T PUT YOUR INFO IN IT. If your unsure, DON'T DO IT!!!!
- discopanda, on 01/06/2009, -2/+10Nor could I
Bacon - inactive, on 01/06/2009, -1/+7it's pretty easy to not be phished out of your passwords...yet these things still spread like wildfire
- xsecretfiles, on 01/06/2009, -2/+7So What's the login URL to facebook?
- discopanda, on 01/06/2009, -1/+6Dugg for "a masked bad person."
- WibWobble, on 02/02/2009, -0/+3Oh boy you're in for a surprise...
- abol684, on 01/06/2009, -1/+4IE gives no warning at all. ha!
- inactive, on 01/06/2009, -0/+3"they make a lot of money "
So does ShamWOW. So does Cat Fancy magazine. So do Karaoke nights at bars. So does Second Life.
The amount of money made doesn't mean that something isn't ridiculous. So I would say that you are mistaken, and possibly confusing lucrative and/or profitable with ridiculous. - inactive, on 01/07/2009, -0/+3Digg isn't a social networking site.
Do you see people posting "OMG LOLZ I JUST MADE A SANDWICH AT 4AM LOLZ!!!"
No you do not, you see IMPORTANT world events that happen right when they happen.
...And then you see it again 40x over 3 hours later. Digg is a news site. - adkenc, on 01/06/2009, -0/+3well if you take care of the stupid people factor...
- ArielMT, on 01/07/2009, -0/+3... for which there's no patch...
- FlareHeart, on 01/06/2009, -2/+5Yet another reason to add to my growing list of reasons to not use either of those "services."
Everyone I could possibly want to talk to or hang out with has my email and my cell number. If they want to talk to me, they can contact me that way. Facebook and Twitter have only served to provide more annoyances than I want in my life. - robomoo, on 01/06/2009, -0/+3Access-login.com is chinese owned and operated.
http://whois.domaintools.com/access-login.com
Further clues in the source of access-login.com ("Prestige Replicas : Luxury at affordable prices!") is "body lang=ZH-CN", simplified chinese. - FredFredrickson, on 01/06/2009, -6/+9God I hope this all leads to the end of Twitter.
- atomicwedgie, on 01/06/2009, -1/+4IE falls 6 slices short of a loaf once again.
- inactive, on 01/06/2009, -0/+3Ridiculousness? Well, they make a lot of money so I would say that you are mistaken...
- douglasr007, on 01/06/2009, -0/+2Twitter = Facebook Lite
- PinkoCommie, on 01/06/2009, -1/+3Better than a Twitter *****...
- inactive, on 01/07/2009, -0/+2that made me laugh.
just like the people who rip our money from stocks get caught and prosecuted right? - inactive, on 01/27/2009, -0/+2Twitter = *****
- MeghnaK, on 01/07/2009, -0/+2are they everywhere????
- inactive, on 01/27/2009, -0/+2We can only hope
- DontThinkSo, on 01/07/2009, -1/+3Dugg for Bacon.
- RATabora, on 01/07/2009, -0/+2"Hey ________! I just posted a video of you on my sweet website! www.letmehaveyouraccountinfo.com! Check it out!"
Can't wait for more wall posts like this. - ftyuv, on 01/07/2009, -0/+2Help me out here, someone, I'm genuinely confused. Since PasswordMaker generates a unique password for each domain, how was my original post wrong? Seems to me that since amazon.com and amaz0n.com are different, the hashing algorithm will generate a completely different password for the phishing site, and all they'll have is a valid username and a password that won't work with any other site.
See, in ( http://passwordmaker.sourceforge.net/faq.html ), the item "How does PasswordMaker defeat phishing attacks?"
What am I missing? - twittar, on 01/07/2009, -0/+1
Alas, the network there is no absolute safety! - BryCulbert, on 01/07/2009, -0/+1The Nigerians are at it again.
- inactive, on 08/17/2009, -0/+1This is horrible. Please take caution when using facebook or twitter. Scammers are all over the place.
www.report-online-scams.com - joellyjoel, on 01/06/2009, -0/+1Yup, you would think that people would know by now BUT they don't...I used to work for webroot software as a tech and a bunch of our calls were people that put their info in somewhere they shouldn't have!?..
- DJMattB241, on 01/06/2009, -3/+2That would make me very sad. Why does twitter make you so angry?
- webbiam, on 01/06/2009, -5/+4I got a bit worried logging in to Digg to post this comment.
- acmaurer, on 01/06/2009, -8/+7Eek - Looks like Twitter's had a fail whale of a week. Hope they can fix all of the security problems asap!
- laonline, on 01/06/2009, -8/+5Twitter Phishers? Welcome to 2009.
- inactive, on 01/06/2009, -9/+5As if I needed more reasons to laugh at the ridiculousness of websites like Twitter and Facebook.
- ftyuv, on 01/06/2009, -6/+2I use PasswordMaker for [nearly] all my passwords -- it automatically generates a password for each domain based on that domain and a master password I provide. It's nice to know that even if I do fall for a phish someday, all they'll get is my username. That's not good, but at least the password they'll get won't work.
- inactive, on 01/06/2009, -9/+3I NEED YOUR CLOTHES, YOUR BOOTS AND YOUR MOTORCYCLES PASSWORD.
PS
I AM GOING POOP. - inactive, on 01/06/2009, -10/+4....Oh no.....how will we cope with this great catastrophe...oh think of the children...
Twitter & Facebook = Fail. As well as Myspace, your blog, and any other "Social Networking" website you can think of.
