- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It takes a long time before Torpark successfully opens a circuit.
I use TorOpera instead, it's faster. http://www.aplusproxy.com/opera.html - seacow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Already submitted but didn't attract much attention. Will come in useful. Thanks!

I respect your hobby, but some people like to bypass firewalls just for the fun of it. Also, badly configured filters can stop useful sites from appearing (like Wikipedia, the Proxy page, or forums and chats - the main source of information). And believe me, more time and bandwidth is spent on finding hacks then would be spent on playing games. I know ;)
You can't block everything and it IS unfair - I don't believe admins notice how much more sites they can access. Or do you say that you have never ever visited a website blocked for everyone else in your company/school/whatever_else? - Phisolo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1tor and privoxy are avaliable for the mac. They are full installs not just a firefox add on. I use them. They work very well.
Very easy to install. There are complete step by step instructions for setting up all major browsers right on the site.

- neocharles, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This works great at school to get around the firewall, just run it off the usb drive :-D
- Silivrenion, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1If you want to compromise and still be able to use Privoxy to filter out your internet transmissions in a portable manner, check out http://portabletor.sf.net .
- dtbond, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Not bad, but slower than Corky on Life Goes On.
- MOBOB, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is great, now i have some freedom while im on my school computers. A little bit slow, but it is acceptable.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1torrent blow kong?
must be were you torrent
i am an old usnet head but my torrents are faster by far and much more reliable, - jhnrang, on 02/19/2009, -0/+1Never knew about it until I found today.
http://www.dbestdir.com - Arrakistor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Torpark v1.5 has been released. It is now available in 32 languages, includes the latest Tor (0.1.1.14 released yesterday), Firefox 1.5.0.1, more robust coding, and new extensions. The download is also 30% smaller now too.
- ComputerWiz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Tor is awesome! Portable is sweet! Digg this to front page!!
- osbjmg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The torpark app sounds alright, but I think what is really interesting.. is that there are lots of random servers out there... not just your one link to one "home proxy".
- Anchoret, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I've been working on a much more involved anono-thumbdrive system, a total DSL OS with a Tor system and other integrated anonymity & encryption apps, but the hardware I'm using isn't DSL supported -- nor is it by other Linux distros (no, not until after it's obsolete...it's in the Linux Laws somewhere, I think).
If you can make it work, ELE Linux is explicitly set up for this sort of thing and can run off of a thumbdrive or CD-R. - mrinternet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0seems slick and prefessionally presented thanks for re-submitting I missed it b-4 .
Dugg - gotamd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is actually really cool. I don't think I'd use it at a public computer for reasons already stated, but using it on my own computer(s) when I want a little extra privacy is good and this makes it very simple.
- beejay, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Interesting...but Tor (at least in its default configuration) doesn't do any header/packet cleaning. I'm not too familiar with HTTP headers, but I have read that one's IP address can still be determined unless you use a privacy proxy like Privoxy in conjunction with Tor. So does this solve that problem somehow, or just ignore it?
- maggoty, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I think the idea behind this is some public internet places won't let you browse until you shell out your bucks... with this, it gets around their proxy and you can browse for free.. since its being tunnelled... lots of wifi places are like this as well.. :-)
- Uriah, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Anyone know if there is a method to work over ISA and using the current logged in user information? I tried putting in the information manually in the conf, but it still doesn't seem to work. Or a method for debugging?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This seems pretty cool.

- stevex0r, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is pretty cool. If I where still in college this would be great for surfing the net in the lab. True I never really went to any really personal sites but I still like the idea of hiding even my casual web surfing from the lab admins. I think the best use for this would be surfing the web in a public lab that had content filtering set up.

- ephemeral, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0If you're using a public terminal consider anything you type in as pwn3d. Seriously, hardware keyloggers are easy to hide these days. Be warned.
- sook, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0this is useless. i wouldnt do anything that i want hidden on a computer that i dont own. if im using my computer, ill just use tor. the installer comes with privoxy. theres also a firefox extension that makes enabling and disabling it a breeze. and yes, it slows down, that's part of the fundamentals!
- rubikfreak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Sweet, I love it.
Dugg. - agentbad, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0torpark doesn't need privoxy because it uses firefox to remotely lookup the dns. i would also encrypt your thumb drive just in case you are discovered by an adversary.
- peerk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"No digg because the authors give the illusion that this makes you safe on an Internet terminal, failing to mention any of the other security risks you face, such as keystroke logging, which could lead to identity theft or worse."
Good point.
I wouldn't use a public terminal to check any thing remotely private. You never know what malicious users or even the employees have monitoring the machine.
Something like this is better suited for your machine on a wifi hotspot. - Arrakistor, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1You don't have any idea what you are talking about, do you? How are you going to possibly set timeouts on pages, when you don't have access to the browser, software, or even the data passing over the connection?
Yes, do illustrate how you have used 30 seconds of page timeout to block Torpark. Perhaps access to torpark.nfshost.com? Assuming the user didn't bring Torpark with them on a USB drive...

cuz this would be awesomeee for school - DEEZED, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2Yeah tor is cool, but all the torrent noobs use it to leech with so it kills bandwidth. Torrents blow kong, download your movies from Usenet.
- nohart, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Tor is okay but using it decreases my speed.(which is bad)
- TKDWILSON, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0'"""Torrents blow kong, download your movies from Usenet.""""""
1. Your right, but I have yet to find a torrent that is using tor.
2. I would if I could get free usenet access.
Eric Wilson - m1ch184, on 10/15/2007, -4/+0For Network Admins: Tor park can be frustrating when you are attempting to limit the websites accessable by your employees/students/minions or just in general the people we control. after much frustration and discussing with other admins, i have discovered that limiting your page timeout to 30seconds it will effectively block torpark. it will not have enough time to establish it's initial connection.
To the others: things that are blocked are blocked for a reason. i know that some of you do have legitimate reasons for tor, privacy, encryption, etc. but a large number of the users of torpark are using it to acess websites that have been blocked on the servers. these websites are blocked for productivity, security, and bandwidth reasons. please respect these. after all, it is the hobby of many of us to watch our traffic. we WILL catch you. You don't want our wrath
