As for spending money, stop crying. I spent a good amount of money creating my gaming machine, I'll be damned if I let some script kiddie who finds the latest exploit destroy my machine to say $50. More over, with a little looking, you can find decent freeware / oss firewalls.
So from all of us on the internet to all of you goats out there, thank you for helping spread the worms and viris and letting your machine become spam bots on botnets. On top of becoming a spam bot, the adults around here also use their computers for business purposes, and home banking. Nothing is more fun than having your customer lists givento your competitors, or your banking information made public, or worse used to access the accounts and transfer money other places.

As for Goat, well, you all have said enough. A router with NAT capability (especially one that doesn't have wireless) is cheap as hell right now, get one. Plenty of ppl out there would love to drive by your house, pick up your wifi signal, and start exploring your porn collection. You may think it will never happen, but ppl do it (me included :P ) As for $50 on a firewall.... your a DUMBASS. just get a decent router (i suggest linksys wrt54gp2) or use the built-in firewall that is included with windows xp sp2. Monolith is right.... if you aren't running some kind of protection, you will be hit by a zombie virus. Just last month, one of my computers started acting up and adelphia shut down my internet. It was hit, and was spewing spam at 10 emails per second. Norton was the only thing that caught it. Goat... be smart, use protection (lol)
