- tokachu, on 10/12/2007, -3/+79Sending your MySpace usernames and passwords through a stranger’s machine won’t “take back your privacy”. It's a severe security risk and I would not recommend this product for ANYBODY.
- D4RKfantasy, on 10/12/2007, -7/+64ok, what i find odd, is that NOT being able to use myspace at school, isnt invading my privacy, not using IM at work, isnt invading privacy. Both of these places should not have access to M and myspace. You wonder why are kids are stupid and our jobs get outsourced, apperantly, people have better things to do that work for money... sheesh, whoda thunk it?
- digitalsatori, on 10/12/2007, -7/+53As nice as FoxyProxy is, avoiding the firewalls and filtering at school can get you suspended. Avoiding the firewalls and filtering at work can get you fired.
You really need to find better things to do at school and/or work. Like actually doing your job or getting your education? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+34"Can't get to MySpace from school?"
That's not privacy, it's a privlidge - fugazi, on 10/12/2007, -8/+30Myspace was cool?
- mark1372, on 10/12/2007, -3/+22Nine year-olds shouldn't be allowed to post on Digg.
- Crypty, on 10/12/2007, -3/+20Buried for the extremely sketchy, spam-like title.
- STDOUBT, on 10/12/2007, -1/+18People don't understand the difference between PRIVATE and ANONYMOUS.
Proxying is NOT private. It *can* provide good anonymity.
Bottom line: If it's not encrypted, it's NOT private.
(think SSL, SSH, etc.) - terminalpariah, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16Because trolls and spammers use Tor to avoid getting banned. Unfortunately all the legitimate Tor users miss out.
- thkfceblkhrt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14ok first of all the fact that dumb comments about what you should be doing at school and work are getting modded up is retarded. Please mod those all down and lets talk about the application.
If you read through both the forum questions and the comments on the mozilla add on site, you will see that a few people call out the author on the fact that it is not doing what is promised. It basically doesn't send DNS look ups through the proxy which meets as far as privacy goes its fubared.
The author later goes into a defensive stance stating that Privacy is not his main design motivation. This is kind of a cop out. This app may be good later but it is NOT TOR.
Mod this up..Cause it needs to be seen before a bunch of people think they are completely anonymous and get flagged by the gov for looking at crazy stuff.
Why people should have to be censored for any idea or information they would like to know about is beyond me. And if we the gov. is going to make something illegal why not go after the hosts and monitor them. Why this huge obsession with monitoring the end consumer and user. Who is enabling the end user..The host.
I motion to bury this article so people dont' end up thinking they have anonymity while using it. - DarkZen, on 10/12/2007, -6/+17Well put, i don't think myspace or IM should be in school either. I also hate myspace anyway so i guess im a little bias. Anyway, i cant see whats so important that you HAVE to check myspace every 15 min to see if someone sent you a message or if that person you like make a post. As for IM, if your doing it in school chances are your underage anyway so you don't have 'all' the rights of privacy you think you do. And those of you who DONT know... Most messenger programs send all messages in Clear-text. Meaning if someone wants to read what your typing to Jessica or jack all they have to do is sniff the network and they can see all those little things you don't want anyone to know... I cant see why anyone would want to IM at school...
Oh yeah, and thanks to EFF on this one but 77% of businesses admit that they monitor their employees Internet access in one way or another (email, im, browser traffic...etc) - DarkZen, on 10/12/2007, -7/+18Please dont dig down a good comment. This is a valid statment... and YES i do know people that have lost their jobs because they were going to stuff like myspace while they were at "work".
+1 - digitalsatori, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11"if you get fired for a visit to myspace then your working stupid anal retentive ***** and are better off without them."
Good job on completely missing the point. No one said visiting MySpace would get you fired. However, avoiding the web filter your company puts in place (and almost certainly has a policy forbidding such an act) would get you fired. Most IT Departments frown on this sort of action. - mike503, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12how many of you are browsing digg during work hours?
it's easy to be a critic. - mark1372, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Dude, I just checked your profile, and every single comment you've ever made has been modded down. It's not us, it's you. Learn from it.
If you continue to get modded-down every time you post, you either are either contributing nothing particularly valuable, people disagree with you, or you're being a jackass. For example, your above comment, "everyone who gives me negative diggs is gay" would qualify under all three categories. Everyone isn't giving you the red thumb just for kicks.
Back to discussion. - mark1372, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Headlines and descriptions that read exactly like a spam message don't deserve to be frontpaged, people.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9i'd be careful with this tool - anyone running those proxies could be spying on you. and don't think your safe with ssl or ssh, if your connecting to a proxy they could man in the middle you.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+14there's a million of these sites.
http://www.unblockurl.com
http://www.proxy.org
http://www.anotherproxy.com
http://www.proxyok.com
http://www.ninjaproxy.com
and the list goes on. - yak86, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7when I was in high school. I don't think anyone had a clue what a proxy was...
- qwasyx, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8(foxy is using tor, at least the way I use it)
- CubiX, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7@talledega500 cause tor costs nothing and is much more secure than constantly tunneling through a single proxy.
And third... though your access tor network through your browsers proxy settings, it's NOT really a proxy. It's onion network. - mywindow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5If you are looking for an easy semi-secure firefox solution I would recommend "Torpark". This app includes a portable version of firefox and tor for your keychain.

FoxyProxy is not very useful if you are looking for privacy. Its only use is to gain access to sites that you normally would not.
Keep in mind privacy on the net is an oxymoron unless you go out of your way and inconvenience yourself. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8Yeah now school admins will just ban FF. Lol.
- ummagummas08, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Tired of your boring old school? Hate your job? Do you want some random guy to be able to take your privacy, even though we claim its secure?! Well then, Foxy Proxy is for you!
And if you sign up today, you might get an STD, FREE. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Foxyproxy supports tor.
But I guess you couldn't be bothered to click the link. - bitcloud, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I believe this is a firefox extension of which there is only one.
- bshock, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Irony: maybe this is a great piece of software, but I can't tell right now -- my company is blocking access to the article.
- TruthElixirX, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6I'm using Tor and it works just fine?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4http://www.dailyproxylist.com has 100's of these sites.
- StopIslamSS, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6and you *only* have to trust the proxy with your privacy!
NOWHERE near as trustworthy as tor - Jacob, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3When i was in high school they banned any site that had proxy in the title, and probably reviewed the sites that were used frequently banning even proxy sites that didn't give away they were proxy's.
- pen25, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3thumbs up. unless your doing ssh and building that tunnel you aint safe no how.
- tomi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2That's just your standard (themed) PHProxy installation. Nothing special about it. There's millions of those around, hell, even I have one on my server. Like stdoubt said above, proxying isn't privacy, it's anonymity.
- yathosho, on 10/12/2007, -5/+7nice find.. but school myass :p
- dutter, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Any Diggers have experience with FoxyProxy, good or bad?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3right, and where did i say i use myspace ;)
- qwasyx, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Yeah,it´s great; but I can´t digg using TOR ! ( can´t log in - get the bad I.P message again )!
- bigtomrodney, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2No. The proxy used by default in FoxyProxy is already listed in most Websense servers under "Proxy Avoidance"
- grimholtz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@thkfceblkhrt: FoxyProxy most definitely DOES route DNS requests through proxies. You need to install the extension (or just look at the screenshots!). Look at the "Global Settings" tab. There's a checkbox for precisely this. And it works; I tested it against ethereal.
- mamproxy, on 12/09/2008, -0/+1another good proxy
http://www.myspaceproxyforschool.com
http://www.myspaceproxy1.cn - glafira, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Is it really good enough to bypass Websence????
- digitalsatori, on 10/12/2007, -5/+6I have a MySpace, I use it to keep up with friends who do not live in town. I don't use it at work, and I don't attempt to evade my web filtering to access it.
Honestly, I like MySpace. I think it's a great communications tool. However, a lot of people who use MySpace are morons. The 13-year-olds who post "nekkid" pictures of themselves and bitch because some dirty 60-year-old was masturbating to them is what ruins it and gives it the negative connotations.
But, since MySpace is popular, you have the pseudo-nonconformists who are "too cool" for MySpace. So they call it "gay". Because referring to something as "gay" makes you "too cool", apparently.
I agree with you. If you don't like MySpace, don't use it. If you like MySpace, then use it. But, to post a Digg article about FoxyProxy and summarize it by saying You can use this to get around your school/work filtering is bad form and this submission should be buried. - djisamsoe, on 01/21/2009, -0/+1nice proxy all above..thanks mate..
you can try this one...http://hidethisnow.info/ - tke248, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is how I do it on windows without giving up my usernames and passwords
http://digg.com/security/Unrestricted_Internet_Access_at_Work_or_School - janspambox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1SSH and SSL are supposed to detect MITM attacks. You get a hostkey/certificate warning if someone does an MITM. If you choose to ignore this, well, you deserve it.
- Syncmaster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This one still works for me: http://www.badboysproxy.com/

Google already has a proxy you can use for free. - Jaymoon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1OK.. very unnecessary use of AJAX popup images in the screenshots section...
