- socket, on 10/12/2007, -4/+18Reported as lame. I wish people wouldn't use Digg as an their own personal engine of revenge. The PriceRitePhoto story was one thing but everyone and their brother thinks Digg is the fraud sounding board now. It's getting old fast.
- JMJimmy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11This article is spam!
- slantyyz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Yeah, do you like it when the MPAA and RIAA sue people for downloading media files? Probably not.
I'm sure I'll get a bunch of negative diggs, but it seems like most people around here hate the MPAA and RIAA (myself included), but why do people take a 180 when it comes to people ripping off web site layouts and content? Seems a bit hypocritical, if you ask me. - theone3, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Umm.. If you jack someones car, chances are that you probably don't have their keys. I'm just sayin'.
- lokai, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I do agree that what this content thief did was wrong, but I don't agree with harassing him because of it; I think that's pretty messed up on your part. Report his activity to the college campus his email activity stems from if you can, but don't stoop lower than his level to get perverse satisfaction out of this.
If this man really did steal your work, then do something about it and go through the proper channels. If there is nothing productive you can do besides harassing this man, then just stop already and better protect your assets in the future. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5How is posting the alleged theif's personal information "sticking it to him" exactly? How is this "doing something about it"?
- xswag, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8In fact all the stories ys submits are for his own site. Thats cheap!!!!
http://digg.com/users/yfs1/submitted
Find some real Content for this site and quit promoting your own!!! - brandonhines, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8Where's the proof that content is his?
- pronouncable, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Or they could've handled it the right way and reported her. Same thing happened with me, they took down the whole person's page the next day.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+9I already posted this on your blog, but thought this should be on the digg as well. I don%u2019t know what is more messed up, the guy stealing your site and selling it for 5 bucks, or the fact that the whole WWW has directions to his campus now. Somebody should go to his school, jack his car, and sell him back the keys for 5 bucks
- zimm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4all you did was start a war..
you wont solve anything.
he could also file harassment charges aginst you. criminal. and you did it over some content. civil.
You loose. - Synthetik, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7Has digg become a tool for revenge ever since priceritephoto.com? Maybe I should post my ex-girlfriends info to have an army of sheep email bomb her... This is not cool.
- hockeygoon, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6I think he expects us to do the sticking for him. This is not news. It is crap.
- Khlept0, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7But why? Being a vigilante is fun =]
- cblalock, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4The irony of the content vigilante-ism here is hilarious. We all digg the hell out of stories that are against the RIAA and MPAA and also digg anything pro-pirate. Yet, when it happens to one of our members the sheep all freak out and say how mean it is to steal someone else's hard work without properly paying for it. Some of you peeps need to do some soul searching.
- jeolmeun, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"Feel free to email this guy as much as you like. I will soon have his address so you can sign him up for magazine subscriptions and send Chinese food to his apartment."
Doesn't sound legal. Fraud and fraud. Why would you mess with a Chinese food place and waste all that paper and ink? Go file a report or sue the guy. - Khlept0, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6I like dropping their DB through SQL injections myself. *shrug*
- xswag, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5This is total spam so he can get traffic on his site. I don't know whats more pathetic. Getting your "content" stolen or submitting a Digg article to get traffic on your site.
- samsite, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6Ill digg this because i know how it feels to be ripped if (check my last post on the digg) but as i was made aware this is not a vigilante web site its a IT news website and this isn't news, but hey, best of luck nailing this guy
- dhughes, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4 No offence but I hate that word "content" , business-speak.
- jwalk81980, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Looks like the spammer re-routed his URL to attack the blogger's webpage to avoid a DDoS.
- RamMasterRay, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Maybe there should be some type of probation bad posters or spammers could get. But, why are there so many diggs for an article that amounts to self promotion? Could it be, people are digging without reading the article?
- T0PS3O, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6What a muppet... Though expect your WP to be hacked by our good ol' Turkish hacker buddies soon :)
Reminds me of a newspaper article I read once where thiefs nicked a stereo in Sao Paolo, then 3 days later came back and actually asked for the receipt since they couldn't flog it without for some reasons.
Criminals being so thick is why I like shows like Cops Uncut and other Bravo *****. - jeolmeun, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2What does 中文呢 mean?
- alexguyCA, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Please forgive my ignorance, but what did the person do to you? Could you explain it in more plain language? Thanks!
- mdmoya, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3yfs1, no, he's saying that, to teach the guy a lesson, someone should go steal his car and sell it back to him. Basically what he's trying to do to you, just to show him how stupid it is.
- terminalpariah, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I've got a great idea for taking down content thieves. Let's form a cartel... call it the Blog Posters Association of America. When someone steals content from our blogs, we can sue them (or their kids).
What do you think? - wangarific, on 10/12/2007, -6/+7tear this fool a new one
- idesign562, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1yeah. did that too. it took too long though.
- mckennage, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Should you not be able to submit about your own site? If people digg it, then it should be worth the read, right?
(Rhetorical questions, of course. I think the real problem here is people digging stories that don't merit the digg. If you think this particular article is spam, mark it as such.) - modsuperstar, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3I may be a little slow here, but what is this guy offering? He's downloaded a whole website database and is offering to resell it? It doesn't make sense to me.
- hockeygoon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2So you verified everything did ya. If you are wrong you will look quite like an ass. Besides, why should we believe you any of this transpired. Maybe your an attention junky. This story is lame.
- T0PS3O, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Not the actual website, that would have been fine. He's selling a scraped copy, i.e. without the current owner's permission. That's the problem. And the added irony of offering it to the guy who initially built it and already made some good bucks out of selling it.
- SFBay, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Means "Is this in chinese?" in, you guessed it, chinese.
I have no idea what he/she is talking about. - pwaltoft, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2As I understand it yfs1 had an article directory, the scammer copied the content and then tried to sell it to yfs1 without knowing who he was.
- mckennage, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I understand the emotions involved in wanting to be a vigilante. But how do you know you have the right guy? Yeah, Jason said he confirmed it. But I don't place much weight on confirming something through emails and messaging only. Anyone could fake it.
- zimm, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2The thief is just scum. but the submitter is worse. and i'd rather HE was locked up.
the vigilante is more dangerous than the content thief. - jeolmeun, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Self promotion?
- cblalock, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Nothing. See also: Myspace flame wars.
- copperdream, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0What is to keep a blogger from posting contact info of someone he/she simply does not like, making up a story about how evil that person is, then getting a lot of people to be mean and nasty to that person under false pretenses?
- jeolmeun, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Another? Look at all the submissions to his own blog. http://digg.com/users/yfs1/submitted
- cawpin, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I haven't read the story but I have given up on digging this story for 1 simple reason.
"I suppose I should of (or could of) sent off a letter filled with pretty pleases..."
If you don't understand, you don't get any diggs either. - jeolmeun, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Look at all the negatively digged comments the submitter has here.
- algorythm, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2+digg for being a Turk!
- brandonhines, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4Nevermind. I'm reading the forum thread. So, all he's trying to do is sell him a website that he use to own? I don't understand the problem.
- shreky, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Are you sure that is his real name and address? I mean if he steals stuff wouldn't he use wrong name. If it's his real name then hey go for it. I hate when people rip!!
- Thurloat, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4that could easily be the funniest thing to see ever!
- noppid, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3It's fun to use public facts about people that screw ya against them.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -9/+8I back up the site every day ;) - Most Turkish hackers seem to like me..They hacked a site selling DMOZ entrance and put a picture of mine plus a redirect to my blog: http://www.open-directory-status.com/page_1.htm - Maybe I can hire those guys to protect me
- Synthetik, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3I hope you guys don't fall for this
