  • TeMerc, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3OK, the BSODs referenced in this article were a VERY FEW machines and the tool was immediately pulled until the cause was found and rectified.

    SmithFraud Fix is indeed infection specific and does not offer any sort of real time protection. In so far as a GUI, there is no need for one an anyone who can't use it, should not be using a PC, as the instructions call for maybe 3-4 clicks to remove the infection.

    This write up while informative to some degree is more spam than anything else for Spyware Doctor. Buried as such.

  • ShadowPuterDude, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Obviously you do not understand the threat and the tools used to remove these threats. SmitFraudFix as stated by myself and the others here is an infection specific removal tool.

    SmitFraudFix does in-fact remove the Trojan, Zlob, responsible for downloading and installing many different "Rogue" applications. Since, most of these rogues are accompanied by a Smit infection.

    In my experience Spyware Doctor has not been effective in locating, let alone removing. the many Zlob and Smitfraud variants.

    SmitFraudFix by S!Ri is indeed a infection specific tool and should never be used without the guidance of a Malware Removal Expert.

  • giedrius, on 10/11/2007, -1/+0Pushing SmithFraudFix as total cure for rogue spyware is the thing that allows rogue spyware manufacturers to exist, spammers. Smithfraudfix is a cure for symptoms, not for REAL disease that trojans which distribute these spywares are.
