- TheBlueVulcan, on 11/07/2009, -1/+14No it's not; you are not forced to use Google.
- crazyspaceman, on 11/07/2009, -0/+4Web History is an app by Google, you have to allow it to start tracking you in the first place. If you don't want it to be part of your Google account then it doesn't have to be, certainly isn't part of mine.
- DCGUY12, on 11/08/2009, -0/+3This was a good move. I have gone back to using gmail as my main mail client now.
- Apex3, on 11/07/2009, -1/+3I cleared my history. Now I'm wishing I hadn't so I could look through all the pictures that I've forgotten about.
- g3r4, on 11/08/2009, -0/+2Really? Search, Gmail, Maps and YouTube are their biggest services. Three of them you don't need an account to use, and there's alternatives to all four. Chrome is just one of many browsers, Blogger is one of many blogging sites, Orkut is one of many social networking sites, Docs is one of many productivity suites (online or off)...
What is really necessary about having a Google account? And without an account, how are they tracking YOU instead of a faceless hit to an ad? - robwhite1979, on 11/07/2009, -1/+2The web history is a bit creepy, but honestly I don't care what google knows about me or what they do with it.
- KibibyteBrain, on 11/07/2009, -2/+3In all fairness though the way the Web is currently architected it would be very difficult to avoid using Google's services at all, as they, and the transparent tracking that comes with them, are used by other sites and services and it is impossible to know if a given site uses them until you have already navigated to it. So it is not comparable to Big Brother, but its also not quite a simple matter of "don't use the service".
- Yage2006, on 11/08/2009, -1/+1Nice move by google glad they added this.
They seem less evil to me now :) - raibman, on 11/08/2009, -1/+1THis is really good!!! but, my dashboard is so scary to see. almost everything is in there. damn!!!
- Rassa, on 11/08/2009, -2/+1This is a good move. I have went back to using gmail as main client now.
- or3n, on 11/07/2009, -9/+6Google is Big Brother.
