Protect your site from spam bots

michael.langley.id.au — If you run your own website, you will soon come to realise the nuisance spam bots present. They trawl your site and collect email addresses, consume your bandwidth and can cause other problems. There however is a number of ways you can prevent some of them. This article is the process I use to block abusive bots from my site.

  • psycobrat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i have used some of the items listed in the sample .htaccess file. i use them for stuff like the google image cache... p0rn... what ever is of interest in a large area and do npt wish to spend the time clicking everyhing just to save a few handfulls of neet pics or mp3s.

    i do however change the agent id, because i know about logs and wish to limmit what is truthfully logged about me.

    and i train my customers the same way. the programs are not bad, just the jaskasses using, sorry... ABUSING, them.
