- deviationer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wow I didn't know that we are ALL suppost to know exactly what you are talking about. Not every computer geek always stays the most current to all the latest hacking info
- afslip, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Damn, I cant believe there are still people outthere who hasnt heard of phrack. What the hell???? Those of you who dont know what the hell phrack is should be hacked.
- Sco0t, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hah, is this the last Phrack issue? You should know what Phrack is its been around for AGES.
- HecknJive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Phrack magazine is a Phreak-Hack magazine founded in the 80s on an old bbs (i think ran on an apple2e) (a bbs is an old message forum people would dial into back in the days) known as MetalShop. Its managed to be one of the older h/p scene online mags thats stuck around, tho w/ little commitment to regular release dates. Phracks grown from being an old zine that promoted the old h/p/a(yes, anarchy; explosives, zipguns, carding, among other things) into a decent technicial journal.
i'm not as technical oriented myself, i enjoyed phrack in its earlier years when it gave a better insight into the scene, thoughts and motives of the folks of that time/era as opposed to the technical info thats in it now thats great for reference, but i'll never find any nostalgia for. - iWorks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0For those that don't know what the heck "Phrack" is... follow this link for a very detailed explanation and the history of...
http://www.worldwidewords.org/qa/qa-fri1.htm - RWTechgage, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Phrack is a leading hacker magazing. Takes forever in between to get each issue out, but they are usually worth it.
Think 2600, but online only. - fubs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0n00b5!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0For 20 years PHRACK magazine has been the most technical, most original,
the most Hacker magazine in the world. The last five of those years have
been under the guidance of the current editorial team - Vitaliy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I thought #62 was the last one and they were done?
- duranracing, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Why did this get on to the front page guys. Come on.
- gwjc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0w00t
- PacoBell, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@mutant: Yeah, but is that going to be the last Popular Science issue ever to be printed? Yeah...moving right along ¬_¬
- shroom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hrm, yeah, I thought they called it quits?
- shinbidy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@pacobell: This is not last issue ever, this is just last issue published by current phrackstaff. Pls read the Introduction: "Expect a new release, under a new regime, sometime in 2006/2007."
- angrydroid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0How funny. I was one of the people who was on Metal Shop in the 80s and helped choose the name of the mag.
On another note... Phrack was also the first magazine to be distributed online. Craig or Rand, if you're reading this, drop me a line. ;) - Wi1d, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Thanks for the digg. I had heard they had called it quits.
- exobot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0wahey, new Phrack!
- PacoBell, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@shinbidy: And with that new regime may come a disheartening letdown. As far as I'm concerened, this issue represent the end of an era. Let's hope the new guys don't make Phrack like Star Trek without Roddenberry, retaining the name, but losing its soul.
- archer75, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Never heard of Phrack.
- Soave, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Well I DON'T think the title says it all. What the hell is it?
- test5477, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0wtf is phrack...
- mutant, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0popular science #28394829 was released too.. does that deserve a digg? fer ***** sake..
