Thanks for the digg, and yeah, the whole situation really does suck. I am hoping that by putting it here, I can get some press rolling on it and either get Paypal to give me back my money, or the community to help restore my faith in people (are there any good people out there?) or maybe find someone that can help me contact the seller and maybe pressure him to pay back the money.
It really bothers me because the iPod was intended as a gift for a friend, and now I am out $125 USD and have no gift.
Digg for you. More people need to know that PayPal's "protection" is just a load of *****. I lost $1,400 on one transaction because I thought I was protected. I wasn't.
(Product Name: Case #PP-182-730-851 QID128 - $24.35) On Apr. 6, 2006 I purchased via PayPal an item from Business Name: Linatec for $300; see Payment Sent (ID #1SC51869MK7846828). The seller was registered with PayPal as a confirmed seller. Furthermore they said that the transaction would be covered under their "Buyer Protection" Policy. So I completed the transaction and the money was drafted from my account. Weeks passed and I did not received anything. I sent numerous emails to the seller but did not get any response! I opened a case on 05/08/2006 with PayPal to get my money back. (see Case ID: PP-164-547-488) All PayPal did is sending an email to the seller. After a few emails the case was closed. the response I got from PayPal was;"Thank you for contacting PayPal. We have decided in your favor, however, we were unable to recover any funds from the seller's account." When asking for a refund of my money, the response I got from PayPal was that they could not recover the money! And they due to a loop hole in their policy, I would NOT protected under their Buyer Protection Policy! This is ridiculous that a company like PayPal is even in business. They can bend their policies as they like. Now I am out of my money and all I have is a headache caused by PayPal.
Paypal really does suck....I had a deadbeat seller who never made contact and never sent product...he has received lots of neg feedback recently and is now no longer a registered user...Paypal wants to charge me $25 to get my $20 purchase back...How can they do this, they know he committed fraud...just give me my money back!!
They need to review and edit their business policies, this is just bad business and I will be trying to limit my paypal use.
