There are so many things we as parents can do - communicate and create dialogue w/our kids; educate ourselves on what's out there (trends, lingo, etc), and more importantly get involved w/our community to ensure we are all banding together..by community I mean literally our neighborhoods, other parents, local authorities, our local/state government, and even blogs. We as parents can leverage blogs such as this one to connect and stay ahead of the curve. Another one I found was www.theinternetparent.blogspot.com along with safekids.org but there are so many others.
