norton suck. a year old version of AVG finds and kills stuff that norton misses, see it all the time in my shop.
norton rootkits your system, and sometimes [mostly expired trialware] requires a nuke to remove.
norton when expires, will lock out you network since it make all network ports/drivers dependant on it. norton be it off or expired = no networking. half the time requires nuke to fix.
i use and promote AVGfree, free-av's anitvir, and avast home. use one or all tree of them and you have no problems. they also play "freindly" with each other, unlike norton.
notron will try to disable and/or remove other products. norton also has a sygate killer built into it. one of the best firewalls and norton buys it and kills it.
norton is the MS of security programs with mcafee closely following. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2AVG is still well and alive, they were just redesigning their free AV.
- Dweller99, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Avast is another good one to consider, but agreed on all points about Norton.

I heard that AVG was going out of biz. Should one look to an alternate, or can one (such as I) still download it with confidence?
