- LucasKane, on 10/10/2007, -3/+29Imagine what the beta can do!
- soccerman90, on 10/10/2007, -3/+26I just switched to using FF. Pretty cool how much they care about making their browser safe
- iashraf, on 10/10/2007, -3/+25You're kicking yourself in the shin - like you say, it's an alpha - ALPHA! You don't have to hope for improvements, as improvements are definite. Hell, it's not even beta and you're complaining.
- fkr3, on 10/10/2007, -1/+22Most of the stuff the alpha tries to....
- Bamborzled, on 10/10/2007, -2/+20But I thought jokes had to be funny.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -3/+18I couldn't be a bigger FF fan but I never want to see IE die. Lack of competition kills innovation.
- darkNiGHTS, on 10/10/2007, -2/+16No, this is why you don't download Firefox Alphas for general use.
- jdhore1, on 10/10/2007, -3/+16yeah...For me, Firefox 3 Alpha 8 uses about 1/3rd the RAM (about 55MB vs 150MB) that FF2 does with the same exact tabs open.
- vjeko, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10Upgrade to celeron 600 mhz
- darkNiGHTS, on 10/10/2007, -4/+14You haven't tried Firefox 3 Alphas yet have you...
- Cobainy, on 10/10/2007, -3/+13Any examples? No?
Then stfu, and try to get that sand out of your vagina. - c0re1337, on 10/10/2007, -5/+14For those who wish to try one of the Firefox 3 (Grand Paradiso) Alphas, you can find it here:
http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nig ... - soccerman90, on 10/10/2007, -2/+10yes, please come up with some kind of proof
- m0laria, on 10/10/2007, -3/+9Maybe that's because it is unsafe to use the...4chan extension.
- whataboutdave, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7I woudn't really call IE "competition"...
- OutThisLife, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6Yeah, and coding for IE is a lot of fun :D
- jdhore1, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Alphas != nightlies...Nightlies have some new stuff and some bug fixes, but they're also a lot less stable than Alphas.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4who the hell surfs for porn anymore? Torrent that ***** retard.
- xtragedy, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5I think you just don't get the point. Firefox is really on the same page as everyone as of security measures or other basic browsing features. The point of using firefox is more about extensions and xul. extensions for users and xul for developers. Firefox is a very good platform in itself which the other browsers are not. IF you don't care about those things, I would suggest trying Opera which offers a very good web browsing experience without any need to change the configuration.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Correct link
http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefo ...
Nightlies are seriously not for normal folks. The Gran Paradiso are much more people friendly. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2works along side.
- darkNiGHTS, on 10/10/2007, -3/+5Hmmm.... I wonder why? Maybe because it's Alpha! LOL!
- falloutsyndrome, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2 Why not read the t-shirt before you quote it? It's cruise control for "awesome". Which in this case, it is neither relevant nor funny.
- comrade693, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3I'd like to see you back up your claim with some facts...
- zwaldowski, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Yes, in fact, it passes all major tests, like Acid 3. Thank you, Gecko.
- comrade693, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Congratulations on demonstrating that you know nothing about the issues of concurrency.
Having one thread per tab isn't the magic bullet. You'd then have to make *everything* threadsafe, which would be a huge perf hit, and add an immense level of complexity to the code base. - richbradshaw, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3arodept fails at everything... yet another person to block...
- thefinger, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1looking forward to the death of people who look forward to the death of IE
- comrade693, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Don't native form controls just rock :)
They have them for Linux too! - Gudeldar, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Wish granted.
- neFariou5, on 05/16/2008, -0/+1After spending more time with it, I realise it now blocks quite a lot of executables soley because it now uses Windows' System-Wide security (Internet Explorer -> Tools -> Options) in addition to it's own, which sounds good - but gets very annoying when you whitelist something you trust in firefox and it's still blacklisted because you also have to whitelist it in Internet Explorer too. Personally I whitelist sites I trust with NoScript, so having to touch Internet Explorer seems unecessary
To fix this particular problem change "Launching application and unsafe files" under Miscellaneous within Internet Zone to Prompt instead of Disable. - CircleFusion, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1will this overwrite my existing firefox install? or will it install alongside it?
- SavageBlackCat, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Too bad the stability sucks.
- neFariou5, on 05/12/2008, -0/+1ok ffs is here, and its great and all, but how the hell do i install flash player when it blocks the download claiming it's malware even from the official site...
- xNaquada, on 10/27/2007, -3/+4yes, because IE7 wasn't influenced by FF in anyway.... oh wait, the main (if not only) reason IE7 was made was because of FF.
- Smills, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Yeah, I rekon. They should really call it something to tell everyone that it is pre-release. Hmm, how about "alpha". That has a nice ring to it.
- Gonz037, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Thats ok, I just found my dads stack of playboys in his basement from like the 70's. Wildebeest and danger!
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1your computer seems to be fooked. the last gran paradiso release i used was way way better then FF2 especially on digg. the combination of the New gecko engine and Cairo seems to be doing the trick. FF3 is definitely shaping up to be uber awesome.
- inactive, on 10/27/2007, -3/+4catch up to?? ohh i think you have that backwards , if you notice, IE finally got tabs when opera and firefox had them for how long?? i could name a list if needed
- strabes, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3Not to mention standards-compliant.
- Okari, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2GIANT CAPS LOCK IS CRUISE CONTROL FOR COOL!
- SavageBlackCat, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Tried it and hated its frequent crashes.
- s0lid, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2sounds great works great too :) using firefox 3 on Mac now so far so good better than 2.0 branch :D
- gregb7677, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0If you don't like it than don't use it.
- mattcurrie, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1The best thing in FF3 is going to be the new memory management which fixes the Javascript memory leaks.
- aaaaaaaand, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Kevin Sorbo says: add more ram.
512m is barely enough to feed XP. 2 gigs is barely enough to feed vista, the horizon of evil. - dualscreenman, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1I can also claim that FF3 used way less memory than usual. Using the restore function to load up the exact same tabs I found that alpha8 was using about 80 MB, whereas is 2.0 uses ~150
- Chandon, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Firefox 2 is great except for 3 issues: Something slow in one tab freezes the browser (and the developers refuse to just use a thread per tab and make the problem vanish), A bad plugin freezes the whole browser (which the thread thing would also fix), and no full page zoom (which supposedly is fixed in FF 3).
- aaaaaaaand, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0You are also unimpressive!
unlike NoScript.net - zeppo, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1I used the first 6 alphas with minor problems but the last two alphas just crash on my macpro. I guess I will be using firefox 2 a lot longer then I planned.
