If you're reasonably technically savvy you could try running it through a Linux OS. If it requires IE though, it's doubtful that can be made to work.
Just torrent the movies like everybody else. (attention humorless corporate stooges, THIS IS A JOKE)
-RAnthony - FTLJohnson, on 06/17/2008, -0/+3I love watching movies on my PC. I have dual monitors, and intend to add a third for specifically watching video content. (in before porn jokes). Also, I'd love to be able to do the ultra wide screen view for games that support it, like flight sims, and some FPS games.
Netflix DOES stream some movies to customers, and I do think you are missing something, and it would probably take a while to explain it - but Netflix's movie resolution, when it's actually available, is better than 480p I think. It looks quite good, and I'd love to be able to watch it, but it appears I've been screwed over by Microsoft, and bad programming by Netflix. (and I'm not even the author of this article, it's just that almost the same exact thing happened to me) - ranthony, on 06/18/2008, -0/+2The real solution is, of course, not to use Vista. There is no DRM in place for HD content in XP, unless they brought it in with SP 3.
-RAnthony - FTLJohnson, on 06/17/2008, -0/+1Netflix INSTANT viewing - Time to acquire movie you want to watch: Nearly Instant
Torrenting a Movie - Time to acquire movie you want to watch: About an hour, to possibly many hours.
(or so I'm told anyway... This one guy explained it all to me... and he looked pretty technical and what not... what with the parrot on his shoulder, and the peg leg...) - IcerC, on 06/17/2008, -0/+1Watching movies on the computer is terrible as it is. But I don't understand why they don't just stream movies to customers? Hulu.com does a great job of streaming 480p tv and movies... am I missing something?
