makes sense.. - Thinkingdrawrof, on 11/20/2007, -4/+28i like that hacking seems to be a good way to get job offers these days.
- meshman, on 11/20/2007, -4/+23"the first Web 2.0 worm"
When there's been a second version of the web then maybe there might be worms for it. - MikeFallopian, on 11/20/2007, -1/+20Can't beat it for finding easy high school girls. I mean, serious professional networking opportunities.
- giveer, on 11/20/2007, -2/+19Did he just say "Myspace is a pretty cool site"? Geez, he *has* been off computers for a while, hasn't he?
- drewxhawaii, on 11/20/2007, -3/+15this is how he did it: http://www.preschooldays.com/wordpress/?p=26
- nexah3, on 11/20/2007, -3/+15Maybe he attacked it because its an awful website?
- DiggDugglas, on 11/20/2007, -6/+16Samy became an hero.
- BalsamLane, on 11/20/2007, -0/+9clap...clap...clap...
Perhaps you should reevaluate your criteria. - dansmeek, on 11/20/2007, -0/+8damn i remember reading the blog this guy wrote when he first made this thing (well, not a blog, more like a "how to"... as in, "how to get tons of friends on myspace." I remember at the end it said something like "oh, and by the way, if Tom you're reading this, or Newscorp, please don't sue me. I'm sorry"
Haha. I really didn't think anything would happen cuz it seemed pretty petty, but.... they are strict today i guess. - justAnother9, on 11/20/2007, -2/+9Yeah, he'll probably do pretty well after that. They did him quite a favor by giving him all that press.
- sourtimes, on 11/21/2007, -0/+6you should at least give his website credit instead of copy/pasting to your own site.
http://namb.la/popular/ - sapo916, on 11/21/2007, -0/+5by reading this, my h4x0r script just made you digg 50 of my digg posts... hahah f34r me
- MYarms, on 11/20/2007, -1/+6web 2.0 is a joke
- scoobycarolan, on 11/20/2007, -2/+7F Myspace. What a bunch of asshats
- KaneElson, on 11/21/2007, -0/+4It has been since the inception of (networked) computers. All the major companies have head hunted hackers from the start.
- aywwts4, on 11/20/2007, -1/+5"'I'd be happy to help out because they [Myspace] actually provide a pretty cool site. "
That rules that one out... I think he was really just having a hard time getting friends, after a while the 18 year old girls with a cam who "thinks u r real cute!" wouldn't even add him. - sourtimes, on 11/21/2007, -0/+4I agree. He wasn't even trying to be malicious, just funny.
- kevisazombie, on 11/21/2007, -0/+3Agreed I remeber hearing about this a year ago and thinking nothing of it because myspace cleared it in like a day. Thats a total dick move taking him to court.
- Catgofire, on 11/20/2007, -3/+6A Kevin Mitnick he is not.
- Hollic, on 11/21/2007, -0/+3Transformers?... If you're talking about the kid the hooked up a computer to the radio and punched out morse code, then you're incorrect. Technically, he is a hacker, just of a different sort. Hardware hacking. Now shut up and quit trying to increase the size of your epeen. You're getting dugg down into oblivion.
- usrlocalbin, on 11/20/2007, -4/+7Having known Samy for years, he got a ***** rap for all that.
Samy is my hero. - wiifm69, on 11/21/2007, -0/+2here is his piece of javascript http://namb.la/popular/tech.html
- davidrools, on 11/21/2007, -1/+3he took the whole probation remarkably well. that's a stand up guy if i ever knew one.
- thewebguy, on 11/21/2007, -0/+2what a joke, this guy should have been hired, not indicted. this guy gets totally owned for a harmless worm and the spammers just keep on going.
nice double standard.. - MewtwoReturns, on 11/21/2007, -1/+3I've said this on every single "virus/wom writer busted" page, and I'll continue to do so -- a worm or virus that doesn't actaully do any real damage should translate into an instant job offer, NOT a conviction.
- inactive, on 11/21/2007, -1/+3On a separate note, am I the only one who finds it ironic how the geek community bashes Windows for its vulnerabilities yet treats hackers like gods. If these ***** didn't exist in the first place we wouldn't have to worry about securing our connections.
- giveer, on 11/21/2007, -0/+2Way to go, I was getting ready to rhyme off my own retort until I hit "epeen" and now I'm laughing too much..
- kainnation, on 11/21/2007, -0/+1Next time don't get caught
- newbsawbit, on 11/25/2007, -0/+1If 'these *****' didn't exist in the first place, you wouldn't have connections to worry about. IT is built on hacking. Without curiosity, without exploration, there is NOTHING. Not that I condone CRACKING, but without hacking and vulnerability research things would just be worse. Just be glad that he didn't have any real malicious intent and found the vulnerability before someone that did.
- misterRobot, on 12/01/2007, -0/+1wow, I reeeeeeeeeeeeaaaally suck at MySpace then!
- scottschiller, on 11/21/2007, -0/+1Not necessarily - consider Kevin Mitnick.
- kloud213, on 11/21/2007, -0/+1thats kind of creepy
- misterRobot, on 12/01/2007, -0/+1haha the hacking on live free or die hard was precious. Everything had gorgeous graphics and was drag and drop! lol...would probably be a command line interface with ascii art if they are lucky
- digmark, on 11/21/2007, -0/+1Mypwn3d.
- taglio, on 11/21/2007, -0/+1Always about MySpace: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iGTSXdXS15U
- inactive, on 11/21/2007, -0/+1Amen. The only guys that gain from these sorts of things are the antivirus corps. The guy who started McAffee retired and bought the house next to the one the owner of my company has. The owner of my company has two private jets, a private helicopter, and a cattle ranch as a hobby because he likes to ride and rope. McAffee makes him look like a beggar. He spent several million just remodeling his house. And McAffee sucks. Symantec has made the real cash. All these cute little hackers have made a fat cat richer. Congrats!
- zangis, on 11/21/2007, -1/+1I've known Samy for quite some time, explains why I haven't been able to get in contact with him though. Brilliant little bugger he is.
- cyberoptic, on 11/26/2007, -0/+0Yeah cause thats hacking. *sarcasm*
- cyberoptic, on 11/26/2007, -0/+0i Smell *****....
- cyberoptic, on 11/26/2007, -0/+0AHMEN!!!!
- DeathfireD, on 11/20/2007, -2/+1lol, Norton picks up the txt file as JS.spacehero when trying to save it to a computer.
- Ziggyzaggy, on 11/21/2007, -1/+0*****, I want your |/|0dz
- ERIK1960, on 11/20/2007, -5/+3Great article
- isunktheship, on 11/20/2007, -4/+1put your money where your mouth is!
- sapient2003, on 11/21/2007, -3/+0Mitnick is not a hacker.
- f00xx0riz3r, on 11/20/2007, -9/+5What a ***** lamer
- aceakm, on 11/21/2007, -4/+0He's a douche bag.
- Rivetgeek, on 11/21/2007, -7/+3No he wont. I work as a security engineer and have worked for several HUGE companies. Most legit companies wont hire you for security if you have anything more than a few parking tickets. No this guy will never make it past the IT desk. And before someone brings up Mitnick, he created HIS OWN company.
- gremlin896, on 11/20/2007, -6/+0Did he get some Luls?
