- rpeterclark, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I've been using OneCare for months as a beta tester and I've been very happy with it. It's definately designed for the novice computer user and doesn't offer much in the way of advanced settings, but you never have to worry about it. It quitely updates itself regularly and seems to do a great job.
- Jarrod, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Inspired by Microsoft other businesses begin offering similar products. Soon to come-

- jav1231, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Press Release: "The company that invented software vulnerability has launched a new AntiVirus application. Microsoft executives say the new initiative, when combined with the relaxed security in such products as Office, Internet Explorer, IIS, and Outlook Express, allows the company's revenue streams to come full circle; making them both the cause-of and solution-to most of your computer's security problems."
- TeChGuRL19, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Do you really trust microsoft to keep you safe from spam and viruses? hmmm
- PowerCow, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0
a real virus scanner would remove windows - illynova, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Given MS's track record, I'd be wary of using their anti-virus software to stop worms and viruses.
Luckily UIC (my college), and many other ones give their students free corporate editions of Symantec Antivirus. :) - kinobe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0
- dankiswess, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1No firefox support...I don't need MS VirusScan for that reason alone.

Haha, yeah the best they can ever do is to make Windows "like new", i.e. like freshly installed.
Trouble is, they're sitting in a piece of s* VW Polo while *NIX (Mac OS X included) users are sitting in kick ass cars. - ozskier, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wow, microsoft has some balls.
- semvhu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm a bit wary of this one. MS AntiSpyware is pretty good in that it scans real-time, but it's missed stuff that Adaware SE and Spybot have caught. If MS's own virus scan misses viruses as well, that's not any good.
However, I too have run out of Norton's subscription. This may be perfect timing. :)
On other topics, there is certainly no love lost between PC and Mac users, eh? :o) Until another computer standard knocks Windows off the top for gaming (not counting consoles here, I'm in on those as well), I'll stick with Microsoft. - mwales, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0For over 1 week, IE has had a highly critical exploit remain unpatched. And instead of Microsoft patching IE, they promote their new Live Antivirus product! It's even in the security advisory for the IE flaw. Unbelievable.
- Akram, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This acctually came out a few days ago. infact i noticed about 4 more Live features on the Live Ideas site.
For some reason when I opened the site with firefox it showed all the Ideas, but on IE it would only show the original 4.

- ThePharaoh, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Microsoft + Antivirus doesn't work together very well. Microsoft + Virus...now there's a working combination. I use a Mac, no AV needed. On my home PC I'll stick with Avast.

You said it. Nod32 is the best antivirus I've tried so far.
I wanted to give this a go but I gotta sign up for that OneCare package, and it's only for a 30 day trial... mm no thanks. - loker269, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I have been trying it for a while I like my trend micro PC-cillin though but this program is actually quite good and it is perfect for your average PC user...it encourages backing up often, keeping virus definitions up to date, defragging your HDD, other things as well...it is actually quite robust and I would highly recommend it
- troydoogle7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I can't help think that there is a major conflict of interest here. What incentive does microsoft have to have a virus-proof operating system... I can just see bill gates now....
"hey steve put that chair down, lets see what other bugs we can put in to windows to make more money off the antivirus sales? hey vista boys, have you finished the work to make other antivirus softwar slow and our superquick. Oh yeah preinstall the antivirus so we can wipe norton off the face of the earth." Come on kubuntu guys sort out your operating system so I don't have to use Micro$oft anymore. - Enendar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0isn't this just One Care? Which sucks by the way (I'm a beta tester for it)

- Kiltak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Like I said, it's a Norton Systemwork wannabe.. Even if norton systemworks sucks big time. I prefer to keep my tools small and separated.
- Pinoycyberwebs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hope their compatible...
- Abduladu, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0It's sad that there are actually going to be people that buy this that don't see the connection of Microsoft actually being the one responsible for all the holes in the first place. Total conflict of interest.
Glad I switched to a Mac. - diggnationdevon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I plan to switch to a mac in January but in the meantime I am on Windows but I am not putting any security software on here except for the built in Windows Firewall. Only noobs need protection. I run an online scan every two weeks, I get nothing.
