- sullyaz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Well just install and ran a scan I see two things that bug me it found vnc and messanger plus as problems. I don't need my friends/family running this and removing vnc I use it to let me fix there computer when they call. and Microsoft needs to take a better look at messenger plus (but we know why they show it right ;)" it does not install spyware but gives you an option to.
Number of Found problems
MS: 17
SpyBot S&D: 2
Sorry for the long comment - BangoSkank, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I have been using this for a few weeks now, and it seems great. It caught a number of things Ad-aware and other anti spyware programs missed.
- canoba, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0how come mine only sits in the taskbar. when i try to open it or run a scan nothing happens? any ideas?

is wrong you see MS antispyware picks up stupid cookies etc some of which are of no harm if you run a scan on adaware SE and keep the log open and run MS antispyware you wil lsee what i mean - o0nac0o, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I use it and like it. Much more stable on my system than Ad-Aware SE or Spy-bot S&D. Normally they freeze up half way or make the screen all screwy.
- f89276704, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Ive been using it for 2 weeks now and like it. Its as good or better than SpyBot S&D and Adaware in my opinion. What burns me is that later it will not be free but by subscription only so let me get this right...I buy XP from Microsoft but its such a security risk that I have to buy MS Antispyware too from the same company that makes XP ? Somethings not right here. It should be free and included with XP !!!!!
- Seacor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is a excellent product. It found items that Adaware and Spybot did not find. It also has a boat-load of other utilities hidden away in the advanced areas such as IE history and cookie erasing and much more. The interface is awesome. Hopefully they will keep this free as it is the best solution out there.
- ddease2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0After using various spyware apps I just installed MS Antispyware on 5 of my pcs. It works flawlessly and found browser redirecters that NONE of the others would on their own.

Yes you are correct that you need to pay for it, just like most software that is developed for a specific niche. I don't believe it is MS's fault that they are attacked by every geek and hacker on the planet with this crap. If they were to just "pop-in" this app in their OS, they will be sued AGAIN for being a Monopoloy and forcing others to lose "business" (er, "profits").
They are in a tough situation in that they are unable to solve their problems (expeditiously, at least) because they cannot develop (or acquire) a solution to their software flaws without some smaller company crying foul and bringing the government into it.
In my humble opinion, if it weren't for Symantec, Netscape, Sun, etc. etc. etc., we would see less of these types of issues in the first place, as they would be addressed from within the OS. This considered, for those of you who like to bash "MICRO$OFT", you'd also make out better because you'd only have ONE company to gripe at or, better still, boycott definitively.
In the meantime, let's just pay the $20-30 for the solution and marvel that FOR ONCE, MS seems to be ahead of the competition! ;)
Sincerely,
Dan Dease - dmbdead41, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Microsoft anti spy-ware is Giant anti spy ware just with a different name. It was Giant one day and MS the next, And Giant was one of the best anti spy ware programs out there.
- WeetaBiX, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Its gone! they took it off!

- mike3242, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Just hope it's more stable then most version's of Windows when all is said and done.
