- SpectralSounds, on 10/13/2008, -2/+11Does anybody even use McAfee? It is such a bloated piece of *****. I think McAfee is more responsible for ***** up operating systems than viruses are.
- inactive, on 10/13/2008, -1/+9Err. I always hated the term social engineering, its an insult to real engineers.
- socialexpert, on 10/13/2008, -2/+10I will say that there are several big names in the security market and McAfee is certainly among them, so we were expecting some heavy-duty protection from McAfee.

- craighoxton, on 10/13/2008, -0/+4Since the stock market crisis started, I have got bogus e-mails from just about every failing UK bank even though I have no money there. I miss those e-mails from Nigeria...
- leodavinci, on 10/13/2008, -0/+4They have a press release like this every week... I get SC Magazine (= paper spam, don't get it) and they always have someone from McAfee or Symantec talking about the massive rise in stock scams and the like.
- s0crates82, on 10/13/2008, -0/+4social engineering = confidence scam/con artist
i hate the term too, it's like someone is trying to make it sound like it's ok. - nutmac, on 10/13/2008, -0/+4McAfee sees lack of interest in its bloated apps that protect the computer from fewer viruses than freeware.
- inactive, on 10/13/2008, -2/+5***** McAfee, use Kaspersky and you won't have any problems.

- wassim2k, on 10/14/2008, -0/+2HELLO DEAR FRIENDLY INVESTOR
My name is MUTAMBO and I am from the great nation of NIGERIA. My father has died and left me his inheritence of his company that is ready to be public next week. THE STOCK MARKET IS CRISIS but here in NIGERIA the market is healthy. I am inexperienced with markets and will need money investments in my late father's inherited company. THE STOCK WILL RISE QUICKLY but not without initial investments from you. We ask for only $10,000 US of your DOLLARS for initial investment in the stock. RICHES are promised to all who invest for when the public stock goes public next week it will rise greatly. PLEASE REPLY TODAY with personal information to start the stock going public in NIGERIA.
YOUR FRIENDLY investor partner PRINCE MUTAMBO - await your reply - Jynx97, on 10/14/2008, -0/+2Aren't press releases by companies basically the same thing as the spam email touting a "hot stock" ?
Should we just accept the spam without question because the corporations know whats best,
and have only our interests in mind? - Tdiddy4279, on 10/13/2008, -0/+1I can relate to this, I used to receive emails from random "Esquires" or people claiming to be of African royalty and most commonly Nigeria. Do they have no laws in Nigeria? The number of emails I have received from people claiming to be from this place is more than all others combined. Anyways, the deal with scammers moving from this to the stock market is just ridiculous. Regardless of if you are within the US itself, which is being hit the hardest with the failing market, you still see effects of it on your home country. In the long run you are only screwing yourself by messing with investors.

- inactive, on 10/14/2008, -1/+1Using an OS that isn't susceptible to virus attacks = priceless.
