- LeekMibles, on 11/10/2008, -0/+46A prison inmate was arrested??? Something about that sentence doesn't look right.
- Medicamusic, on 11/10/2008, -0/+41Wow, I bet the employees are ***** bricks.
- smokestack, on 11/10/2008, -2/+40Am I the only one that did the math and realized the guy who is facing 12 years for hacking a network, appears to have been out of prison in less than 3 years on his 3rd child porn offense?
I think I see a different problem..their priorities are ***** up there.. - L4mb, on 11/10/2008, -4/+20Hack the gibson!
- slyzxx, on 11/10/2008, -1/+16what was that 1800`s u last checked ?
- CatsAreGods, on 11/10/2008, -1/+13Who the hell would digg this down?!?!?!? Pedophiles?
- inactive, on 11/10/2008, -3/+15Better call P'Ta Mon. He'll fix everything.
- Jack8274, on 11/10/2008, -1/+11I actully think that you are not being buried for your hate of pedophiles, because many people do hate them, but because you said hell, thus saying you believe in Religion, meaning all statements by you under Digg law are "ignorant and stupid".
- twiddyinc, on 11/10/2008, -1/+10Holy crap! I read the title of this and thought to myself "damn, that sounds familiar." I'm currently an intern with the US Marshals Service in the Eastern District of North Carolina, and we had this guy in our custody and took him into court on Thursday. I helped with booking him and getting all of his information into the federal system then he was taken to court for his Initial Appearance.
It was just really cool seeing this posted on Digg. - inactive, on 11/10/2008, -4/+13So this should teach prison workers to not be ***** to the inmates. Otherwise they will never forget and come back to get you. Can't say i blame them
- MacGyver2210, on 11/10/2008, -0/+8I think you mean "Dead man hacking"
- smokestack, on 11/10/2008, -0/+7The article begins with the words "A former prison inmate"..
they let that "Level 3, or high-risk, sex offender " out of jail... atleast they found a reason to arrest him again..
Funny thing is, it appears he was originally arrested in 2005, meaning he was out in less than 3 years on his 3rd kiddie porn offense..
Yet he faces 12 years for hacking a network, something is wrong here.. - xmickskittenx, on 11/10/2008, -0/+6What system admin lets prisoners access a server with important information like that on it anyways? I hope this guy got fired.
- bizchris, on 11/10/2008, -0/+5Michael Scofield wanted for questioning.
- lulzitsadigg, on 11/10/2008, -0/+5The inmates will be sending them hand-made Christmas cards.
- s0nicfreak, on 11/10/2008, -0/+5I might agree with you if he were a child "rapist" and not just someone who possessed child porn. But by your logic everyone who possesses adult porn should be in jail because they may "rape" an adult woman.
- DestroyFascism, on 11/10/2008, -0/+4Dead man walking...
- betkin1045, on 11/10/2008, -1/+5wow. those prison guards are *****.
- PhYk3n, on 11/10/2008, -1/+4Maybe he wanted to be back in prison?
Hes 42, likes little kids... alot more then one would need to.
Noone would hire him
to him, prison may seem liek a good idea, place to sleep, always have food, gets to work out, and he doesnt have to pay taxes, why not? hahhahaha, i dont want to go to jail, but maybe this guy sees it as a place to hang his coat? - howea, on 11/10/2008, -0/+3not unlike some of the fresh inmates.
- rlittle66, on 11/10/2008, -0/+3Why should prisoners be allowed to have access to computer terminals at all. They (criminals) are lucky they have access to a phone and our tax dollars are paying for this *****.
- RoboDonut, on 11/10/2008, -0/+3[Insert "chroot jail" joke here]
- banthis, on 11/10/2008, -1/+3This is why we taken away the right to get a degree on jail.
- Jack8274, on 11/10/2008, -1/+3Now that it's a real pedophile, pedo bear is bad taste. You guys have no honor to the bear!
- matthekc, on 11/10/2008, -0/+2There needs to be a guidebook systems that should be internet accessible and should not!
Here is a hint if it has social security numbers it should not! - yeahhyeahyeah, on 11/10/2008, -0/+2then download the garbage file on a 3 1/2 floppy and ask young angelina jolie to hide it with gum in the boys bathroom
- mdesbiens2532, on 11/10/2008, -0/+2***** Good For Him. Damn the man. Atleast he had access to a computer. I had access to what looked to be a solid stainless steal ***** and sink combo. Wish I coulda taken it out with me and sold that on ebay...
- leerayIG88, on 11/10/2008, -0/+1"dead man cracking"
- Zelf24, on 11/10/2008, -0/+1I am employed with the North Carolina Department of Correction:
Actually it is a little known fact that the inmate and their families pay for phone usage. The various prison systems across the United States have contracts in place with the phone companies to provide telephone service to the inmates.
Inmates and their families pay high prices (here it is $1 / minute) for their phone calls. The same goes for the televisions/ basketballs/ volleyball courts/ weigh equipment that inmates use for entertainment and recreation. All recreation/ entertainment costs are paid for out of inmate monies. All the State pays for is what is necessary for the inmate to survive. (Shelter/ food, etc) - s0nicfreak, on 11/10/2008, -0/+1Let's keep the employee database on a network inmates have access to. What could go wrong?
- jman0591, on 11/10/2008, -1/+2I see what you did there.
- lulzitsadigg, on 11/10/2008, -0/+1RTFA
"A former inmate..." - leerayIG88, on 11/10/2008, -0/+1depends on the jail...some pedophiles are isolated with other pedophiles.

"A former inmate..." - Grazfather, on 11/10/2008, -0/+1Don't pedophiles (rightfully) get ***** up in prison?
- mdesbiens2532, on 11/10/2008, -0/+1*smirks* Maybe the government needs to get Shimomura in as a consultant, seeing the spectacular job he did with Kevin. Feckin tool. I'm sure he and Markoff both had everything to do with the movie being blown way the hell out of proportion. Screw the feds.

- ProfChaosOmega, on 11/10/2008, -3/+3Nice.
- twiddyinc, on 11/10/2008, -0/+0Because it's a federal case now. State penalties are pretty much a slap on the wrist.

"A former inmate..." - diggafrica, on 11/10/2008, -1/+1Smart move..now they will treat him with respect. He knows where they live.
- bposeley, on 11/10/2008, -1/+1This article is really poorly written. It suggests that the accused did these things while at the prison, but also states that he is a former inmate, which would . Since you are an inmate while in prison, you can't be a "former" until you're released. Which was it?
- PhYk3n, on 11/10/2008, -1/+1Maybe he met some other pedophiles, and then they all worked out real hard and was able to kick ass? hahhaha
- inactive, on 11/10/2008, -1/+1RTFA
"A former inmate..." - hutch768, on 11/11/2008, -0/+0As much as this article makes me laugh, it troubles me because it is obvious lack in network security and update, which leads me to wonder what other sort of systems have this sort of vulnerability. With technology always on the up and up, there has to be the counter balance of those who are out to exploit it to those who are out to protect it. In this case it was only the prison system, but tomorrow it could be a college campus or a online retailer, which could have serious implications on information security. Obviously the system needs some updates, and may signal other state and federal penetentaries to update their systems to ensure similar failures in information security don't happen again.
