IPv6 type 0 route headers vulnerability

secdev.org — The IPv6 protocol allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service via crafted IPv6 type 0 route headers (IPV6_RTHDR_TYPE_0) that create network amplification between two routers. At this time operating systems patches are being written.

  • troglocan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Many operating systems (*BSD, Linux) have already modified their default behavior and others [vendors] are working on it. The issue is also currently being discussed by IETF and a draft updating IPv6 specification will be submitted soon.
