- siestaguy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is pure theft - you're better of using your creativity to honestly earn some money.
- bryanw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1not to mention it is in no way social engineering. plus i'm pretty sure Toys'R'Us use different skus than walmart...
- bonlebon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0hmm stealing from walmart?, well from all the chains walmart has a decent costumer service, sure beats best buy or circuit city, if you hold a grudge against walmart don't steal from them buy somewhere else, for crying out loud there are enough chains in the US to buy from, move on and live a happy life.
- JBeas, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0social engineering? not really. just lame
- Harry, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Has anyone here actually ttried it succesfully?
- dv8er, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0the best way to get free money from walmart without spending any money yourself is to go to the DVDs area and look at the season DVDs and grab one of the price of your choice my friends and i go for the ones that are 70 dollars like the wire..you take that then you go to the front door(not the one you came in) and get one of the door greeters(usually old people) to give you the pink sticker you will need for the return then simply take it to the costumer service and get your money back and the tax you never paid on a gift card..go shopping or use it for gas at the walmart gas station that's what we did...free gas mmmmmm
- Gibson_sg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Dont waste your time. I use to get unopened DVDs for free from my friend that worked in distribution with Columbia House. So I'd go in there and make Walmart give me the full price refund and then go pickout better DVDs or go shopping with my giftcard. PROBLEM IS: They almost immediately take your drivers license and stop the fun. I think their policy is to take the DL on all returns, but most employees are lazy. After only two times of returning 3 unopened DVDs they blacklisted me for 6 months. Oh well...
- Gibson_sg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0they did in my case.
- G-RaZoR, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Thats so genious it hurts, Nice link!
- Yellowsuit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0anymore. you really can't con the clerk into not taking your DL number, since it is entered into the pos system and is kept and recorded in accounting.
- Akiratima, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0First to bryanw, this is social engineering because normally you'd be getting a crappy gift card back and you're using your skills of social engineering to con the clerk, who probably doesn't want to deal with you, into giving you the cash. Another way this is social engineering is getting around the fact that tweag brought up, which is them taking your drivers license number.
To siestaguy this isn't stealing, but simply exploiting the system thats in place. - raj3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0thanks for the tip gibson, but i need a little clarification, are you saying that you returned 3 dvds each trip, or just a total of 3 dvd's.
and on the upside, in my plan, i would have the wal-mart receipt anyway, so they probably wouldnt be as suspicious. but still im really worried about possibly blowing 40 bucks... - raj3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0wow, i didnt realize that wal-mart had such a loose return policy, has anyone tried buying/returning pc games? if your smart you would only need to check inside the box for a few seconds (im sure you could fake opening a pc game so it looks new) *wink*, you could then take it back a few minutes later and say you just found out you bought the wrong game, then exchange it with another game, you could do the same thing later on also
i'll give it a try this weekend, but in the meantime does anyone know if they would track your returns and exchanges? if they do then i would probably end up getting denied for exchanges after a while and end up getting stuck with the thing, which i definetly dont want.
