Margo: Precisely what you're paid to prevent.
The Plague: Someone didn't bother reading my carefully prepared memo on commonly-used passwords. Now, then, as I so meticulously pointed out, the four most-used passwords are: love, sex, secret, and...
Margo: [glares at The Plague]
The Plague: god. So, would your holiness care to change her password? - supersonicjim, on 11/09/2009, -0/+17Hack the planet!

- Tarnum, on 11/09/2009, -1/+9Hacking websites is so 90s.
I CAN HAS DOUGHNUTS? - speedbrown, on 11/09/2009, -0/+8You wanted to know who I am, Zero Cool? Well, let me explain the New World Order. Governments and corporations need people like you and me. We are Samurai... the Keyboard Cowboys... and all those other people who have no idea what's going on are the cattle... Moooo.
- slapded, on 11/09/2009, -2/+9what did your mommy buy you a puter for christmas
- Ymeg, on 11/09/2009, -2/+9it's pretty accurate
- mdraper, on 11/09/2009, -3/+10Honestly I think this is a total fakeout to cover up something. Anyone remotely capable of pulling off an attack like this has to have a better grasp on english than this. The countless hours of reading docs would give you better english lessons. Yes, there are some hackers who use leetspeak, but um.. This guy sounds like a dude with down syndrome who hacked a UK police network with a Speak And Spell.
Unless Ali.Mani is E.T., I seriously don't buy this. - jjustin01, on 11/09/2009, -2/+8What? Your mom buy a 'puter?
YO MAN, he's L33T! - Ymeg, on 11/09/2009, -1/+7Somehow I doubt he poses much of a threat.

- jester55, on 11/09/2009, -1/+6He called himself a l33t hacker. he must be l33t right?
- KibibyteBrain, on 11/10/2009, -0/+5Easy, just press caps unlock. It's right next to the any key.
- the8thbit, on 11/10/2009, -0/+5It taught me how to hack the gibson in under three seconds.
- lead2thehead, on 11/10/2009, -1/+6If somebody who uses the word L33T broke into their network, they yeah, their security really was zero%. How's it feel to get owned by a script kiddie?
- KRG12345, on 11/10/2009, -0/+4"L33T HACKER Ali.Mani".
If he were 1337, he wouldn't have used the letters L and T in the word 1337. - Ibox, on 11/10/2009, -1/+5YOU CAN'T YOU CAN ONLY REMOVE YOUR SELF FROM THE INTERNET.
- iheartbakon, on 11/09/2009, -0/+3LOLWUT
- KingFog, on 11/09/2009, -2/+5So a person upset about deaths in Pakistan attacks Durham Police's website...
These people are getting more and more desperate every time. If you're going to attack a British organization, perhaps the government's website would be good, not the website of a Police force which has utterly nothing to do with deaths in Pakistan.
And why Durham... Of all the police forces sites to attack, Durham was chosen? That makes no sense; even on the scale of utterly insignificant targets... - Xugg, on 11/10/2009, -0/+3i just painted my labtop camo colors but the keys dont work any more :(
- 1234brandon, on 11/10/2009, -0/+3Rabbit, flu shot, somebody talk to me!
Type cookie you idiot. - LimboTheLaw, on 11/09/2009, -3/+6"it's pretty accurate" LOL!!! Kudos for dead-pan sarcastic humor!

w00t_wo0t - ohreilly, on 11/10/2009, -0/+2I can just imagine this "attack" bringing the MI5 (or 6, whatever) threat level from SUBSTANTIAL to SEVERE.
No /s, either. - duzey, on 11/10/2009, -0/+2FREE KEVIN!!!!!!
- MWeather, on 11/10/2009, -0/+1http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&safe=off&am ...
He's been at this for a while. - PopcornDave, on 11/10/2009, -1/+2Or that police station really does have 0% security if a noob tool like that can disrupt them. Once they catch the perpetrator I'd be up the IT department asses over the problem like a suppository.
- studentforever, on 11/11/2009, -0/+1Long Live Freedom Fighters
- Twinnie, on 11/10/2009, -0/+1All the UK regional police force websites outsource their hosting to third party companies, usually with a CMS provided so the web administrator can update it from the force HQ. I did some work on one, they had a single Webmaster with another lady who chipped in an afternoon here and there, plus other access was granted to the press office for the news section, HR for job postings, and other little things like someone on the helicopter crew allowed to update this small page which was sort of a blog for air support call outs. The only forces which don't necessarily outsource it are the Met, ones in Scotland and the Garda (but they probably all do).
Understanding this all I can suggest is that Durham got targeted because some opportunist found a vulnerability in the system of the hosting company and then looked at a list of all the sites they host and found the most exciting one to damage. The revenge motive is probably a load of bollocks, most of the sites have little more than niceties, contact details, timetables, and forms. The actual police intranet is on a completely different system and completely disconnected from the grid - the8thbit, on 11/10/2009, -1/+2Good hackers don't need 'keyboards'.
- BoneStamp, on 11/10/2009, -0/+1@MWeather
Ya, he probably knows one exploit really well. - IamNomad, on 11/10/2009, -0/+1zero cool must have haxedd their g1bs0ns
- ohreilly, on 11/10/2009, -0/+1"the Garda"
o rly? - jagenigma, on 11/10/2009, -0/+1TEH NOOB IS TEH ROXORZ!!!
- BoneStamp, on 11/10/2009, -0/+1Ya, fair enough. My point is that he's probably not the master hacker he wants everyone to think he is.
- LarcenIII, on 11/10/2009, -0/+1Wow I guess you never heard of a script kiddie huh?
OR MAYBI IT WAS A DISGUISE TWO HYDE HIM REAL IDENTATE!
Yea I suck at disguising myself. - BoneStamp, on 11/10/2009, -1/+1Agreed. Probably an exploit in an out of date CMS they are running. He's probably very amateur.
