- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Digg is under no obligation to remove this stuff. The courts over and over have not held sites responsible for user submitted content even if it's illegal. It's just that drunken bum Kevin and his lazy ass friend Jay trying to get rich off the backs of the digg community.
- Nougat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Reddit has it up now. Wired posted it in an article on Feb 13 of this year, and that's still up. Digg is operating out of fear, not out of legal requirement.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9I'm not sure where we go from here. I've been a digg member since near the beginning. It's sad to see what it's become. It's clear digg the corporation doesn't give a crap about free speech or the democratization of information. That was all just BS so they could get us to increase the value of their corp. All they care about is selling to the highest bidder. What we need is a digg with the attitude of the Pirates Bay.
- illogicz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7I'm ready to jump ship, I cannot accept this behavior. Ban us all you want, new accounts and email aliases are made in minutes.

Digital Freedom! - johnnyOnline, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6i agree with the article... since when should digg be censoring article content?
- gregms, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Has Digg been removing content regarding this topic since Feb. 13th, or is this something new?
- aywwts4, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5So where do we go from here, Digg pulled one of the most popular stories of all time. I'm ready to jump this boat. What are my options?
- aywwts4, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4This is getting ridiculous, nobody can talk or speak on digg without getting banned and deleted. Lets talk here on reddit, I know my number is going to be up here pretty soon. I don't know if I will bother making a new account afterwards.
Digg is on a campaign of widespread user and story censorship: http://reddit.com/info/1mgig/comments - Chickenlip, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4That one had 94 diggs before it got nuked ...

When we censor ourselves out of fear, the terrorists have won. - gregms, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Well here is a story from 77 days ago:
http://digg.com/security/HD_DVD_and_Blu_ray_DRM_Cracked
It still has over 2,700 diggs. - hifiDesign, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2http://digg.com/tech_news/HD_DVD_Craziness_Kevin_Rose_implicated
- CiscoNoShut, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2this post will soon be gone also
- StillGaming, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Nice knowing you.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I doubt it. The Key isn't in the article or the posting.
- gregms, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yes except if you want one of these to really grow to get the word out of what is going on, you can't post the key within the comments either.
- diescheisse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1yeah, really....my buddy posted about the story (not knowing about digg's policy) and his account got killed.
- Cwo655321, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1appears they are using 'CYA' technique
- illogicz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2http://digg.com/tech_news/09_F9_11_02_9D_74_E3_5B_D8_41_56_C5_63_56_88_C0_4
Don't give in, keep digging. - alecks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1PEOPLE!, Please modify the number by adding other characters between them to screw their search algorithm. It's too easy for them to:
delete * where field like "%09 F9 11 02 9D 74 E3 5B D8 41 56 C5 63 56 88 C0%" - nakedlobo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Good point. Only problem is that in order for owners to keep digg up and running, they must avoid any possibility of getting their pants sued off. Some sites have been held liable for the contributions of their submitters.
Now don't get me wrong, I don't necessarily think that digg should censor, but I do appreciate digg looking out for their future. - Lennalf, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2"the terrorists have won"? hardly. Way to use the latest version of the "Hitler" argument.
What would you do if your credit card information was posted online?
your bank account numbers?
your admin password?
your garage keypad number?
You get the idea. Just because they are big, corrupt corporations doesn't mean they have any less right to protect their sensitive information. I hate DRM as much as the next guy, but equating them to terrorists for trying to preserve their "security" is *****. - BrainCoder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You ass is gonna be kick'd by Digg, 'you know?
- gregms, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@krisstrong, I know what you mean. I've had my account since Dec. '04 and just digging/commenting on these articles makes me fearful of loosing my account. Something is wrong to make people feel that way and I don't like it.
- aywwts4, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If that gets you banned I'm surprised I haven't been yet. Your comments were polite and on topic.
The anti-censorship stories I have dugg have dissapeared from my comments section faster than I can post them.
Does anyone have a separate forum or news area we can talk about this, without dissapearing moments later? - WildJimbo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@Lennalf
**What would you do if your credit card information was posted online?
I'd report the card as compromised or stolen, have it deactivated and haev the CC company issue me a new card.
**your bank account numbers?
I'd close any accounts that were compromised and open new accounts.
**your admin password?
I'd change my password.
**your garage keypad number?
I'd change that number.
-----
In each case the solution is simple. Change the number, close the accounts, get on with life and quit acting like a baby! Same applies with the decryption key. Get a new one. Move on. Why is this so hard? - KrisStrong, on 04/29/2009, -0/+0I had no idea that the key being on this site was such an issue. I noticed the story wasn't here so I posted a link to it and seconds later....my two year account of Digging was just deleted. I had to create a new account and start all over because "THEY" want to censor the site. I understand the Cover Your Ass mentality, but It seems to go against a lot of posts discussed here on Digg.com. Not cool Kevin.
- RichLatherX23, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2Perhaps they don't want to open themselves or the site up to liability in the matter. I can hardly blame them for that.
- RichLatherX23, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1My first comment should answer your question.
