- theredbicycle, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12Right, people are going to stop using google because of eight mistakes. I shouldn't have to point out the huge user base Microsoft still has despite constant flaws and holes. Granted, it's arguable that their user base is now declining because of this, but they have had hundreds of problems, not eight. And when they have problems it's usually at least eight within the past month, not YEARS
- MikeKnoop, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11For being such a large company, I am surprised they don't have MORE (serious) security incidents. Of the major movers and shakers of the industry, Google seems to have the least.
-Mike - MikeOSX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Other than having other people access your regristration info, none of the other "mishaps" seemed that major.

"Diary of a Crafty Chica: White Chocolate Sugar Skulls
i love these! it seems so obvious - replace the sugar with something you’d actually eat - but yet, what a surprise.
if i get my act together, i am totally making these for dia de los muertos this year.
sure, i’ll get around to it. along with finishing painting the toy box for my nephew, and doing nanowrimo, which i promised a friend i’d take part in this year (and actually finish the novel i’ve been working on? that would be shocking.) but other than that, i don’t really have many projects - hahahaha!
good thing i subscribed to CRAFT. yeah, right! just got my first one the other day - it’s super cute, and there are wayyy too many projects to keep me over-busy and inspired!

- noodlez, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3given the huge number of users (and probably hackers, too) that are always using google, minor mishaps are almost unavoidable. its just up to google to fix the problems, and fix them fast.
beyond that, how are their problems any different than microsoft, or any other software company for that matter? whats up with what seems like a lot of google-hate on digg lately? microsoft has security problems that come up monthly, and they patch them. they might be losing a little steam, but microsoft is not going to disappear anytime soon. - brianjlowry, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Google doesn't make mistakes.
Neither does Chuck Norris. - zbeast, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2If you system's are mission cridical for what ever your doing.
Then pay for your services. Your paying for a higher level of service.
Me, I use to run my own mail server.
I just could not deal with the constant torrent of spam.
I now just use Google and I'm happy I can get my email at work and at home.
I'm cheap I'm not willing to pay someone $40.00 a month just for email.
If I had to do that. I would go back and setup another mail server.
now that the tools to fight spam is a lot better than it use to be.
Give google a break 1 error, one minor error a year for a major coperation.
working with millions of accounts, seash thats solid!
- Modulo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Chuck Norris invented Google using nothing but a calculator, a can of beans, the spark plug from a 57 chevy and 4 eagle feathers that were given to him by his personal shaman
- Modulo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1if you actually had the slightest idea what you were talking about instead of spouting off a bunch of jargon you've overheard, you'd know exactly how little regard script kiddies get from the hacking community.
- ccanni1028, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1In case people haven't noticed, half of those "security issues" were with Gmail, which is still in BETA. It's not complete, it's not secure. There are flaws. You shouldn't be putting anything super secret on there anyway. For things that are really important, they should be digitally signed and sent through an encrypted mail system. Otherwise, who cares if someone gets into my inbox and sees the joke emails my mom sent me this morning?
- Jammerdelray, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Atleast Google is spending millions to make sure your data is secure as possible unlike lets say Aol.
- socokoolaid, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2"October 2006: Google accidentally releases Google Platypus software."
Looks strikingly similar to what I assumed was a trademark for Platypus AVI Maker. Maybe that piece of software went down the tubes, it's been awhile. - Kamino, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Amen. With such dominance in the Internet industry, it's actually pretty low. They do write their own software. (I think their webserver is called GWS, combined with Python)
Also, Google has been very decent with private information so far. They know so much about us ( inbox content - gmail, sites we visit - adsense/gtoolbar, search queries - google search ) and we haven't seen a major privacy violation. - miaow, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1hopefully hackers/crackers keep attacking them, so big business can see how big business always underestimate script kiddies and co.
- drakethegreat, on 10/12/2007, -16/+2If you actually follow the links it says nothing of that sort and you are definitely living in a fantasy world if you think thats how women talk in their blogs. Maybe you need to go outside and actually socialize dancentury...
