- Battlecry, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3It's cool that:
1. Google lets you know that they omitted results.
2. Provides a link to the complaint where you can see a list of the site(s) that they omitted.
Thereby allowing you to find what you're looking for, albeit in a convoluted way :) - NotAPoet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2If you really want to fight the DMCA, donate to EFF.

- SirSid, on 05/27/2009, -0/+1I really hope someday smbody will find something unconstitutional about the DMCA and other DRM practices and i hope IT DIES
- phantom_mullet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Since they post a list of specific sites violating the DMCA, just go to the list of sites, and you'll know where to find exactly what you're looking for without much searching. :) Actually makes things easier.

Why are they blocking it in Australia?
We don't have the ***** DMCA. - hollerith, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0is this for real? at least they told you. but what else?
- amishjim, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i think its funny that its kazaa, a program for stealing music, games and movies, complaining that k++ and the like are stealing their "Kazaa Materials". for those of you that actually read it , ha
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1astalavista baby, astalavista.com
no DMCA bullcrap. - imjustabill, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Well, some forms of DRM open giant backdoors to your system, as well as spy on your computer *cough*SONY*cough*. It also prevents users from doing entirely legal things, like loading thier music onto thier iPod/MP3 player.
- antic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Is it just me or did that letter not actually say that they are required to remove the listing of those sites. It only said that they were required to tell them that they represent the copyright owners of material that may be illegally displayed on the mentioned sites.
Does the DMCA say that search engines are not allowed to index sites which may violate copyright laws? - foggy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I just wanted to quote this so other people can have a laugh courtesy of this persons cluelessness:
...
You got to be kidding me rite do you work for the DMCA??
It is not blocked on my computer and why are you not using bittorrents anyway? - BluParadox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Does the DMCA say that search engines are not allowed to index sites which may violate copyright laws?"
Yes, if the search engine has been notified by the content owner that the sites may violate copyright laws then search engines must not link to them if they want safe-harbor status. If they did link to it no one knows whether they could be held liable or not, but I guess google didnt want to be the one who fought that legal battle. Odds are that google is better off with no decision on the case than they are taking a chance that the decision will be against them. - Dygear, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This was talked about on TechTV back when it was in San Fan, and untouched by the thing that is known as Coxcast. (They are a bunch of cox for sure.)
- gbm85, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Nothing new. They've been doing this for years.

I kow, it's beautiful. By linking to Chilling Effects and giving you the results anyway, they are giving a big fat "F YOU!" to the DMCA while still remaining compliant. - BM5k, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Welcome to 1984... Erh, make that welcome to post-911, fear mongering America.
- mindlessxd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Why are they blocking it in Australia?"
Because Google is based in the US. - Cubsman44, on 10/12/2007, -1/+016X9 said "But still, please DON'T STEAL! Ripping off music, movies and software are a primary reason why those of us who are honest have to put up with the DMCA and DRM" You got to be kidding me rite do you work for the DMCA??

- smickles, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I find it funny that they block it in Australia. That's not to say I think it's a good thing.
- TheIguana, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1"What's so bad about DMCA and DRM?"
Exactly why laws like the DMCA come into place, people don't bother to look at how it can affect their lives and others.
Iggy - white, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0k++ turned into kazaa revolution anyways, right? not that you should be using either.
- 16x9, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Did I mention how much I detest the DMCA and the toadying congress critters that made it law? And also how much I hate anti-consumer DRM-viruses?
I hate these things with a passion. But still, please DON'T STEAL! Ripping off music, movies and software are a primary reason why those of us who are honest have to put up with the DMCA and DRM. - 0001, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0What's so bad about DMCA and DRM?
