- deut, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Actually, I've always thought that Bruce Schneier is OK. He's not a media whore is he? - I don't think so. - I've always found his articles to be full of common sense and politically neutral.
Let's face it, unlike other so called security experts, this guy can actually claim to be just that. I think I'd rather trust his judgment than yours. I mean, who the ***** are you?
Tell you what, when you come up with a cypher that has withstood cryptanalysis for over a decade, I'll start taking your views on Government Security seriously - OK? - cajunman4life, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Alright, then I'll hate you for misspelling his name twice after pasting it at the top of your comments.
- saqib, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1no mention of Presidential Mandate that requires Full Disc Encryption on laptop containing agency information???? Try cracking a AES 256 encrypted HDD.

/me dives onto the laptop, shielding the innocent bystanders. - gabrielg01, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Classified data is encrypted, so even if someone steals the laptop they would have to hack through the strongest encryption systems available. Good luck with that!
- Hellfire51, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1This guy is speaking at my school Oct 2. Definitely going to see him.
- colmenar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I took a Bruce Schneier seminar in crypto aprox 10 years ago in London (I think I was the only really really interested guy in that crowd ... anyway that is another story). As a result my IT career and my life changed course. My interest in crypto algorithms and its applications grew and grew until i could see how much privacy issues, civil rights, and other aspects of everyday life are so much entangled with the subject.
I was amazed at what is happenning out there in the real world!.
This guy *is* good and most of the time he is absolutely spot on with his statements. I recommend listening to him if you can !!. Anyone from (any) government listening? Please listen to this guy!!. - shalofin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1@gabrielg01
Classified data is often residing on machines with only a couple minor differences from unclassified systems:
1. The background is red with 'Secret' in the corners.
2. There is a red SF 707(1-87) sticker on the case.
I've seen many instances of classified laptops that do not use encryption to secure the data. Most of the protection is either physical (in a secure building) or MS Windows-based login. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1"People are inherently good," Schneier says. "Otherwise, society would fall apart."
What a brilliant man with the thoughts of him. I think this scneier guy only another smartass who was in the good time at the good place but for me he won't obtain anything with this society *****.
People are inherently "chaotic", the first for everyone is himself not the family or the society and people do a lot of things to hold this. Only reason why the society not falling apart because every people selfish inside. Maybe this wasn't in the book mr scneier.
These peoples whose in the news far from wise or talented, only their spiel is good. I don't say he is not profession in encryption but who try to be expert on everything that's only a cobbler. Pls don't hate me for telling the truth. - duhblow7, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0@deut

x2 - i440, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1"It is self evident that the Pentagon can use these technologies to fortify their data, enabling the agency to maintain the security you'd expect of a government defense establishment," Schneier continued. "Now, where on earth did that laptop full of vital and classified government information go? I was working on it a just a minute ago, and I could've sworn..."
- gabrielg01, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2Schneier is full of sh*t. All these media sluts are contrarians just to get more exposure and promote themselves more and more. If some problem was solved, they'd move on searching for some other hair-splitting smart-ass issues.
It's a fact that government is inefficient and wasteful, but all that does not make people like Schneier right.
