- Detritus, on 09/28/2009, -9/+734Digging this just because Digging an article about Reddit is so meta.
- JoeF8577, on 09/28/2009, -46/+770And it looks like the virus has trashed the UI making the frontpage so asthetically unattractive it's almost too hard to view.
...oh wait, it always looks that *****. - overtoke, on 09/28/2009, -3/+454This was on Reddit yesterday! (lol)
- zKman, on 09/28/2009, -43/+400If Reddit is a cesspool, Digg is the septic tank it drains into the following day.
- lilhurt38, on 09/28/2009, -9/+254I've gotta say that it was a pretty brilliant job by whoever created it.
- theDashRendar, on 09/28/2009, -2/+235Well, looks like someone set them up the bomb.
- reaper527, on 09/28/2009, -4/+225in before
"this exploit will be posted on digg tomorrow just like all the other reddit stuff" - Bloodwine, on 09/28/2009, -1/+181The question is if Digg is immune to such an attack.
If not, can someone write some sort of exploit to keep the comment box from bouncing? kthx! - absolutelytrue, on 09/28/2009, -128/+306Good thing I don't go to the cesspool of a site.
- asgardshill, on 09/28/2009, -0/+155Yes. And to keep the first 100 comments from repeating every time you click More.
- judicar, on 09/28/2009, -17/+150Apart from the self.reddits the content is exactly the same, where do you think the power users on digg get their submissions? They usually don't event change the title.
- Phil13, on 09/28/2009, -14/+146Where do you think people on reddit get their stories? Social media is just one big link-back and link-copying circle jerk.
I don't think there's anything wrong with how stories spread from site to site like this and I really don't get why people spend the time to complain about it. It's great that information can spread so fast like this online to such a wide audience. (Sure, some of it is useless memes and other riff-raff, but for actual stories, news articles and whatnot it is wonderful.)
If reddit really does have everything first (which I doubt is the case 100% of the time), then just use reddit and stop being so self-important that you have to come tell digg users that "omg reddit had it first. digg sux. poweruser LOL". - FlyingCaveman, on 09/28/2009, -6/+101I always thought a "comment bomb" was when....... oh never mind, my comment sucks.
- inactive, on 09/28/2009, -0/+90Now if we could find who the base are belong to
- stackolee, on 09/28/2009, -8/+97Dear Reddit: I'm reading about your massive fail on digg (IAMA)
self.humor - TallestSkil, on 09/28/2009, -1/+87"Yo, dawg, I heard you like news sites where the readers determine the popularity of the news, so I put a news article in your news site about another news site so you can determine the popularity of this news while you don't determine the popularity of the news on the other site because it's being attacked."
- DarkBlueAnt, on 09/28/2009, -13/+93It's the place Digg finds most of it's articles from.
- DoctuhJason, on 09/28/2009, -1/+77Hint: It's us.
- rolls20s, on 09/28/2009, -0/+64@CoreyHalliwell
Before you criticize another's grammar, you might want to research the term "double negative." - LokitheComplex, on 09/28/2009, -1/+62Need to post on reddit about this.
- cor315, on 09/28/2009, -2/+62I don't hate reddit. I just think it's ***** ugly and confusing.
And the comment system, oh god the comment system. - theDashRendar, on 09/28/2009, -0/+57But all their base?
- Airmaxx23, on 09/28/2009, -9/+58What's reddit?
- Snoosy, on 09/28/2009, -3/+49Dugg for the most accurate analogy on this site.
- FormerBabby, on 09/28/2009, -8/+52Boom! Headshot.
- inactive, on 09/28/2009, -3/+46Terrible UI + Excessive Comment Trees = reddit. That's why I hate on it.
- twiztidsinz, on 09/28/2009, -0/+42Your base.
It will cause all your base. To belong to us. - Haptick, on 09/28/2009, -1/+42Yes. They are on the way to destruction.
- skppy1225, on 09/28/2009, -8/+49Yo, Reddit, I know you just got hacked and all, and Imma let you finish, but IE6 is the greatest website destroyer of all time! Of all time!
- Hetman, on 09/28/2009, -4/+44I speel just as poorly when I post on reedite. So I have a negative affect on both sites.
- WHealy, on 09/28/2009, -1/+41It was madness, it froze my browser for a few seconds over there, before i was able to close the tab. It happened a second time to me, but I thought I didn't mouse over any of the comments and I had to task manager kill my browser to make myself not send any more.
Good news, it got me back onto my homework. - Loonacy, on 09/28/2009, -0/+37haha disregard that i suck balls
- HappyScrappy, on 09/28/2009, -5/+41I just went there a little bit ago. It wasn't down then, but it was pretty useless because of how screwed up it is.
I revoked reddit's scripting permissions in noscript and I can still view the site so it isn't down. But boy, what a mess. - DamnMan, on 09/28/2009, -2/+36No, Its subtler than that or this ***** would have already been a dime a dozen. Just like here on digg simply typing in javascript into a comment won't do a damn thing except show up as a comment. It wasn't "removed" but the browser didn't see it as code it should run. (s)He figured out how comments were being encoded and sent to the browser and tricked it into sending real javascript.
Not unlike telling someone you can tell how smart they are by the size of their hand and then smacking them in the face with their own hand when they look. - 4321234, on 09/28/2009, -1/+35Digg: It's for reading yesterday's reddits without making your eyes bleed.
- CorbinM1226, on 09/28/2009, -4/+37@ Phil13
dugg for putting my angry thoughts into coherent words - redheadguy719, on 09/28/2009, -3/+35reddit looks like *****.
i don't like looking at *****.
digg does not look like *****.
THEREFORE: I read digg - dhughes, on 09/28/2009, -2/+34 I don't get the hate, I'm a member of both and think a bit of trash talk is fine, it's competition, but do people really think because they comment on one site versus another it makes them better than other people?
Sure the atmosphere and people are different at digg compared to reddit that's why it's fun to visit each and get a different view on a subject.
The downtime has been greatly exaggerated I was on the site (as well as digg) practically all day yesterday and never had a problem and never even noticed a problem until I saw the weird looking comments in posts. I say we should congratulate reddit on their efforts I know I'd do the same if digg was attacked and the people here worked had to fix it so we can continue reading about cats, "new york guy high fives taxi hailers" or whatever. - junkfoodjoe, on 09/28/2009, -0/+30Can't wait to see the link to it in this thread.
- UberNick, on 09/28/2009, -1/+30"Good news, it got me back onto Digg. Screw homework."
/fixed - speel, on 09/28/2009, -37/+65Reddit < Digg
- ronh, on 09/28/2009, -0/+26For great justice!
- Duncan3, on 09/28/2009, -1/+26Damn you Jeff Goldblum!!!
- CoreyHalliwell, on 09/28/2009, -0/+25Like my conception!
- Loonacy, on 09/28/2009, -3/+27Old news, i saw this on Reddit yesterday. Just another example of Digg stealing Reddit content. I just hope this doesn't affect my browser when i'm on Digg.
- MacParrot, on 09/28/2009, -0/+23 and this was on Reddit yesterday! (lol)
- iBleeedOrange, on 09/28/2009, -14/+37Never understood the reddit hate on digg, or the digg hate on reddit. I suppose it's because of the two slightly different types of humor, reddit seems more mature while digg seems to go with the more meme type. I like both.
/expects to be dugg down because he likes reddit. - rolls20s, on 09/28/2009, -0/+23Move 'Zig'!
- haharoflmao, on 09/28/2009, -22/+44Digg FTW
