- AdeleMor, on 10/01/2008, -0/+47Next it'll be animatronic dolphins.
- inactive, on 10/01/2008, -3/+38When the ***** would they smuggle weed?!?!? Not exactly a high resale value.
- aacidusX, on 10/01/2008, -3/+30im retarded, i read it as "mini-usb"
- bixby1, on 10/01/2008, -10/+36I don't condone any of this unless they are smuggling weed only. Weed subs or take 'em down.
- SteveMTyler, on 10/01/2008, -1/+25Maybe they shouldn't paint it bright blue. I mean if planes are spotting them, it seems kindof stupid.
I wish they had photos of the inside. - stifrontman, on 10/01/2008, -0/+23how exactly is making international mini sub voyages supposed to crack down on them?
"Hey, let's go smuggle (illegal) cocaine (illegal) into America to sell (illegal) for a huge profit!"
"Sure, but how are we gonna get it there?"
"Minisub."
"Awww, ***** that. They'll nail you for that now."
? - andyb747, on 10/01/2008, -0/+21and freakin laser beams on their heads
- Someguy101, on 02/19/2009, -1/+16I want a mini-sub!
- sockpuppets, on 10/01/2008, -0/+14With flames painted on it.
- blueagave00, on 10/01/2008, -1/+14$5......$5 footlong
- angusm, on 10/01/2008, -1/+14"In the town where I was born.
Lived a man who sold us crack.
And he told us of his life.
Smuggling weed and pills and smack.
We all live in a mini-submarine, a mini-submarine, a mini-submarine ..." - hoisonsauce, on 10/01/2008, -1/+12What are they made of? I'd make mine out of a baguette, hard salami, pepperoni, oil, salt, pepper, a dash of vinegar, and provolone. Wait...
- wanderson, on 10/01/2008, -2/+13As long as there's a market demand for drugs, someone, somewhere will find a way to satisfy that demand. It doesn't matter how many non-violent, first-time offenders you incarcerate, how many families you destroy, or how many people you kill, as long as the demand is there, drugs will still be sold. This only goes to prove it.
- russ3, on 10/01/2008, -0/+11And I want 10 tons of cocaine! you and I should get together.
- SiRWhxr, on 10/01/2008, -0/+10Hand made eh?
Well damn, they sure have came a long way since the Civil War - russ3, on 10/01/2008, -0/+8I and the pentagon would be very interested in your blueprints...
- mrsteveman1, on 10/01/2008, -0/+8Which is why the U.S citizens should be forcing politicians who support this ***** "war on drugs" out of office.
No point, no accomplishments, worthless waste of resources. - DeadlyTedly, on 10/01/2008, -0/+8And we in canada have... 4 subs?
2 of which "work"?
Impressive feat for narcos... proves that if there is a will there is indeed a way. - twiztidsinz, on 10/01/2008, -0/+8Foot longs ftw!
- egthareal, on 10/01/2008, -0/+8Note to self: Sub patrols are limited to pacific ocean only.
- DirtPile, on 10/01/2008, -0/+7Why not just use bigger rectums?
- VanhookJosh, on 10/01/2008, -1/+7"The Coast Guard believes the vessels are manufactured in rebel-controlled Colombian jungles, but where the designs come from, Naron can't say. "If you had that information, we'd be very interested," he told participants of a Pentagon-sponsored teleconference this morning."
LOL Good luck with that - aywwts4, on 10/01/2008, -1/+7They should have purchased some of the old world war two diesel submarines that were sold for scrap metal, target practice, or the make artificial reefs, im sure one of the small nations that ended up with them could have looked the other way while some Columbians buy a submarine.
Think about how much coke you could fit in one of those.
Hell you don't even need to surface, just jettison it out the torpedo tubes and have a separate group collect it. - blueagave00, on 10/01/2008, -0/+6If I was DEA I would have a rule. If I catch you while you are using a method that's creative, or something that I would never have thought of, then you get a free pass. Just this once, then bring some new *****.
- peabody624, on 10/01/2008, -1/+6Or they could just make all drugs available at the pharmacy, limiting amounts, setting age requirements, and requiring an ID thus eliminating the resources needed for the drug war and removing drug dealers and drug trade.
But.... drugs are bad, we can't do that!! - inactive, on 10/01/2008, -0/+5so did i…
too much time on digg, i guess… - aywwts4, on 10/01/2008, -0/+5Why would it be illegal to make or design recreational submarines? Even if they found out who were making them, its not illegal until you fill it with coke.
- adikt, on 10/01/2008, -0/+5"To boost efforts to crack down on drug-sub use, Congress last night passed legislation making it illegal for anyone to operate a "stateless" mini-sub on an international voyage."
What happened to jurisdiction or did Congress just forget that fact? - BradHAWK, on 10/01/2008, -0/+5Does the Coast Guard have an auction site? Where can I buy my seized sub???
- AMSRay, on 10/01/2008, -0/+4Congress works through the night to ban mini-subs, but they won't vote to fix the economy they helped ***** up? Vote against any incumbent. Party does not matter, if they are already there they are part of the problem and need to go.
- inactive, on 10/01/2008, -0/+4you spelled dyslexic wrong. and backwards.
- mrsteveman1, on 10/01/2008, -0/+4Bcuz being underwater is cool
- m1zl3d, on 10/01/2008, -0/+4The reason Congress passed that is so if the Coast Guard does detect/see a sub then it's less likely to a civilian sub. They didn't pass that to stop or deter smugglers.
- BaoUnit, on 10/01/2008, -0/+4No, they just want mini-subs and footlongs. You and I should get together!
- inactive, on 10/01/2008, -0/+3So if they see one floating somewhere, they pretty much know it's a drug-smuggling, (rather than civilian), craft. Which will also give them full legal grounds to search it.
bleh. - Hetman, on 10/01/2008, -1/+4The war on drugs has become so profitable now that these guys can buy many subs. If I would have known that I might have tried to be a part of it. When will people learn that the war on drugs is the problem, not the drugs themselfs. I am not saying drugs are good for people and do not cause harm. I am just saying rehab and therapy is the way to fix that problem. Trying to stop all illegal drugs from entering the country is just silly and impossible.
- ReeferChiefer42, on 10/01/2008, -1/+4Legalize it, produce it, distribute it, tax it, and move the ***** on. No more black market, no more wasted drug war.
- kelmaster1, on 10/01/2008, -0/+310 tons! That's about a quarter billion dollars worth of coke!
- inactive, on 10/01/2008, -0/+3Also, they have no jurisdiction over international waters. One in terrestrial waters, do watercraft/submarines have similar laws to cars for searches?
- dougmc, on 10/02/2008, -0/+3Google for it. It's not particularly difficult, doesn't really require that much in the way of special equipment.
- wizzroom, on 10/01/2008, -1/+3Go smugglers!
- rz8472, on 10/01/2008, -0/+2CSS Horace Hunley reference FTW
- Shaman760, on 10/01/2008, -1/+3How's that prohibition working out?
- barstegry, on 10/01/2008, -0/+2Dammit!!! I sat through a 3 hour Trend West timeshare sales pitch for the free "Guided mini-sub tour of the Eastern Pacific". Damn...
- zbeast, on 10/02/2008, -1/+3go mini sub's go... It's still very hard to fine coke even with there hard efforts to supply.
for those who want to see what one looks like look here.

They are not so much a sub as a very low observable boat. They ride real low in the water but have a visible snorkel.
Make a true sub would cost to much and be too large. - SerifTheRobot, on 10/02/2008, -1/+3Tomorrow on Digg: Air Force shoots down hand made space capsule full of drugs.
- chadpyle, on 10/02/2008, -0/+2Profit margins are too low on marijuana, even in large quantities. Besides, the best buds come from the USA and Canada.
I, for one, love the cat-and-mouse game, seeing as the war on drugs is total nonsense. - Xibby, on 10/01/2008, -0/+2My guess would be lack of anyone with enough skill in remote control, GPS, systems integration, etc. Seems like an unmanned craft launch-able from a larger vessel could make it from international waters to the coast with some basic hobby submarine gear, a decent GPS, some batteries and an electric motor, and a bit of know how.
- spinladen, on 10/01/2008, -0/+2Can get WAYyyy more if you rock it up...
