Discover Rogue Access Points via DHCP

edgeblog.net — I recently was challenged with the task of determining if any rogue access points existed on a large network, spanning multiple locations. I came up with a batch script to run against our DHCP servers. It dumps all current DHCP lease holders, and then checks them for known AP MAC address prefixes. Very useful for ferreting out bad users....

  • pingwax, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It would be more thorough to dump the mac address tables off of switches and scan those, but its a good idea.
  • bdognet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0In this case, the switches were unmanaged, so I couldn't dump the ARP cache.
