There are more countries listed, but this gives you the top 15 in ranking according to Symantec. - Sideshowslob, on 07/07/2009, -3/+23Woohoo #1. In your face China!
- rwbrinso, on 07/07/2009, -4/+22TEAM AMERICA! F YEAH!
Oh. Wait. This is crime? Crap. - kattapoga, on 07/07/2009, -0/+9They classified all pcs which have american english as their default setting as from the US? This list is useless :)
- EquesArdor, on 07/07/2009, -0/+8Glad South Africa isn't on the list. For a moment I was concerned that the Prince might not really be sending me his riches. *relief*
- TurboSquid, on 07/07/2009, -0/+7But I though Canada was the worlds worst copy right offender, that is what the CIRA and the RIAA are telling us....
- Boondoggle, on 07/07/2009, -0/+7Or does it mean the US is good at catching cyber criminals? The data is not adequate to judge what is exactly going on here.
- junkfoodjoe, on 07/07/2009, -0/+6Duh. They're also the countries that have the most internet activity in general. Tell us something we don't know.
- Contrarius, on 07/07/2009, -0/+6So basically...the countries with the largest number of computers. Shocking.
- hpodity, on 07/07/2009, -0/+6Does cyber crime include wasting my time by asking me to click through 22 pages when the information would easily fit on one? Or is that just cyber douchery
- Junkyarddawg, on 07/07/2009, -0/+5hmmm... Yeah, that list doesn't make sense. Spain and Italy in front of Russia? Seriously?
- deezeejoey, on 07/07/2009, -0/+5This article does not need to be a slide show...
1 Page, that I can scroll down would be fine.
k-thanks-bye. - Bmarofsky, on 07/07/2009, -0/+5"Sophos senior analyst Ron O'Brien cautions, however, that the [US} number may be inflated, given that other countries using American English as their PCs' default language would also be included."
WTF!?! Malware written in English=US made?? - TheUngod, on 07/07/2009, -2/+6This list just means the US is bad at cyber crime. This is a list of countries with the most people CAUGHT. Plus, what does it do about laws that differ in other countries? For instance Russia would likely be #1 if it had the same strict laws as the US about cyber crime.
- splicerslicer, on 07/07/2009, -2/+6U! S! A! U! S! A!
- beand1p, on 07/07/2009, -0/+3symantec can suck it...their software blows
- Junkyarddawg, on 07/07/2009, -0/+3I don't believe this list is accurate, I've never liked Symantec, I've decided to bury this.
- nard3456, on 07/07/2009, -0/+2Thank you, I was getting tired of flipping through pages.
- toxsid, on 07/07/2009, -0/+2symantec is junk and I would prefer not to read anything they produce as fact.
- DrDragun, on 07/07/2009, -0/+2
The margins at the top are huge...
United States 23% of all malicious activity
China 9%
Germany 6%
It drops off steeply - pooper0, on 07/09/2009, -0/+1no smiley. the list is useless
- Giac, on 07/07/2009, -1/+2CHINAAAAAA
- JohnnySoftware, on 07/12/2009, -0/+1The article says that Heartland's credit card processing network was compromised by THIRTEEN different malware programs that capitalized on flaws in Microsoft software. Usually, you look for asset redundancy in reliable computing.
In this case, there was tons of redundancy of liabilities that amplified the unreliable computing. Yet, the company had passed the credit card industry audits.
Problem is those audits were created by the credit card industry for themselves, not by an objective third party - and, they don't work. - pooper0, on 07/09/2009, -0/+1maybe the report is counting instances of symantec installs? seems to be everything that it touches turns to *****.
- harpoonhank420, on 11/10/2009, -0/+1HOVEN GLAVIN
- xster, on 10/26/2009, -0/+1well they gotta sell to people in the US. How to sell without first doing a fair share of fearmongering?
terror alert level: orange - xster, on 10/26/2009, -1/+1paid advertising, buried
- asami21, on 07/07/2009, -1/+1Who would ever guess France would be way ahead of Russia?
- Kumagic, on 07/08/2009, -1/+1Freedom, liberty, and justice for--- Oh wait.
- ryanvo, on 07/07/2009, -1/+0WE'RE #1, WE'RE #1! And that India CEO guy says our IT workers are lazy.
- bobofzo, on 07/07/2009, -3/+1Is this is in % or in total numbers?
- Boogalou007, on 10/19/2009, -3/+1Buried, wtf Digg?
