- 4AntiStupid, on 08/09/2009, -33/+937Complaining about someone using your unencrypted wifi is like complaining that people come in your house when the door is left open and a "come right in" sign is next to it.
- ruded0g, on 08/09/2009, -28/+611wow welcome to 2006
- preppywhiteguy, on 08/09/2009, -9/+447Revenge is always more fun when you know computers.

Thanks for keeping this going in 2009
Funny thing is that people were complaining it was a dupe in those threads as well. - zsz7, on 08/09/2009, -1/+316don't give RIAA any ideas
- inactive, on 08/09/2009, -4/+311Saying that using your neighbors unencrypted wifi is stealing is like saying you're stealing the music they're are playing on their stereo that's bleeding through the walls.

- CalcProgrammer1, on 08/09/2009, -2/+236I don't know, "Linksys" is pretty inviting to me...
- ronmexico, on 08/09/2009, -11/+167It's stealing internet if someone uses your unsecured wifi, yet downloading songs you didn't pay for isn't stealing? I'm learning so much from Digg.
- fuckingusername, on 08/09/2009, -6/+144gee honey I think we have a virus
- Textbook, on 08/09/2009, -3/+138I guess that's what the "classic" in the title means.
- L0NER, on 08/09/2009, -7/+139went down faster than a girl on prom night
- NeoTechni, on 08/09/2009, -1/+130Buried for using retardonics
- inactive, on 08/09/2009, -7/+128It's not "stealing" if you're broadcasting it into their living rooms. Computers often attach themselves to whatever open network they find, with no user input needed. Just turn on your encryption and quit bitching about your neighbors "stealing" something you're shoving into their homes.
- mrivorey, on 08/09/2009, -11/+130I'd disagree about the "come in" sign... unless maybe that was your SSID.
- 4AntiStupid, on 08/09/2009, -3/+116Maybe that's my fault for making the SSID "freeporn"
- inactive, on 08/09/2009, -5/+111What do I care if youre flipping images upside down? Im not leeching your wifi to surf the web, I'm stealing your bandwidth to download torrents.
- jetboyterp, on 08/09/2009, -7/+112Sure, you can go through all that, or simply encrypt your signal.
I never thought of a neighbor using your wi-fi as "stealing"...You put it out there with an open door, you shouldn't be surprised if someone's using it. Just sayin'...Do you leave your front door open 24hrs/day? No...you close it. Maybe even lock it. - phoomp, on 08/09/2009, -3/+99Exactly. Given that setting a password is part of setting up a WiFi router, my assumption is that the owner *wants* to share their Internet connection when I see unsecured WiFi.
- Handonam, on 08/09/2009, -2/+81which is why you turn them upside down and blur them when they walk in. c'mon now.
- lies03, on 08/09/2009, -4/+82The blur one sounds better. I would want to see them cleaning their monitor, or taking off their glasses thinking their eye sight is bad.
- craigaleg, on 08/09/2009, -5/+78Being mad because someone is using your unprotected internet is like leaving your stereo on high volume and being mad other people can hear your music.
- Veni_Vidi_Vici, on 08/09/2009, -5/+76Thanks! I didn't know about kittenwar. I'll be there all day. Kittehs FTW!!!!
- GalacticRerun, on 08/09/2009, -1/+70Yeah but how're you gonna read that mininova logo now!? Buhahahaha!!
- fartingbob, on 08/10/2009, -4/+67Dont exaggerate.
.....Digg users dont have girlfriends. - leprix, on 08/10/2009, -1/+62Silly Power User, comments are for laydiggers.

That's more like pulling $25 out of your pocket, tossing out the window onto the busy street, and then rushing down to see how much you can get back. Just encrypt your signals, lord of nerds. Geez... - dazparkour, on 08/09/2009, -0/+43Routers broadcast a "CONNECT TO ME IM OPEN" signal twice a second which is close to "come right in".
- publiclurker, on 08/09/2009, -0/+41Or replacing their monitors. Maybe you could get a good deal from them on their old defective ones.
- boarders752, on 08/09/2009, -2/+43@ LordNerd
encrypt ur network silly - socialPsyence, on 08/09/2009, -8/+44Normally I can read these, but in this case I actually had to stand up, turn my head as close to 180 degrees as anatomy will allow, and look crazy in front of my girlfriend so I could read this...
Well done! - johndatserakis, on 08/09/2009, -2/+37@slumper
analogy of the year - algaeturd, on 08/09/2009, -1/+34Congratulations. Worst analogy on Digg all day.
- mishabear, on 08/09/2009, -3/+36A router is basically a radio that both talks and listens. If you don't want people to use it, encrypt it or hide it. It's like broadcasting over the AM spectrum and telling people in their cars that they can't listen.
You pay for ACCESS to Internet service, not the Internet itself. You are sharing that access by freely leaving it open.
And yes, those who connect to you are going to put themselves at risk. That's a chance they take. - mdelling, on 08/09/2009, -1/+33well, first you need the knowledge to understand the instructions... go learn about IPtables and using a linux machine as a network bridge.
- mdelling, on 08/09/2009, -2/+34and have someone download something illegal that gets tracked to my IP? I'll pass...
- PeanutCheeseBar, on 08/09/2009, -6/+36http://rorr.im
- EnTaroTassadar, on 08/09/2009, -4/+34Older than the rightsideupternet.
- mk2ja, on 08/09/2009, -0/+29I got in before she went down.
- nathanwalker, on 08/09/2009, -1/+29Yeah, dazparkour is right. When you search for a list of available networks, on a protocol level your network card basically says "anyone wanna let me on their network?" and the router replies back saying "yeah, come in".
- inactive, on 08/09/2009, -1/+29Ok let's see here, extract anywhere but the steam folder and run the .exe .. what the.. what the ***** is happing to my computer EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
- barrakuda, on 08/10/2009, -0/+28comment buried as inaccurate
source: past experience - geoboy, on 08/10/2009, -0/+26I don't know much about computers other than... other than the one we got at my house my mom put a couple games there.
- RoboRay, on 08/09/2009, -4/+30If the "someone" who comes into your house doesn't walk out with anything but just sits down on your couch and watches some TV, when you have an illuminated sign next to your front door saying "Open House" you'll have a closer analogy of someone leaching your open wireless.
- tnoy, on 08/09/2009, -0/+26So, basically, you're just a douchebag.
- mishabear, on 08/09/2009, -5/+30Many routers today have the ability to increase or decrease the transmission strength.
If you don't want me to use your Internet, stop invading my space with your radio waves! - inactive, on 08/09/2009, -1/+25Or THEY could stop being a dick and approach you and offer to share your bills.
- bluemonnggee, on 08/09/2009, -1/+25i guess i just dont understand why if you are router savvy enough to do all that, that you would leave your wifi open, unless you have the malicious plan to do this, and you are setting your neighbors up for it
