- theone3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Title incorrect. States that "British Govt. Suspects China of Hacking". Actually, it appears that the British Govt knows about hacking, "Security Experts" blame China. Titles like this could lead to major diplomatic problems. The Government has specifically stated that they have no comment. Don't misquote them.

http://china-netinvestor.blogspot.com/2005/10/chinese-sex-blogger-muzi-mei.html - 4answer2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0With all the money the US sends China they can afford to have a lot of hackers/crackers on their payroll.
Maybe we should stop buying crap made in China? - Bleahdom, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0The BBC have been becoming more and more biased with their news reporting over the past few years and more "sensational" driven. The only thing you can rely on these days are biased internet articles and a cynical view.
- styryx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Oh and if China was SOOOO bad, then why would they be trying desperately to get Iran to diffuse the "situation" asking they come back to the table? and why is America trying to attack Iran?
- styryx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0And at that time you were allies with France. Things changed??
- B0jangles, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Guardian Unlimited - As limited as your imagination
Funny that a topic containing China has turned into Chinese whispers. Possible allegations slowly turn into a sea of paranoia about government nanny state, generalisations and other pointless debates on who has the greatest hackers. - BritOverseas, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hee Hee, I have worked there, for PetroChina. They knew where we were every single moment we were in country, even when we went shopping. They could find you in a heartbeat in a City of 4 million people, you would turn around and one of them was there to pick you up to go back to site to fix a problem, spooky..
I also caught one of their engineers looking at all the files on my laptop and the only question they ever wanted answered was how could they unlock our proprietry software so they could "troubleshoot" it. They are famous for it, they buy
Beware people, it will not take this country the expected 50 years to surpass us, they way that things are going now and the rate at which our technology is being stolen and copied is phenominal.. - katsanes, on 01/30/2008, -0/+0They did the same thing to us, the Japanese dude who took down Mitnik started a group for our Government (in Colorado if I recall) to counter hack them. We can't go after them formally since they're backed by their government.
- Quantic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Chinese hackers are some of the best in the world. You can't stop them!"
You probably then dont know the lengths of power the US and British governments have at their disposal. - tonage, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Seems strange that we never hear about US being suspected of hacking.
Better the US than some commies. - lollerskates, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Meh, all the superpowers hack everyone else. They just get pissed when a non-superpower, or at least, a superpower not on the level of the US, attempts to get in on the hacking.
- zagi1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Its not Hackers its Crackers, hackers do not break system security, in fact quite the opposite, hackers try to make them more secure. The term is often confused by the media hype.
- jmaskell, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Jesus Christ, read the article carefully.rnrnThe Government isn't accusing anyone of hacking, the Guardian is just suggesting who it could have been.rnrnDon't take offence to things you read in the media, there are few sources that remain neutral (although BBC News is one). The Guardian has a left wing bias and this is evident in many of it's articles.rnrnNewspaper articles are also written to sell papers and make money, it just so happens that many are posted online now. Over the top reactions are great for the writers as hype sells papers.
- noseeme, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Let's see how long it takes for England to stop caring.

- jasongetsdown, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"heh, just kiddin"
Well, its not very funny so keep it to yourself next time. - stalinvlad, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hmmm, did we see any proof? did anyone see a maillog, some headers, anything?
How do we know this is not straight propergander, hate the clever Chinese who supress freespeach and feel the need to steal our millitary secrets from human rights people?
Oh yeah, Moa was a pedo - theone3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Espionage. It's not a one way thing. Standard practice, whether you like it or not.
- Darkness123, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"and we're surprised that China is behind this?"
My thoughts exactly tsmaestro - Odweaver, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The last major hacks against the US were from china. They traced it directly back to china, and the chinease military was suspected and they are most likely at it again.
- satellite360, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You have to worry about the state of British intelligence when they say "[Users in China] have to sign on with the police if [they] want to use the internet". Erm, hello! No, we don't! That said I think it is fair to say that the Chinese government does know pretty much what we are all doing and looking at on the Internet.
- fluffyturtle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Seems strange that we never hear about US being suspected of hacking.
- eliomar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0its a digital war. People, Arm yourselves!! Embrace for war ladies and gentleman.
- Abx0r, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The Commies did it, I swear!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Well everything we use is "made in China", so hell, they own us already.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0think the solution here is to install Zone Alarm on every computer...oh wait...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0
If the Chinese had any skill at all we wouldn't be reading about this or even suspecting them. - tsmaestro, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1and we're surprised that China is behind this?
- cshepherd76, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1go China
- diargasm, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Don't we (USA) have the basic foundations of the internet in America? And aren't we the people that make the OS? I'm sure we have some people working behind the scenes. The Chinese are trying too hard to become a superpower.
- spartan777, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0bush and blair really gotta crack down on this crap. we can't let china step all over us like this. and they gotta get that lame law, that stopped titan rain from helping the fbi/cia. i'd bet it was clinton that got that law in anyway.
- Narrator, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I hope somebody over at the CIA or NSA is hacking into the Chinese computer too!
- v3xt0r, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I'm pretty sure that it is China, but from what I've seen from some botnets on IRC, how can they be sure that it actually came from the ISP in Guangdong that it 'appears' to be located from?
Who's to say those computers weren't being controlled from by a 12yo from Russia (or Germany, or even the US) via IRC??
I'm willing to bet there was some botnet action going on, even though they don't mention specifics in regards to the technical aspects of the attack(s). - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1China's development into a HiTech Nation is happening really fast! Here's a good weblog on the subject:
http://china-netinvestor.blogspot.com/ - Mirag3, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0"oldest modern democracy"

Them spy, Never,, a day goes by that they don't! oh by the way, so do we!
- styryx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0*****!! That article is from THE GAURDIAN!
THEY ARE LIARS!!
You cannot trust ANY UK or US press or media, they are ALL government controlled. Now we are all suposed to hate china? If you want to be pissed at China, do so because of TIBET!
Not for something which your government does everyday and TO YOU! - crapiolio, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Chinese hackers are some of the best in the world. You can't stop them!
- 2000, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Interesting that I get an ad for WebEx on this page... a Chinese owned video confrencing tool...
- wilf_brim, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0The Chinese government locks down weblogs. We are supposed to believe that they had no idea this was going on? I think not.
- dasbell, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Titan Rain is at it again...
I wonder if the US government will find THIER searches with the data they get from Yahoo, Lycos, Dogpile, (!Google) etc.. - kortiz, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0***** China!
