- pgm_01, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2My IP was clean, so I pulled one from my firewall logs:
Your IP (221.203.189.44) appears as an
attacker 731,066 times in the DShield database.
- outerspaceapple, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Haha! I show up as an "attacker" simply bk i use bittorrent. lol.

lawlerskates! - pdkrocul, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1From the website: "DShield.org is an attempt to collect data about cracker activity from all over the internet. This data will be cataloged and summarized. It can be used to discover trends in activity and prepare better firewall rules."
I've been submitting my firewall logs to DShield for some time now. It's not hard, read their FAQ, and help out.
As far as some of the previous comments:
1) The traffic reports are voluntary, and can be filtered; what may be an attack to one firewall may be normal for another - I know I'm not running many services on my machine, so if I see traffic, something is wrong. That's why you can look up the port and see what it is.
2) BitTorrent - I filter the BT port out before sending my data to DShield. Obviously, not everyone does; that's why you can lookup the data yourself.
3) Dynamic IP - yep, the "attacks" may have been when someone else was leasing the address. Check the timestamp of the report.
4) "I have never been an attacker" - yeah, but that malware you were running was. - EyeDye, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I got an idea! Lets let every moron who has no idea how to properly use a firewall submit their log files. Then we'll report to the world that every IP address listed in in those logs is that of a hacker. People will then add these IP address to their block lists & because of P2P afterglow BitTorrent wont work half as well as it should.
...Hmmm, I wonder if dshield.org is being funded by the RIAA, the MPAA, or both.
Lame + no digg. - agkamai, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1dshield.org's IP = 65.173.218.97
Result: Your IP (65.173.218.97) appears as an attacker 2,909 times in the DShield database.
Funny. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm running a Pix box on my home network, but I show up 136 times. I do this for a living and well looks like a BS site to me. Maybe my previous IP address holder from Comcast was a loser but...
Anyway.... Look kinda fishy to me, more liek a marketing ploy for their company. - trunkster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I've attacked people's torrent ports.. but they told me to do it!
This is lame.. - BugMeNot2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Your IP (69.232.207.138) appears as an
attacker 35 times in the DShield database.
O RLY? - azureus666, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I was listed as an attacker 15 times on 7 targets. I never used a firewall and my isp contacted me. I set up firestarter and the reports continued. Every report was from the port I was using for azureus so it must be a worm or something that never propagates outside of azureus only using whatever ports you use for azureus to attack. I am switching back to bittorrent to see if it does the same thing.
- guhappy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I dugg because I wasnt cracked. LOL
- BugMeNot2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0^lawlerskates.

- fuzzylizard, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Your IP (192.168.0.1) appears as an
attacker 9 times in the DShield database."

- ricodued, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Sorry to double-post, but check this out:
http://www.dshield.org/warning_explanation.php?fip=localhost&Submit=Submit
localhost = 14,563 occurrances - ricodued, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm running BT at the moment and I didn't show up as 'cracked'.
Strange. - burke, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0...18 times. AAAAGH! WHAT?
Oh wait. Dynamic IP + Bittorrent. That'll do it:) - theone3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0^^^ Hmm ya. I'm not sure if I'd trust this thing. LOL.
- cipnet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0o. now is shows mine, still safe :)
- cipnet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i'm on a dynamic ip, and my 192.168 address shows up. i think i'm safe enough
- tryferos, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Zaibatsu, are you running a Cisco Pix or a Frankenpix? If its a Cisco, wow, where do you work and can I have an app? If its a Frankenpix, how did you get a hold of the parts?
- OswaldKenobi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I have never been an attacker.
- Semitallsmalls, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0im not cracked and i knew that. But is there a website that can tell me if i'm on crack cause im way too high for this stuff to be weed.
- H_o_p_s, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I use BT all the time, I'm not on the list.
- LanceJZ, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Cool my IP appiers 180 times.

- ricodued, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0kmanb182, no, I did not, good point. I should probably do that.
- nathanchase, on 05/06/2009, -0/+0i'm clear. w00t!
- mikeon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0heh only 1 time, then it shows a list of the bittorent port I have open, and the target's bittorent ports
- r00ted, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0yea, not sure how you guys got cracked....I use BT _and_ gnutella/frostwire on my static IP, and Im not "cracked" lol.
I find it kinda "strange" though.....a few months ago, BT's 6881 port was "most attacked", but now it's 6346...lol. - Jalada, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is mostly no good unless you have a static IP address. If you disconnect and reconnect from the internet without a static IP your IP will most likely change. What Dshield is actually telling you is more likely to be whether the previous person who shared your IP was an attacker or not. But oh well. I digg anyway, because it's an interesting...thing..
- pcdoc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0We'll I came up clean as a whistle. Again I'm in networking and security, would have been embarrassing if I showed up. :P
- SuperFarStucker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It reported my ip address as being logged 9 times then I look at it and it is in the bt port range. Figures...
- terafunker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+06,746 times? Good f***ing Lord! It's just Bittorrent and P2P guys! No digg, this is total BS if you ask moi!
- Pureeviljester, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It said I was cracked 1,something times. I think I have AIDS now...
- cuntface, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0267, sudden onset of penile herpes.
- Kamatz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm not an attacker and i do use bittorrent, ummm.......YAY!
- Amadeus2490, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0lol MY IP's clean. . .but for how long?
- bytefoo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0If you did this for a living you would know that dshield is legit. Loser.
- pgm_01, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I have a technically dynamic IP, basically it changes after a power or cable outage, other than that it will be the same for months. Sometimes a new MAC can trigger a new IP, but even that does not always work.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0says I have 15 listings as an attacker? I dunno how that is possible, running Antivirus, antispyware, firewall and NAT router? Possibly BT?
- mrmatchgame, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Attacked 4 Million Times?!?!?!?!?!
- misantropo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0lets check out digg.com http://www.dshield.org/warning_explanation.php?fip=209.200.153.136&Submit=Submit

- pring, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Microsoft (207.46.20.60) appears 664 times...
- mypape, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I am afraid of doing this for the same reason, why put yourself on a list?
- pcdoc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Did I say it wasn't legit idiot! RIF!
