- Recluse, on 10/12/2007, -12/+108Stop using imageshack for the love of christ.
- fluffebunnie, on 10/12/2007, -9/+91Best. Hack.... Ever?
- Bogtha, on 10/12/2007, -3/+73It's well-known that music elitists dictate what appears on Amazon. Here is a prime example:

Five stars, almost a thousand glowing reviews. Obviously people with taste are promoting what deserves to be promoted. - Klarth, on 10/12/2007, -5/+71I dunno, I'm not gonna be happy until I see Green-Staind Funeral Bizkit 41 For My Crossfaded Slipkorn of a Chemical Valentine Park Against The Charlotte Chevelle Puddle of Hoobacubus Mudvaynescence For Soup 182.
- Modulo, on 10/12/2007, -6/+50"worth risking years in prison simply to put down a few emos?"
hmmm... hmmm.. umm.. man, that's a toughie... I'm gonna have to sleep on that one. - Cosmosis, on 10/12/2007, -2/+31All american rejects "alternate" cover: http://pixpipeline.com/d/e73ea86a70fb.jpg
- newsfreeloader, on 10/12/2007, -22/+50Music elitists? Give me a break, emo sucks. here is a tissue. DUGG!!
- Cosmosis, on 10/12/2007, -4/+30Imageshack took it down. Here's a mirror: http://pixpipeline.com/d/ed37d14608e1.jpg
- Lososaurus, on 10/12/2007, -6/+31There's a difference between being a music elitist and knowing when you hear ***** music.
Too bad they didn't delete them altogether. - Quag, on 10/12/2007, -2/+26http://g-images.amazon.com/images/G/01/ciu/74/15/edb0a2c008a07bfe3e80c010._AA240_.L.jpg
That's the alternate album cover they managed to sneak into the All-American Rejects page. - Quag, on 10/12/2007, -3/+27A little too far? I can't really see a sane employee thinking messing with Amazon's reputation and pissing off record labels would constitute as a simple inside joke.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+28That's actually hillarious. *Takes his time to chuckle*
- pype, on 10/12/2007, -7/+29"popular emotional rock groups"
That, my friends, is comedy GOLD! - velocipenguin, on 10/12/2007, -4/+24Music elitists tend not to listen to manufactured *****, so AFI is right out.
- indiekid, on 10/12/2007, -4/+24using "emo" as a term to describe 95% of these bands is awful. "emo" died a long time ago...
"emo" is just a term nowadays used for kids that would like to think they're unique, just like everyone else. they go to hot topic. buy their favorite bands' most recent graphic tee. don't eat dinner because they have to be anorexically thin. wear the tightest pants known to man, slap their studded belt on, and rock out with their chuck taylors.
read about the real emo here - http://www.fourfa.com/styles/index.htm - mcflynnthm, on 10/12/2007, -1/+21That may be the most terrifying thing I've yet seen on these Internets.
- jivemasta, on 10/12/2007, -0/+20Funfact: Aren't is a contraction, not a conjunction. Watch school house rock.
Who cares about the idea behind what they did. What we should be talking about here is:
What exploit they used.
If they installed a backdoor.
Wether or not the security hole has been patched up.
And wether or not other sites have this hole too.
Grow up and realize that there are more important things in life than music. They could have stolen very private information about anybody who has ever used amazon to buy things. Hopefully they only defaced it. If they got ahold of credit card numbers, it could be very bad. - Cosmosis, on 10/12/2007, -1/+20And.. "The Down Fall of Punk Rock: Da Emo Baby's": http://pixpipeline.com/d/6e0c1569cb43.jpg
- Lososaurus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19DO NOT QUESTION ZE HASSELHOFF!
- Daisuke, on 10/12/2007, -2/+20Funny, I think it stopped working just about now. I managed to get a picture of the Panic! at the Disco hack:
http://i4.tinypic.com.nyud.net:8080/1601vz9.jpg - forumreader, on 10/12/2007, -5/+22Apparently the elitists don't like AFI...
- rasterbator, on 10/12/2007, -13/+30no digg on this one because of the useless banter amongst digg users. --digg
- tehgooch, on 10/12/2007, -2/+19David Hasselhoff could kick your ass, and look sexy doing it.
- NoodleGuy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17From the Amazon comments about the Hasselhoff album:
The words flowed forth from Hasselhoff's tender lips like sweet nectar from the mouth of God himself. I found myself in a trance of pure joy and ecstacy as the soothing rhythms caressed my ear. Hasselhoff's hymns had brought me to the summit of human achievement and I was now free to look down at the wreckage and ruin that lie below. I stared into the distance and said, "Oh thine Hasselhoff, how thy music hath saved my immortal soul."
To say that the beautiful music of David Hasselhoff is life-changing would be an insult; a disservice. Hasselhoff's music is life-making, and I can only hope that you too will experience its profound gifts.
-- How could that NOT be a joke?? - thenativeraver, on 10/12/2007, -3/+18An emo webmaster somewhere in the world is crying.
- stex, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15He was crying before the hack though.
- indiefan, on 10/12/2007, -8/+22yes.
- SargeZT, on 10/12/2007, -8/+21I support the sentiment, but is it really worth risking years in prison simply to put down a few emos? Furthermore, there are just so many more bands that are significantly more emo than AFI. I get the weird feeling that it's someone on the inside of the company that took a joke just a little too far.
- iskatebad914, on 10/12/2007, -3/+16they are terrible?
- Daisuke, on 10/12/2007, -3/+16Besides AFI, the All American Rejects, or Panic! at the Disco, can anybody spot any other changed names? I'm interested, because for one some have got to be funny, and for two Amazon is likely to fix or stop all of this soon.
- Quag, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12That is just Amazon's way of punishing anyone who actually still uses Real Player.
- idonthack, on 10/12/2007, -3/+15You must not read bash.org then.
http://bash.org/?593081 - twinklyJesus, on 10/12/2007, -5/+15@loginssuck:
So, since I've never heard of these street minstrels and local garage bands you mention, I don't have "a true appreciation of music?" Please turn around and kindly stick your arrogant, self-righteous head back up your ass, thank you. - fluffebunnie, on 10/12/2007, -5/+15It's worth it.
- sayten, on 10/12/2007, -12/+22@gridpoet
Are you so f*cking pissed that you're going to slit your wrist and give the world some more air, you big blubbering vagina. - stomicron, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13Yes, grew up and started wearing mascara.
- Subcranium, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9RealPlayer makes me hurl a little in my mouth.
- zaofreek, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10That's pretty funny...but how did you manage to find these? You weren't...searching for Panic! at the Disco, were you? Shame, shame.
- Unicron, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11This whole thread is a shining example of digg going down the crapper, fast. If this was posted on /. (yeah yeah, I know), sure the old fogeys would make a few lame jokes, but you'd see them discussing the possible methods used, potential fallout etc.
All this has been is LOL THESE PPL HAVE DIFFERENT TASTE THAN I DO!!!! I'd understand if this had been posted in the new entertainment section, alongside Paris Hilton dyeing her hair or whatever, but it's right here in Technology.
For all the myspace bashing in this thread, you'd think Digg would be further removed from it but I think our median IQ is heading down to their level, fast. And yeah blah blah user-driven, but keep this up and the only tech articles will be about new DS Lite colours... - thenativeraver, on 10/12/2007, -5/+13Just goes to show, even hackers don't like emo's.
- clicksnapshot, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10Threads like this one are the reason I am glad I am open-minded about most things in life. Music can be such a wonderful and richly rewarding experience. I have found meaning and truth in many different genres of music and I am glad I don't hate any class of music wholesale without picking and choosing within it,
For the most part, I dislike most country music, but there are songs that I find to be beautiful and relevant to my life. I like a little of everything from opera to heavy metal. The popularity of an artist or song is irrelevant to my enjoying it. I won't hate popular music our of spite, and I won't forgive its shortcomings because of popularity either.
I guess the point that I am trying to make is, judge each song, each lyric, each melody, on its own merits. You might find gold in a place you once assumed was filled entirely with garbage. - mcflynnthm, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9That much is obvious. Perhaps it's part of the reason I'm so thoroughly terrified.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10Atreyu is metalcore. ***** like that is essentially this generations version of the 80's hair metal bands.
Screamo isn't even a real genre.
Blink 182 isn't emo, and nobody who knows what they're talking about has ever called them that. At best they're pop-punk, at worst they're power pop like Good Charlotte.
Whoever compared that garbage to Mr. Bungle needs to be kicked in the throat. - dutter, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9The All-American Rejects image is a user-contributed one, not a hack. The AFI change is still on its main product page though.
- WVUChrisF, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8I wonder what this means about Amazon.com's security. Hopefully this breach didn't extend to customer accounts.
- aromatorio, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8have any of you ever actually listened to afi's old stuff? black sails in the sunset, art of drowning, all hallow's EP? they were anything BUT emo. i will admit, i haven't listened to much of their major-label stuff, but i find it sad that they are being judged solely on some experimental stuff they have been doing.
buried in 3...2...1....... - Recluse, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9Hopefully some kind of award. Like 50% off of any music purchase that isn't emo. Unlikely, I know.
- voiceofcheese, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9I'm surprised to see so much music ignorance here. First off, I think this hack is ***** hilarious. Second, emo is not a genre that can be found in the mainstream music world. Emocore was started in the mid 80's, as an offshoot of hardcore punk but with emotional lyrics and song themes. It was later shortened to "Emo" when the second wave of emo bands appeared in the early 90's. I still don't know how the ***** the term Emo got applied to any piece of ***** band that has vocalists that sing like they have had their balls cut off. If you're actually intrested in educating yourself you can read this http://www.fourfa.com/history.htm

I believe the word you are looking for is "You're" -
