- pierre, on 10/12/2007, -15/+81Well then your grandfather is a good man. Grow up and have some respect for other peoples *****. Punk.
- MajorDad1984, on 10/12/2007, -17/+73Interesting...ballsy....dumb.
Listening to this poor, misguided Gen-X-er's "Why I tagged AF 1" clip leads me to believe that eventually this guy will wind up behind bars. You can go on all day about freedom of speech and expression, but let's be realistic. When an artist begins a work of art, doesn't he/she usually own the canvas? This is where taggers and grafitti artistes stumble and fall. Have at it fellas, just don't deface or use someone else's property as your canvas. Buy your own buses, trains, overpasses, etc and go to town, but until you're ready to pony up the change to do that...keep your markers and spray paint at home. - VoteQuimby, on 10/12/2007, -2/+53From the disclaimer posted on the site:
"...You, the viewer of the preceeding are hereby advised that the video does not depict a real event. It is intended for the sole, limited and express purpose of entertainment and to induce you, the viewer of the video, to think critically about freedom of expression and speech and the government's responses to the same. Therefore, and by reason of the foregoing, the producers, creators and distributors of this video hereby verily certify that the foregoing fictionalization and dramatization was not real." - Moocat, on 10/12/2007, -9/+58The problem is, some graffiti isn't art tagging, it's gang tagging, and it looks like ***** on your car. How old exactly are YOU? Do you know how much it costs to get your car repainted because some two-bit "hommie" decided your car was his canvas and has "So-and-so sucks dick" painted along the entire length of it?
While there are some real graffiti artists out there, some I would even pay to paint my car, 99% of them are not. - captaindan, on 10/12/2007, -7/+53No particular aircraft is Air Force One. That's just the callsign for whichever aircraft the President happens to be in at the time (if it belongs to the Air Force).
- doctechnical, on 10/12/2007, -1/+41Technicality: If the Chief Executive gets on *any* Air Force plane - even an old P51 Mustang- that plane gets the designation "Air Force One". A Navy plane becomes "Navy One", an Army plane "Army One", etc. A private plane becomes "Executive One".
Keepin' it Geek. - tynin, on 10/12/2007, -4/+30wonder how long before the fbi helps themselves into his life. video taping and posting felonies in progress isn't exactly too bright. that being said, hats off to him, more balls than me by far.
- TheSolomon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+18And don't forget the helicopter that picks up the president at the White House. Being a Marine plane, while carrying the president it's called, not surprisingly, "Marine One." :-)
- super_duper, on 10/12/2007, -4/+22Perhaps it was to promote his game now that he has 'street cred'.
- doctechnical, on 10/12/2007, -1/+18Ayup. Disclaimer here:
http://www.stillfree.com/legal.html
In other words, total fake. - Kitsune818, on 10/12/2007, -1/+18I used to know someone who worked on these planes (and I'm sure more information is available on wikipedia or a google away..)..
The 747s you usually see refered to as "Air Force One" are special EMP shielded/electronically hardened versions of the plane created by Boeing to strict specs. Last I knew there were three of them. Each plane has it's own unique identification. They recently (in the past few years) retired out the plane which had flow the most miles while being "Air Force One", and it had carried something like 6 different Presidents. I believe government aircraft carry the N number "N1".
See doctechnicals post below for the scoop on which planes are called "AF1" and why and when. He said it better than I.
Tagging one of these planes doesn't strike me as all that special.. but maybe more so post 9/11. These planes used to sit on the tarmac at Manchester airport in Manchester, NH around primary time while the incumbant was out campaigning. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+19"I thought this would be a perfect way to open up a dialouge [with the secret service]"

Stop commenting that he's cool for what was posted as being a fake video. Geesh. - pucosk, on 10/12/2007, -3/+17That is true, but also there are two AF1 (747s) that the US president uses. And AFAIK none of them is only a decoy, they are both used equally.
- Jon855, on 10/12/2007, -12/+24I hope he'll be jailed for this... Art is good but as long you do not deface property that aren't yours and that was a federal crime on his own behalf defacing the "Government Property"...
Nonetheless, the security sucked. I'm sure they'll be punished as well for not doing their job as they should. - whowantthefunk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12I'm torn on the authenticity of this recording. I have a couple points. First, those fences should be razor wire at the top, as with every military installation. I can't make out if they have anything or not to cover it as they climb over, but I don't see them throw anything over the top. Second, they never show the tail identification on the plane. This is how you can identify the "official" planes used as Air Force One. They tail numbers: 28000 and 29000. They are modified 747-200B's. Their real designation is VC-25A (http://people.howstuffworks.com/air-force-one1.htm). Finally, and I'm not sure about this, but Andrews has 2 large hangers designed to house the 2 AF1's. You can see them on Google Earth. Why would they have it out of it's hangar if it wasn't being prepped for use?
- netwookiee, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12People! This Video is FAKE! Click on the rhino and read the "Legal Disclaimer". Even the part of the video where the tagging is taking place looks fake!
Please report this link as what it is... LAME! - Izzie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10oh I didn't know there was a game involving that guy recently released.
let me guess, the game is about tagging stuff in secured area without getting caught by the authorities, and the game is utter crap.
now I understand what is the point of this viral marketing campaign.
that 'd make sense. - SonofMaug, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Do you seriously believe this is real? Did you even WATCH the video? Apparently he must have MAGIC spray cans that can spray 6 foot high letters that are legible from several hundred feet away IN ONE PASS. Are you freaking kidding me. I didn't even need the DISCLAIMER on the site to tell me it was completely fake. Apparently they aren't teaching critical thinking where you go (or went) to school. Kudos for a creative idea and I do like the fact that some discussion about free speech is going on, but really, this is all just a viral marketing campaign for a ***** game that no one would have thought twice about before this "incident". (By the way, Kudos isn't just a snack bar, it was a word before that.)
- TinMan, on 10/12/2007, -6/+16Detroying someone elses property is art? Would you like someone to stop by your place at 1 am and give your home and car some ART?
- iloveaudis, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11There are 2 Boeing 747-200B planes, the only difference are the tail numbers 28000, and 29000. They are both used reguarly (no decoy). Somtimes when the president flies over seas they will launch both planes on different flight patterns, but basically one is just a backup to the other. They are both kept under the same type of security. This guy is just nuts
- Izzie, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9the whole think being forged, and stated as being fake on the same website should help not to have problems with the eff bee aye

http://www.stillfree.com/mov/blockparty.wmv - treed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7I was wondering when this would show up. I honestly didn't expect it to be on digg.
This was actually filmed at the former Norton AFB, now San Bernardino International Airport. That plane is about 100 feet from my office door at the moment. It is not, and has never been Air Force One. It's a cargo plane that was decorated for the purpose of shooting a commercial. Also, only half of it was painted to look like Air Force One. The other half still has the original paint. (Well, actually, they've been removing all the paint lately for the next paint job, but it did have the original paint.) - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11"We do, however, advocate freedom of expression, graffiti as a recognized art form and the protection of consumer rights regardless of age, race, religion or political affiliation."
So if I go to his house and tag the hell out of it and his car its cool because its in the name of freedom of expression. Sweet, anyone got his address.
What an idiot. - YourTechSupport, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Well. If I inferred from the video correctly, the ran across alot of grass and tarmac, hid behind stuff, jumped over a couple fences, and probably ran like hell after the tagging.
It's not Splinter Cell, but it works. - synaesthesia, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10Real or fake, justified or not, pompous ass or daring rebel, it doesn't matter. For 42 seconds of my day, Marc Ecko had me entertained, and thats all I ask from anything on the Internet.
- agarc, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9Well, that says it all there!
This is now officially LAME! I was initially impressed, but now I feel duped. - gmanhoobie, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9It's fake folks! Read the disclaimer!! He would have been shot.
LAME! - yves, on 10/12/2007, -8/+14What an *****. I might just go tag his car with a butt nugget. His political views are are so simplistic and self centered.
- Muss, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6While I want to beleive it to be the work of a master mind who had nothing better to do than to risking a bullet to the brain just for being close to the plane no questions asked. Another part of me screams "The video has been edited" because it is not worth losing your life for a silly prank.
- munkt0n, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6has anyone read the legal disclaimer?

"You, the viewer of the preceeding are hereby advised that the video does not depict a real event. It is intended for the sole, limited and express purpose of entertainment and to induce you, the viewer of the video, to think critically about freedom of expression and speech and the government's responses to the same." - shrike2000, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Not only does he say in his disclaimer that the video isn't real, he's got a link to how they made the movie Air Force One where they describe how they bought a normal 747 and painted it to look like the real AF1. Maybe he tagged that one instead (with the cooperation of the owners)?
- iheartcrack, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9LOL! The funny thing is that you think this is ACTUALLY REAL!!!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6i really am doubting the credibility of this. i have a hard time believing that he would just paste it all over the internet if it was something that serious.
- SuperRob, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Further ... the same rules apply to the Vice President, except that in that case, it gets a "Two" designation.
- Kitsune818, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Actually, I was thinking about my earlier post.. They used to land those things at Peass AFB in Portsmouth, and thats where I saw it. Since Pease is decommissioned, I was thinking Manchester Airport. I'm actually not sure if it's been there (I think the runway isn't rated for 747s yet, although I think it is capable.)
- tibman, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7For all of you saying "it's freedom of expression! It's an artist at work! etc." You talk the talk but I challenge you to let someone tag the most expensive item you own and then we'll see what you think of freedom of expression.
- Izzie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4guys, this is just marketing as usual. viral marketing that is. that kind of marketing has been around for a bunch of years now. this one is not even rightfully made.
ever seen PBS 's "merchants of cool" ?
http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/cool/ - ElGuano, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4The bottom half of the nose is the wrong color (unpainted), and there's no presidential seal.
This image is current (Mar 2004) and legit:
http://www.bakersfield.net/photography/wallpapers/air_force_one/ - tatical, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I agree that NY wouldn't be the same with out graffiti. Cars and homes (as in houses) typically aren't tagged. Vans, delivery trucks, walls, and those metal security gates in front of stores usually are. If it looks good then most people don't seem to mind it. I know its wrong, but its one of those things that makes NY feel like home.
As for AF1, this guy is askin’ for it!
But I feel that the Air Force shouldn’t do anything because it’s a little embarrassing. What if he had a bomb instead of a spray can…? - ext237, on 10/12/2007, -0/+42 minutes into the video, he says its "illegal" to deface someone else's property and that he doesn't support vandalism. Then he talks about why he tagged the POTUS AF1. Way to prove your point, man!
- TheCheeta, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8A.) This is a FAKE. Get it? Fake. As in... poser.
B.) Graffiti on public property is simply not defendable. It is the willful destruction of someone else's property. While some graffiti may, indeed, be a "work of art," the world is not your canvas. You spray paint the wall on the side of my building, it is still my building. It did not become yours simply because you put some cheap paint on the side without my permission. Using the flag on the moon analogy is asinine... there is no relation there whatsoever. Americans were the first to put a man on the moon, so they stuck a flag there. No permanent damage... just a flag pole stuck in the moon dirt. And if you don't like it there, well... you can't even see it from here, so who cares? Graffiti, however, is almost always ugly. As I mentioned above, some graffiti is beautiful, but for the most part, it is a scar on the city.
Whoever it was above that stated that NYC wouldn't be what it is today without graffiti, you are 100% right. it'd be cleaner. - aractor, on 10/12/2007, -7/+11He in no way says to deface other people's property, in fact he specifically says not do it. There are plenty of ways to follow what he says, while staying legal. Such as asking a local business with an empty wall if you can paint it, as just an example. The point is free speech, not destruction of property.
- CaughtThinking, on 10/12/2007, -5/+9"Get off my plane."
- xhadow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I know after reading the site that this is fake but I have been to Andrews plenty of times and I can tell you that the hangar where AF1 is stored is in the middle of an airfield and there is no way even under complete darkness that you can get anywhere close to it. I think I remember one of the gaurds saying that there is a yellow line painted around it where after you cross that line they can shoot without warning.
- kc0re, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Thank you for pointing that out. Too many people are sitting here thinking you can just cut a fence and run right up to Air Force One. hell NO you can't do that. you can't get anywhere close to it.
- SuperRob, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4It was real. He did, in fact, tag that plane. It just wasn't Air Force One. It was a movie prop.
In case no one noticed, click the links page. One of the links is "The Making of Air Force One." Not how they made their video ... but the Harrison Ford movie.
He tagged the plane used in the movie. - cyzum, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4boo. didn't realize it was a fake. I hate when I'm a sucker for marketing.
- bossm4n, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7"Marc Ecko Enterprises does not condone illegal activity, acts of vandalism, or the destruction of other people's property. We do, however, advocate freedom of expression, graffiti as a recognized art form and the protection of consumer rights regardless of age, race, religion or political affiliation."
Possibly the most hypocrital statement I have ever read. I hope some gang tags his property so he can see how it feels. Freedom without responsibility is anarchy. -
