On a related note, GOD, that site looks awful. - basic0, on 01/11/2008, -2/+43Not trying to be a jerk here, but I think it's funny that you're using the phrase "months ago in 2007" to raise the question of redundancy.
- josefresco, on 01/11/2008, -9/+45repeat story or another person documenting the same process we heard about months ago in 2007?

- feshmania, on 01/11/2008, -3/+23this guy puts MySpace above Facebook? Does anyone else think that this is inaccurate?
- mattguitar, on 01/11/2008, -0/+20I get so irritated when people bitch about a story being a repeat. As of this comment there are 743 people who dugg it, presumably because they haven't seen it before. And unlike you, I have neither the patience, nor the time, to refresh the front page every ten seconds and keep track of the stories so I can be the "repeat police."
That is all - Adgeman, on 01/11/2008, -0/+16Hey; someone you know has been checking your profile. They must really like you and want to shag you. To find out who they are please give us your name, birthdate and phone number so we can spam you before they steal your identity.
Oh, and a zombie wants to hug you and write about the experience your megawall. And then steal your identity. - ryan83189, on 01/11/2008, -1/+14*YOUR

Whatever you put on Facebook is your decision. If at a later point you feel that the picture of you doing a keg stand and the follow-up where you puke on the closest cute girl is embarassing, then perhaps you shouldn't have rushed to put the picture up in the first place. This is the same with any personal details you decided your 367 friends MUST know about you by reading your profile. Deactivation denies any reasonable access to this personal information. If you're paranoid about this, there are bigger fish to fry. E.g. your credit history, customer information that store keep, and various sprawling databases that track your spending habits. - bzaks, on 01/11/2008, -0/+9Hey! Some of us never saw this!
- captainbowlton, on 01/11/2008, -1/+10facebook was cool like 3 years ago when it was actually a site for college students only, which is the only reason i still have mine, to keep in touch with my friends from school. things started to go downhill when they started letting high schoolers, then everybody have a page. thats what myspace was for dammit. add in the API and its just one mammoth cluster ***** of fail. getting verrry close to deleting my page. you know its hard times when facebook got so bad that it made me actually prefer myspace.
- dedmond29, on 01/11/2008, -5/+14I hadn't seen this before - the title is great though
- HiddenLYNX, on 01/11/2008, -2/+10looks like someone got web design and story tips from maddox, but instead of being funny and most importantly:awesome, he screwed everything up...
- ttamshadbolt, on 01/11/2008, -2/+10http://duggmirror.com/security/2504_Steps_to_Closi ...
- Stupidumb, on 01/11/2008, -0/+8DON'T YOU GET IT?!?!! People who notice repeats are the best, coolest, most attractive people in the world. It proves they are better than us and they have a girlfriend.

- RepublicansSuck, on 01/11/2008, -2/+9I suppose you were going to suggest Ron Paul?
- twocenthug, on 01/11/2008, -0/+7thank you! I don't get it either...so what if it's been on Digg before? It's not like I'm able to see EVERYTHING that goes through here. Dugg
- Sornos, on 01/11/2008, -3/+9I hear the boss is hard.
- DCstewieG, on 01/11/2008, -0/+6The point is it's ***** for them to ask you to remove everything yourself. Deleting data is no harder than pulling it up, something they easily do anytime your profile is visited.
- Worldchrisis, on 01/11/2008, -1/+7Pfft, the Gorgon on level 16 is easy. It's the Giant's Drink you have to watch out for.
- headzoo, on 01/11/2008, -2/+7It's not uncommon for web sites to keep your data after you've "deleted" your account. It avoids customer support conversations like this:
"Yes, I didn't mean to delete my account. Can I reopen it? What do you mean I have to start from scratch? Can't you just flip a switch and turn my account back on? What do you mean all my data has been deleted?"
Marking an account "deactivated" instead of completely deleting the user's data, provides a means to reinstate the user's account should they change their mind. - MonkCanatella, on 01/11/2008, -3/+8Man, this is totally not funny.
- Skooma714, on 01/11/2008, -1/+6I hate Spambook.
- Sophistifunk, on 01/11/2008, -0/+5He's that guy from The Simpsons who's always trying to make sweet sweet love to Homer.
- MonkCanatella, on 01/11/2008, -1/+6No one will ever beat Maddox. Well, not this guy at least.
- capiCrimm, on 01/11/2008, -3/+8there is a quicker way I found(on accident) a couple years back. If you "deactivate" your account, and then sign up for a new one using the same email but different info it seems to wipe the previous accounts info. Then you could just not care, since it's bad info, or write them for true deletion.
(it was two years ago, so it might not work anymore) - DennisPwnsj00, on 01/11/2008, -1/+6My thoughts exactly.
Except Maddox wouldn't have a facebook to begin with. He'd just trash it anyways. (And probably be right) - Niightwitch, on 01/11/2008, -0/+5It's crap though that you have to send two emails in order for it to happen. That doesn't sound incredibly simple.....incredibly simple would be you delete it once and it's deleted.
- AdHaR, on 01/11/2008, -1/+6You forgot your tag...
- Niightwitch, on 01/11/2008, -1/+6How many counting fingers do you have?
- idconvict, on 01/11/2008, -0/+5don't do stupid *****, problem solved
- ajchavar, on 01/11/2008, -1/+6wtf is homor?
- bot001220, on 01/11/2008, -0/+5For starters, as soon as they let anyone join, it got SLoOoOoOow as hell, just like myspace. Not to mention now that any random person can join up, you have spammers polluting the site with their garbage.... just like myspace, creating fake profiles and sometimes even offering popular people money for their accounts, again, just like myspace.
- blackmage439, on 01/11/2008, -0/+4Things change and people change. Moving up in your career is a big one. I didn't have any sort of problem with pictures of me drinking or whatever on social networking sites... until I got a job at a high school and they asked me if I had accounts on sites like that. Not to mention people have been fired for having "naughty" pictures of themselves on the social web.
- xister, on 01/11/2008, -1/+5Buried for not being able to form a decent sentence.
- bot001220, on 01/11/2008, -0/+4His ASP and PHP skills are legendary.
- ithejosh, on 01/11/2008, -3/+7Just delete his god damned account how hard is it?
- Viend, on 01/11/2008, -0/+3Dugg for this pic http://stevenmansour.com/files/pwned.jpg
- Stupidumb, on 01/11/2008, -0/+3Yup, you're right. Once someone does something, nobody else can ever do anything remotely similar or else they are just "trying to be like _____". For example, I went toe to toe with The Joker last week and people were all like "He's under the impression that he is Batman." In my defense, The Joker was trying to poison the water supply, so I had my own motivation for fighting him. Just because Batman stopped him before, doesn't mean I should just let The Joker take control of Gotham.
