- mfearby, on 10/12/2007, -1/+23Why is this a "must have" for AJAX developers? Is this not somehow useful for those of us that haven't jumped on the AJAX bandwagon, or does the submitter suffer from terminal buzz-word name dropping?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11I'm not sure why is is only fo rAjax.Perhaps the poster thought he would get more digging?
http://www.gfx.com - diescheisse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4i agree, this is a general web developer/designer reference with nothing to do with ajax.
if you want a decent, printable Prototype library reference, try this
http://www.snook.ca/archives/000531.php - peorth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4AJAX in the title == front-page article
- vlademonkey, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5AJAX must be in the title for it to get dugg apparently..
In fact, I don't see any AJAX at all on any of the pages - Xiol, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4The only reason AJAX is in the title is for diggs.
While this is a nice resource for "normal" web developers, apart from the javascript bit, what does it have to offer the AJAX crowd? Very little I'd imagine, but then, my experience of AJAX is limited to the stuff RoR provides, which hides most of the actual JS.
What I'm most interested in, is that regular expression one. Methinks I may stick that up on my office wall as a general regexp reference, seems to cover it all quite well. - ucerian, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3i was ready to buy until i saw that price. what a rip off. i'd pay $20 max for the laminated version.
- dbarrena, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I ordered the charts, and they are even nicer in physical format.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4$50? $50!!!! for a 16 booklet? Great content but you could laminate it 100 times and it wouldn't be worth $50
- kozmo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I use Visibone's free online colorchart quite a bit:
http://www.visibone.com/colorlab/
Don't know if I want to fork out $49.50 USD for their Browser Book...I'll for it to appear on http://www.ilovejackdaniels.com/cheat-sheets/ - minitechnik, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2dugg for some of the comments. there are really helpful ones here. but thats not true for them all.
- Nation, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2looks too much like *spam* for my taste
- bugninja, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I don't even see XMLHttpRequest on there. Did I miss it?
- Cglass, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I like google too, however, sometimes you don't know what you are looking for until you find it, and sometimes when stuff is grouped together on a well organized, color-coded chart, you say a-ha, and you now know what to do. They are helpful.
Sidenote: This is the second time this hasn't been correctly placed, I want people to know where this comment is supposed to go, oh well. - rilo, on 04/23/2008, -0/+1It's a nice reference for web developers, not only for the ones using AJAX. If it would be specifically aimed towards AJAX fanatics it would probably also have had a reference for functions in Prototype and scriptaculous. Nevertheless, it's nice they offer a readable version online for free. I'd love to have the booklet as well, but $30 for 16 pages - even though it's color print - is far too expensive. In comparison, O'Reilly's Regular Expression Pocket Reference costs about $10 and has more than 100 pages crammed full with information. Dugg for offering online readable version, not the sales pitch.
- dragonecc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Agree with kozmo there its a too expensive for a laminated reference chart and it has nothing to do with AJAX it has to do more Web Design its self not only AJAX
- alwiran, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1kozmo, i strongly recommend AGAINST laminated version (50$). i made a mistake to get one (after having paper copy already) and its way worse. Bulky, heavier, harder to use. 30$ paper version is *fine*. also i think they have section of this book as "cards" for 10$.
- dude3609, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1same ucerian.. well, i wasnt going to buy it.. but i still think its a rip off.
btw, just noticed this new comment system for digg.. :D :D - chris9902, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3it's not a color chart, maybe you should pay attention
+digg for story - jallen7usa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Thanks for the http://www.ilovejackdaniels.com/cheat-sheets/ link!
I agree w/ most that this isn't really AJAX. But it is a handy reference none the less. - cross, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm surprised that this appears to be pretty popular, I thought Visibone products were pretty well known in the web development world. Also, why does this have AJAX associated with it? This tool set is pretty appropriate for any type of web development and existed pre-AJAX.
- zoransa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Great thing I havce one in my office
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1He posted high quality jpg on his site... how hard would it to be to print them on a color printer then laminate them... let me tell you it's not hard at all... :)
- Vulpes, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1First of all...this isn't a cheatsheet on AJAX, its on XHTML Java, and while it's a great tool for a web designer it is a bit outdated if you are "on the edge." This was made in early 2004. Over 2 years ago.
- vvaduva, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1What the crap...everything has to be AJAX related? It's a freaking BOOK to help a designer...This is bs...no dig and seriously misleading title. The submitted should be kicked in the head...AJAX style!
- benig, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is a worthless thing. This is an advertisement. We've dugg an advertisement onto the front page.
- daltonvoss, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"they simply doubled my productivity"
sure they did. ***** rip-off if you ask me. spam, lame, no digg. - MrKite, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I've been using http://www.w3schools.com/ for years. It's not a dead-end site... it's always available. It has all the references, tutorials, etc.
There's no need for books. - gambl0r, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is so true. I've saved so much time with the JS section of the VisiBone spiralbound cards... Something like 'What the hell is the number of a text node type? 1? 3? Something?' Searches like that always bring you to some useless experts-exchange thread that are filled with ads and usually don't help. The visibone cards are great for that. I wish they made some for other languages like ColdFusion and ActionScript :|
- mfearby, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I've never heard of this "Prototype" javascript library, but one thing's for sure, that non-scrolling layer in the middle of that linked page is fricken annoying!
- MrKite, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1no digg. Too expensive for references you can easily find on the web for free.
- Drgn547, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I've had this reference for a few months now, and being a web designer/developer, it really comes in handy. Yes, there are free references on the web, but after you use this reference a few times, you know where everything is, and don't need to waste your time sifting through potentially dead end sites looking for answers. digg. Web reference available for $24.99 at: http://www.thinkgeek.com/clearance/6de0/
- holdemcharts, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1"AJAX in the title == front-page article"
LOL, I agree. Oh, and don't forget to check out my Ajax Poker Strategy Guide at http://www.HoldemStrategyCharts.com - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You can get pretty large images by clicking on the thumbnails... not the highest quality they could be, but good enough to read everything on them.
- alwiran, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0lord, exactly right. Apparently most folk here don't do AJAX development, so its hard for them to digg our woes.
- vintageozarks, on 01/31/2009, -0/+0This is one of those quality sites that needs to rise to the top in searches for html color code and much more code. FiveStar Site
- jonasg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0What does RoR got to to with this ?
- lordmax, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0hmm, you guys are strange. i'm AJAX dev too and these charts are very handy. my biggest AJAX pain is that you constantly has to look up some crazy stuff in JS/CSS/markup/DOM in 30 seconds for single feature. having all that on few pages instead of 1400p DHTML "tome-o-death" is great... ordered!
- moerfi, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Very good site. I will like to print some page out. Thanks for this.
Really great. +digg
Cheers, murphy - Drgn547, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Asynchronous JavaScript And XML (AJAX) ...Ah yes those silly acronyms
- Daedrik, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1After a quick glance at the link, I noticed:
- no mention of AJAX anywhere on the page
- misspelled description of product: "technolgies"
- lamination discount, from $55 to $49.50, is not "at least 10%," it is "exactly 10%"
- website looks like it was designed no later than 1998
- most of the tag/parameter info is already in free HTML editors
- half of their "testimonials" aren't even complete sentences
- "(CLICK ON THEM)"
- Describing the thumbnails: "Isn't it cool how it looks like thumbnails of the sixteen pages?" - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0yeah me too. Then I downloaded all the pages and printed them out on the office color laser.
- dbavaria, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4Ever heard of google? I find google easyer for quick reference than any book/cheatsheet I've ever owned.
- MagisterJoe, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Could people please quit freaking out about AJAX. It's been around for years...I hate that my carreer suffers so badly from buzz words.
My boss: "Do you know RoR"
Me: "It's not necessary for this project."
Mb: "You can do anything with RoR. Go learn it." - wangjingfei, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0good
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0sdafffffffff
- Tripcast, on 10/12/2007, -9/+5nifty +digg
- lordmax, on 10/12/2007, -5/+0very nice. i love their mouse pad !
