- gzim, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7maybe an explanation on what the hell Zooomr is would help?
- Atomic1fire, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2Zooomr is like flickr for Openid users
http://openid.net/
http://openid.net/wiki/index.php/OpenIDServers#Identity_Providers
Openid is just a url based way of loging in
you still have username and password
but your entering an url so you are redirected to the correct login
and able to login without signing up
aka if you enter openid.aol.com/username you get to the aol login - mikepictor, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7did you go to the link?
photo hosting site. - sewalsh, on 10/12/2007, -10/+2***** flickr clone
- raoulpop, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Added some links inside the post to help folks understand things a little better.
- jonathono2000, on 10/12/2007, -8/+1You just need to know that it is the most unintuitive website ever made. And on top of it they are trying to be everything to everyone which is horrible business model (no niche market, which in the Web 2.0 world is very important).
If you want to share photos use Flickr
If you want to share photos and stories on a map use Grapheety
But please don't use Zooooomr its attempt to be everything to everyone will be its downfall (and now that I think about it thats probably why its so unintuitive—eurka!)
- Atomic1fire, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2Zooomr is like flickr for Openid users
- sewalsh, on 10/12/2007, -8/+1d'oh. duplicate.
- DJSdotcom, on 10/12/2007, -12/+6The founder, Kris, is a HUGE ***** with an equally large ego. I was eternally turned-off to Zooomr after reading this moron's comments over at TechCrunch: http://www.techcrunch.com/2006/06/16/why-is-flickr-afraid-of-zoomr/
- TechCF, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6***** founders is not good, but his product is better for my use than flickr.
- dscx, on 10/12/2007, -7/+3Thanks for the link, I'd heard this before but never seen proof of his arrogance. To be honest i really don't think flickr has anything to be worried about anyway, they have a loyal and bustling userbase which counts for a lot, and a far better interface than zooomr (even version III looks like it fell out of the ugly tree).
http://www.smugmug.com is the only rival I've ever enjoyed using, flickr could do with some new features recently such as being able to sell your work, and printing services outside the US. The smugmug developers seem like a great bunch too with a real passion for photography and improving thier service! - forteller, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8What do you mean? I just looked through the whole discussion and even if there might have been some misconceptions, he had good manners and was reasonable all the time.
- d000d, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2Hypeware if I must say myself. This product is going nowhere.
- trevorcarpenter, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6I've been using Zooomr for months now. It is twice as easy to use as Flickr, and their features are more meaningful for the amateur/non-Paris Hilton worshiper.
- ezkash, on 03/10/2008, -0/+1Zoomr really is better. http://dvoksmd.tooz.whyi.org/
- ezkash, on 04/04/2008, -0/+1Looksie fun. http://admitch.info
