You calling it a bad language simply means you don't know how to use it. - Jeconais, on 04/17/2008, -1/+10Why do people seem to think that error checking is for losers? let's just presume that teh internets never break, that files are always available, and that network congestion is something you get from eating bad EtherBunnies.
If you're going to have a tutorial, in any language, not just PHP, surely you should try and provide some best practice ideas - not just a 30 second script that helps perpetuate the idea that PHP IS TEH SUCK.
PHP is like any languauge, poor programmers will write it poorly. - DarkSunlight, on 04/17/2008, -0/+9http://framework.zend.com/manual/en/zend.gdata.you ...
Much better... - inactive, on 04/17/2008, -1/+5wow the standard of comments here is almost as bad as ##php on freenode. almost.
- inactive, on 04/17/2008, -0/+3Just because something is popular doesn't mean its right. How did Bush get voted in twice -- the majority voting for him.
- daok, on 04/17/2008, -2/+4Yeah and 4 of 6 top viewed website are in ASP.NET (http://weblogs.asp.net/scottgu/archive/2006/03/25/ ...
Who care about if Python, PHP or ASP is better, they finally do all the same thing... - blackjack75, on 04/17/2008, -0/+2PHP is a very laxist language but it is definitely a very powerful language. You can write quick-and-dirty stuff in a few lines to test out things but you also have access to more modern features that many people just don't use. If you use classes properly and exception handling it can be a very elegant language.
- proton, on 04/17/2008, -0/+2I agree with you in a way but tutorials are generally meant to convey how to perform a specific task as simply as possible.
- deadmoo, on 04/17/2008, -0/+2Yes, cause you know that having every single function in the same namespace so that you have to memorize prefixes like preg and gz is an awesome way to design a language runtime.
- insanewriters, on 04/17/2008, -0/+1But... IBM documenting Zend framework when... Zend's documentation much better... wait, IBM giving PHP advice?... ahhh... my brain hurts.
- hankosky, on 04/17/2008, -2/+3IBM Uses Firefox! Woho!
- lcarsdeveloper, on 04/17/2008, -1/+2"But PHP dirty as *****!"
If you want people to value your opinions, you could at least try to make some sense. - maxino, on 04/17/2008, -0/+1Another example used Youtube Google Ajax search API

- jgeek, on 04/25/2008, -0/+1and here you can see how to do that in JSP: http://www.servletsuite.com/tips/youtubejsp.htm

No you cant.... - cannonballtrane, on 04/17/2008, -0/+1Using SimpleXML for complex XML content like that is not the best idea - I'd use XSLT or an XMLReader.
- exinco, on 04/18/2008, -0/+1how this things, integrated? i know it require high skill

- SiCk666, on 04/17/2008, -5/+1Yes, very solid proof a blog hosted in asp.net...
PHP is the best languague for web, thats a fact. And for donkeySays, its really clear if you use properly structures. Take a look to some frameworks to learn that. - wrboyce, on 04/17/2008, -5/+1shame php sucks...
- inactive, on 04/17/2008, -12/+2PHP does many things. Many popular websites, including Digg, uses PHP. But PHP dirty as *****! I am switching to Python.
