Government is just like Windows 95, the longer you run it the more cluttered and useless it becomes until it reaches a point where its actively getting in your way and preventing you from accomplishing what you want. Every time there'd be something that's the slightest bit questionable (#1 and factcheck.org), the people demanding answers would cite it as proof that there's something wrong and pester even more.

    I'm not saying that there aren't questions, just that the tone of every inquiry that I've seen like this is both ripe for controversy and seems to just be looking for any little thing just so that they can say they were right. (kind of the same way that the '00 Florida recount rallied parties)

    Only allow lobbys that we ALL can find ourselves in, like the aged or infirm. All other lobbies need to GO forever.

Politicians and business owners have been pushing for the Fed to be transparent for decades. Now the Fed is trying to operate in more secrecy. Central Banks have a real knack for doing what they want to do with little government support.

  • sparsely, on 11/30/2008, -1/+8Disallowing lobbies and special interest groups from contributing to campaigns, influencing laws, etc does not preclude free association. You can make all the groups you want, just don't expect that as a group you'll be given the right to contribute to, support, or put forth candidates or legislation.
    You do that as individuals. If you want to let the group influence YOU and its voluntary members, that's perfectly fine. It's when it crosses the line where it starts meddling in overall public policy that is becomes disruptive and undermining.
