- inactive, on 11/29/2008, -12/+115Increasing transparency, by the way, is a key feature of Mr. Obama’s government reform agenda, according to the site’s “Ethics” page.
http://change.gov/agenda/ethics_agenda/ - mulling, on 11/30/2008, -0/+73Forget putting change.gov under revision control--put all legislation under version control and put it all on the web.
- Bisquick, on 11/30/2008, -9/+61I'm not an "Obamite," and I'm digging you down for being wacko.
- bariswheel, on 11/30/2008, -5/+46For a second there I thought we were speaking of Bill O'Reilly. Not used to seeing Obama and Tim O'Reilly in the same sentence on Digg. Good to see it nonetheless. Tim is a clever man and I'm sure Obama will lend an ear. radar.oreilly.com is a great blog, btw.
- Barackalypse, on 11/30/2008, -14/+54Revision control? We need a complete system wipe and re-install. Government is just like Windows 95, the longer you run it the more cluttered and useless it becomes until it reaches a point where its actively getting in your way and preventing you from accomplishing what you want. And yeah, I know this was about "change.gov".
- michaelpinto, on 11/29/2008, -14/+4916. Why are wingnuts so nutty?
- perre, on 11/30/2008, -19/+52This is a great age to live in! After a decade of secrecy from an administration who actively cloaks their responsibility... how refreshing this dialogue is.
- novenator, on 11/30/2008, -9/+41the wingnuts think economic reform=socialist=evil communist
same way their simple minds equate his name with islamic terrorism - bradleyjx, on 11/30/2008, -3/+28Most likely, it's because once those 15 would be taken care of, there'd be another 15 made which answers would be demanded, and the cycle would be repeated. Every time there'd be something that's the slightest bit questionable (#1 and factcheck.org), the people demanding answers would cite it as proof that there's something wrong and pester even more.
I'm not saying that there aren't questions, just that the tone of every inquiry that I've seen like this is both ripe for controversy and seems to just be looking for any little thing just so that they can say they were right. (kind of the same way that the '00 Florida recount rallied parties) - Takfam, on 11/30/2008, -0/+25"The Executive Power shall be vested in a President of the United States of America whom must liek mudkips. He shall hold his Office during the Term of four Years, and, together with the Vice-President chosen for the same Term, be elected, as follows: LOL *****!"
- rikwakefield, on 11/30/2008, -7/+31Communist?
- elpresidente408, on 11/30/2008, -2/+25Let's convert all laws and government documents to Wikipedia entries
- JoeSpaceTime, on 11/30/2008, -11/+33I'm confused. Is Communism the one where workers are exploited by the financial system? ...oh, I think that's Capitalism, right?
- dissolutionman, on 11/30/2008, -6/+26Yeah, I was with you until "communist."
- unknownpoltroon, on 11/30/2008, -1/+18Problem is that freedom of association thing in the bill of rights. Now, if you wanted to ban corporations from participating, that would be different.
- andymci, on 11/30/2008, -2/+19The times, they are a changin'. Never thought I'd see a "wtf is Tim O'Reilly?" comment posted on Digg.
- fogster, on 11/30/2008, -1/+1716. If Obama isn't a US citizen, why didn't McCain or Bush or *anyone* other than people on the Internet ever bring it up during the campaign? Don't you think the GOP and McCain's campaign would have looked into it? And don't you think that it would have been a big deal if they found he wasn't a citizen?
- Juice7, on 11/30/2008, -2/+17I'm still waiting for him to openly take a position on the existence the Federal Reserve System, which is one of the driving forces behind the ***** up of this economy. That's transparency for you, though he didn't have much of a choice if he wanted to get into the White House...
- ceredron, on 11/30/2008, -3/+18@Globalroamer
he's just commenting on your craziness. Ignore him, I don't think you can understand what he's saying, anyway. - Bith8654, on 11/30/2008, -5/+20Are you calling the President-Elect a communist? I dare say you're coming off as very anti-American...
- jgzman, on 11/30/2008, -2/+17I should point out that some of those are Privacy, not Transparency.
- fromonesource, on 11/30/2008, -2/+16Juice7, he did take a position on the federal reserve when he appointed former fed chairman Paul Volker to his economic board: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Volcker
- inactive, on 11/30/2008, -9/+22Abolish lobbys and special interest groups. If All people cannot benefit from the lobbying efforts, then remove the lobby.
Only allow lobbys that we ALL can find ourselves in, like the aged or infirm. All other lobbies need to GO forever.
We ALL will age and anyone of us can become handicapped. Remove any and all other lobbies. - zephc, on 11/30/2008, -9/+22GlobalRoamer: -1, Troll, Reported
- NikoKun, on 11/30/2008, -3/+15Everyone that doesn't agree with GlobalRoamer is a liberal dem... LOL
Nutjobs can't see their own craziness. - Taiyoryu, on 11/30/2008, -2/+14As good as it is to voice your suggestions on digg, you're better off putting them in the change.gov suggestion box.
http://change.gov/page/s/yourvision - homercles337, on 11/30/2008, -5/+17The stupid is strong with this one...
- Spartacusprime, on 11/30/2008, -0/+10I think, in theory, version control would be a good idea. Legislators need to know that they weren't elected to pull the wool over our eyes every day.
- ashura001, on 11/30/2008, -1/+11If Bush was Vista then that means that he was actually pretty good after the first service pack. I'd say he was more along the lines of ME.
- homercles337, on 11/30/2008, -5/+15On GlobalRoamer's profile hey says: "You should ALWAYS double check every fact and source against a known reliable source."
So where is his ***** coming from? No way is it a known reliable source. In fact, its likely some ***** crazy, rabid right-wing idiot on the radio. So GlobalRoamer, how about a source for your "questions"? - Spartacusprime, on 11/30/2008, -1/+11Are we still on about this? This is what is tearing the Republican Party apart.
Get over it, move on, and prepare for 2010. - shanehonda, on 05/19/2009, -5/+15Old tires on a new vehicle. Experience + New Ideas = Success in Obama's mind. He's not even in office yet so let's give it a chance to see if it works before bashing the guy.
- brianpeiris, on 11/30/2008, -1/+11Revision history of Iraq War
07:00, 4 July 2009 Barack Obama (Talk | contribs) (24,965 bytes) (Undid revision 248195204 by George W. Bush (talk) "I am not opposed to all wars. I'm opposed to dumb wars.") - thredden, on 11/30/2008, -2/+11I have seen how adding version control to an already in place work-flow dramatically increases efficiency.
My room-mate just asked how many engineers are in congress. We both answered at the same time, "Not near enough." - freeth1nker, on 11/30/2008, -4/+13Your right-wing fundamentalist Christianity is showing.
(Actually I realize it's only a single Bible verse and not a long-winded fire 'n' brimstone rant, but I'll go ahead and assume you're a Christian fundy. It explains your obsession with Obama's "American-ness" and paranoia over his supposed ties to Islam [question 14 is hilarious; have you ever renounced Christianity?].) - kelmaster1, on 11/30/2008, -2/+11transparency? Obama? Good luck. If they give us transparency it still wont be the whole thing. Politicians and business owners have been pushing for the Fed to be transparent for decades. Now the Fed is trying to operate in more secrecy. Central Banks have a real knack for doing what they want to do with little government support.
- sparsely, on 11/30/2008, -1/+10You should've stopped after the first sentence. Our votes and our government are the voice of the American PEOPLE, not the little organizations they form.
- rald84, on 11/30/2008, -0/+9you mean how its operation is superficially very easy to understand but then to harness all of its power you have to be an experienced user?
- diggnatious, on 11/30/2008, -0/+9Perhaps if lawmakers were accountable for their process, we wouldn't have had ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY BILLION IN PORK added to the recent financial markets bailout bill. Lawmakers would then form laws based on their necessity and not on people's petty whims.
- DOCNM, on 11/30/2008, -2/+10Yawn
- novenator, on 11/30/2008, -1/+9"Tim O'Reilly is ...a supporter of the free software and open source movements. He is widely credited with coining the term Web 2.0."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tim_O%27Reilly - SirMildred, on 11/30/2008, -3/+11For real?
- venicerocco, on 11/30/2008, -0/+7Bush was an abacus.
- 15charmaxwtf, on 11/30/2008, -0/+7Well, if it's harder to get laws written and passed there will be fewer stupid ones around. Though, on the other hand, it'd be more difficult to repeal stupid ones.
- Night0wl, on 11/30/2008, -2/+9No really, who the ***** is tim oreely?
- sparsely, on 11/30/2008, -1/+8Disallowing lobbies and special interest groups from contributing to campaigns, influencing laws, etc does not preclude free association. You can make all the groups you want, just don't expect that as a group you'll be given the right to contribute to, support, or put forth candidates or legislation.
You do that as individuals. If you want to let the group influence YOU and its voluntary members, that's perfectly fine. It's when it crosses the line where it starts meddling in overall public policy that is becomes disruptive and undermining. - FairDinkumMate, on 11/30/2008, -1/+7Does it matter where you get ideas on how to run an auto company?
There's obviously no one at the auto companies right now that have a clue so I'd think that any & all suggestions would be welcome... - arvvvs, on 11/30/2008, -0/+6This has something to do with the topic how...?
- lilricky, on 11/30/2008, -0/+6I would find it interesting if any Americans were aware that both the DNC and the RNC are both massive lobbies. But even if they were aware, I doubt America could abolish them.
- Spartacusprime, on 11/30/2008, -2/+8Right, and watch the economy tank under a 22% sales tax.
