- PureForm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6The very first web page doesn't have HTML tags.
- kuzkos, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I've seen a few "Very first web pages ever" around. What proof do we have that this is it?
- meatbites, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Whatever the case may be, it sure as hell is an old page.

Quite the antique. - romeyinfc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I thought the very first page was Al Gore's home page...
- haimtime, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2we need evidence
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Funny how the "first" web page has links to a couple dozen other web pages. ^_^
- Fayettemat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1you have a point if would be on a napkin or maybe a piece of paper
- arunforce, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Let's ask Bush for an investiagtion.
- robertgoodwin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1How can the very first web page have links to other web pages? Which came first, the chicken or the egg?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1And IE still can't render that page properly.... switch to firefox people!
- wstfgl, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I'm afraid it's not valid HTML: http://snipurl.com/sir0
- Ikioi, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Funny, here's a picture of the Very First Web Browser: http://www.w3.org/History/1994/WWW/Journals/CACM/screensnap2_24c.gif as referenced from http://www.w3.org/People/Berners-Lee/WorldWideWeb.html
The page on his screen shot looks nothing like the page you've linked to. IIRC, the first web browser was made at CERN, for CERN, by someone at CERN. The first page would be about CERN, would it not? Besides, that page is related to the history of HyperText, and if you are doing a history of HyperText, it far predates the Internet. The word itself was coined in 1965 by Ted Nelson. I'm sure someone made up a "napkin" example back then, which would really be the first web page, even if it looked nothing like anything that actually was created. But, that's just IMHO. - capiCrimm, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0It's not funny. The original webmaster could predict the growth of the web and therefore linked to pages before said pages existed. It's like the President nuking Iraq before they could harness WMDs, because he could forsee the future of terrorism.
- Sell, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1Really? How do I know?
