- JamesWilson, on 10/11/2007, -2/+8Adobe Flex has planned an api identical to Google Gears', also to use SQLite in it.. it is a proud time for SQLite in the world of web development. Further pushing the boundaries of what is a web-application.

- DanaK, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2devils advocate for the moment. Unless I'm wrong, wouldn't this then allow the crafty person to see the guts of your schema as SQLLite will have to store some of it locally. Thats kind of a scary prospect that many of us work hard to avoid easily divulging.
- mweels, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1If a browser is not a thin client then what is?
- Hush, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Settle down beavis, what are you even talking about? When has the U.S. put a damper on web apps, link please?

- jonintc, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Adding new articles is not a problem, but you will need a strategy if you allow users to modify existing articles while offline. Any offline modification cannot implement locking, therefore any data commits must first compare the last-modified-datetime with the user's original offline copy to determine if the article has changed. Very interesting stuff since I'm not really a DBA.
- mgajda, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1If only XForms & CSS3 would be accepted with equal enthusiasm, I'd be first to switch all my apps to pure Web-based creatures...
office apps come first. - mattmcm, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Thanks for the personal insight. Truly fascinating.
- mgajda, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Why isn't it standard yet?
- Delphium226, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1It can be argued that the HTML etc. running in the browser is the thin client and the browser an element of the hosting environment. But yeah, you're right in a way.
- bjerkeweb, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0WTF are you talking about? Last time I checked, the government isn't forcing me to use any desktop applications.
- Jleagle, on 10/11/2007, -3/+1Front page and just 3 comments?
- Craga89, on 10/11/2007, -7/+4It's hard to imagine that we could one day be running only web based software... but I doubt it, especially now that net neutrality has basically gone to the *****. ***** american government thinking they can decide what's best for the world, GET OFF YOUR ***** HIGH HORSE!
