  • tataNZ, on 05/12/2008, -0/+0I wonder if your techniques apply to adult teaching. I've been teaching at tertiary level for the last 3 years in New Zealand. Programming is by far the paper with lowest marks/high withdraw numbers in our programs.

    I think programming is not taken seriously at secondary and primary level (at least in New Zealand). This produces two big problems:
    - lack of interest/awareness on studying programming (IT in general) at tertiary level, creating an enormous skills shortage in the IT industry.
    - low pass rates / high withdraw numbers for those who face programming for the first time at tertiary level.
