- AndrewDB, on 04/13/2009, -1/+2610. Goldeneye Breakdance: This egg was recently discovered. Apparently when playing Goldeneye 007, if the user tilts the cartridge during gameplay, this causes the characters to breakdance.

I'm going to call ***** on this one. - scy1192, on 04/13/2009, -0/+23Yeah, crazy things happen with pretty much every game if you cartridge-tip.
- lnxfi, on 04/13/2009, -0/+21the one from goldeneye - is that really an easter egg or more of the game going bugging out?
- KSUdesigner, on 04/13/2009, -0/+19I wouldn't really call that an easter egg either. Easter eggs are intentionally put there by the developer. Tilting the cartridge makes the glitch happen, but I doubt it's something the developers intentionally did.
- doctechnical, on 04/13/2009, -0/+19Agreed, sounds to me like "tipping the cartridge" is causing it to lose good electrical connection to the unit and "unpredictable results may occur". I'll believe otherwise when someone opens up a cartridge and posts pictures of the tilt sensor.
- udayd, on 04/13/2009, -0/+11personally, i'm a fan of about:robots in firefox
- RandomLog1c, on 04/13/2009, -0/+10For the Electrical Engineer*: How to Play Asteroids on your Agilent Oscilloscope
If you have access to an older version of an Agilent Oscilloscope (The 54600+ series I think) but its the green crt ones, but it has a floppy drive for storing screenshots. Go to the save screenshot and when you enter a filename type "STAR_WARS" without the ""'s and save the file. You'll start up a session of Asteroids! (Or some aptly named version of the game)

- farmerbb, on 04/13/2009, -0/+6The iPhone Dark Castle egg is a complete hoax. More proof that TechCrunch is just full of crap.
- matt.rubin, on 04/14/2009, -0/+6you tip the cart to the left or right. It makes the contacts on that side not connected to the console anymore.
- ScottyDelicious, on 04/13/2009, -0/+5Gort! Klaatu barada nikto!
- ileftfark, on 04/13/2009, -0/+4Not ***** at all, except the 'recent' thing. I believe it only works with the Japanese version, and sometimes, the Japanese like to take something silly and make a big deal of it. Not sure if anyone noticed that about them.

found this on wikihow - PReitz, on 04/13/2009, -0/+4Has anyone tried the Dark Castle one? I was going to, but it sounds like it's along the lines of "Use alt-F4 to see a list of cheats".
- IHaveIssues, on 04/13/2009, -3/+6Don't worry, she's all lathered up and getting clean.
- Scrappy1850, on 04/13/2009, -1/+4what is "cartridge-tipping"? i played a lot of 64, but never owned one. do you tip the whole console? or does it wiggle a little in the slot?

4. Google Earth Flight Simulator: If you open Google Earth, version 4.2, and press Ctrl-Alt-A (”Command” “Option” “A” on a Mac), Google inserted a flight simulator that lets you simulate being in the cockpit of a F16 fighter jet ot a lightweight SR22 propeller plane.
killed at least 30mins before i made this digg.
Also, LOL @ 1:03 of the goldeneye easter egg vid. pure awesomeness. - mrBitch, on 04/14/2009, -0/+3Instructions to Gort, the robot (from "The Day the Earth Stood Still")
PS: the re-make is not worth watching, just watch the original instead. - Samurai77, on 04/13/2009, -2/+5Put car in reverse and try again.
- Khast, on 04/13/2009, -0/+3Usually easter eggs are put in intentionally before the product is released. Bugs usually occur in the varying system configurations once it has left Beta. (Apple seems to have this problem solved, by restricting the hardware configurations....)
Not everyone has exactly the same computer set up, so in events that they do test for bugs in Beta testing, they might not find all bugs because the software has problems with obscure nobody has heard of your video card, or you use unofficial drivers for your video card because it runs better than the official ones....or you have installed hardware in your computer which is kind of rare, or obsolete that might not have been considered in Beta....or hell, you tweak your registry slightly different than normal, which causes problems.
Not that this is an excuse for programmers, but not all bugs are detectable until it is released into the public. - mrBitch, on 04/14/2009, -0/+2Also, for those who don't know how to quit out of Emacs, hit CTRL X, and then CTRL C
- kyle212, on 04/13/2009, -0/+2Wow that was funny
- ngmcs8203, on 04/13/2009, -0/+2Wow, that easter egg is annoying as hell.
- pbmoe1585, on 04/13/2009, -0/+2Mammon slept. And the beast reborn spread over the earth and its numbers grew legion. And they proclaimed the times and sacrificed crops unto the fire, with the cunning of foxes. And they built a new world in their own image as promised by the sacred words, and spoke of the beast with their children. Mammon awoke, and lo! it was naught but a follower.

(10th Edition) - ru1dt, on 04/13/2009, -0/+2There's one in Excel '97 that leads you to the hall of programmers:
http://spreadsheetpage.com/index.php/oddity/excel_ ... - SteveMax, on 04/13/2009, -0/+2That's not an easter egg. Emacs is almost a full OS (its critics say it only lacks a decent text editor); and the games are an integral part of it, they can even appear on the menus and/or on tab completions. Try M-x dunnet (M-x=Meta+x; that's either Option+x or Esc, then x), M-x 5x5, M-x pong, M-x solitaire, etc.
- inactive, on 04/13/2009, -6/+7I miss my wife.

- Yage2006, on 04/13/2009, -0/+1What no zombie jesus Easter egg ?
- SushiCW, on 04/13/2009, -0/+1These are all pretty stupid.
- asnider, on 04/13/2009, -1/+2The iPhone thing is, apparently, a hoax, and the Golden Eye thing is a glitch, not an Easter Egg. Way to research your article before publishing it, TechCrunch.
- LostSoul83, on 04/14/2009, -0/+1I thought the Christmas easter egg in Rise of the Triad was pretty cool ten years ago. It was funny to blow up enemies while listening to Christmas music. There was also the one in Team Fortress Classic where the grenades were presents on the game's birthday.
- Dacvak, on 04/14/2009, -0/+1Yeah, I'm pretty sure that one's 100% fake. Not sure why it made the list.
- borez, on 04/13/2009, -0/+1I like this OSX terminal egg.
http://www.eeggs.com/items/43501.html - mrBitch, on 04/14/2009, -0/+1They also forgot to mention the eMacs easter eggs :
http://www.eeggs.com/items/43501.html
-- as well as not mentioning that the original "virtual" easter eggs originated from the early days of Unix :
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Easter_egg_(media)
" ... Easter eggs found in some Unix operating systems caused them to respond to the command "make love" with "not war? "
And the interesting Easter Eggs found even earlier :
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Al_Hirschfeld#Nina
" ... Hirschfeld is known for hiding the name of his daughter, Nina, in most of the drawings he produced since her birth in 1945." - ngmcs8203, on 04/13/2009, -0/+1You mean these? http://www.metacafe.com/watch/392359/photoshop_eas ...

That works in all versions of Google Earth, not just version 4.2 - mrBitch, on 04/14/2009, -0/+1+1 to you for best reply to the "miss my wife" post.
- cmuska902, on 04/14/2009, -0/+1There were some cool Easter Eggs in some older office programs. I believe it was Excel 97 or older that you could fly around in a 3D environment, also there was a pinball game in one of them as well. Check out EEGGS.com for everyone ever.
- inactive, on 04/14/2009, -0/+1I was not aware of this. Thank you, sir or madam, I found it quite amusing.
- Gotar, on 04/13/2009, -1/+2ufia please go suck an easter egg
- MarvelZombie, on 04/14/2009, -0/+1My favorite was the Cool Edit Pong easter egg.
- Elranzer, on 04/14/2009, -0/+1At least most of these are actual Easter Eggs. I remember back when people were calling the statue of liberty with the beating heart in GTA4 an "easter egg" (which it wasn't, it wasn't hidden enough).
- YumYumTruck, on 04/14/2009, -0/+0isnt that photoshop? i'm talking about flash player. I remember seeing this on the internet when I was in the middle of a 30-day free trial for it, and tried it, and it actually worked.
- alejandroventur, on 05/10/2009, -0/+0a funny way to see the mess of developers
