- GTPilot, on 07/20/2008, -0/+6So basically the article is saying that the 'strong plusses' to running Mysql as opposed to Postgresql is that lots of sites use it and there's software that doesn't support Postgresql. Worthless information.
- CrispyBeef, on 07/20/2008, -0/+3Article states the obvious, I was hoping for a more in-depth look of why PostgreSQL is better to use than MySQL. I use MySQL daily for development and database hosting and have limited experience if the former. Would like to know more than this brief overview
- malcam, on 07/20/2008, -0/+2MySQL is the de facto database server for Linux web hosting (due to it being the default database server for control panels, plus most customers expect it). If a developer chooses Postgres over MySQL, they limit their choice of web hosting to those that specifically support Postgres, or those that offer expensive hosting with a learning curve - like VPS or dedicated.
