- mawh, on 12/14/2008, -3/+88Just wondering.. but has he ever had a patient named Tommy pickles?
- staeiou, on 12/14/2008, -0/+85His name also gets censored from iGoogle's Digg applet. Crazy. "PC World: Dr. ***** Can't Get an E-Mail Address"
- InspectorGadget, on 12/14/2008, -0/+65DrLibpoopz@aol.com
- vinceislegend, on 12/14/2008, -1/+57It's like the movies. You're allowed to kill as many people as you'd like, in as violent a manner as you would like, and still get a PG-13. Just don't say "*****".
- andrewlotta, on 12/14/2008, -0/+56Dr. ***** can't get an email address either.
- Cerealkillr, on 12/14/2008, -0/+46Yeah...... And Xbox 360 won't let me use my real name..... Mick
Just gotta get used to it - SuperMoses, on 12/14/2008, -2/+43I don't think he'll want an email address at the domain inmymouth.com
- michaelpinto, on 12/14/2008, -1/+40And add to that all the grief you'd get with a name like that as a kid...
- TunaFishGangsta, on 12/14/2008, -1/+38"it was only the beginning. Fast-forward to July 2008, when ***** decided to upgrade their home Internet service from dial-up to broadband"
This is the most ***** up thing about this article. - valleyvideo, on 12/14/2008, -0/+34Dugg solely to see what comments are coming.
- Broomie, on 12/14/2008, -1/+31I remember watching Rugrats when I was younger and all the parents talking about Dr. ***** and than my mother walking in, hearing the word ***** only and yelled at me because she thought I was watching South Park... on Nickelodeon... at 3pm.
- TheEngineer2008, on 12/14/2008, -1/+30Dr. ***** seems quite upset about it, as if he can't understand why it's an issue.
- UezeU, on 12/14/2008, -1/+27Herman ***** has a horrible name. He should change it to Larry *****.
- Layne, on 12/14/2008, -0/+24This is pure poppycock.
- funkyloki, on 12/14/2008, -3/+26I knew a kid in school named Rob D. Cox. The middle name was Downes, after his mother's maiden name. So his full name was Rob Downes Cox. It really wouldn't have mattered what the first name was, because they killed it with the middle and last names. Seriously. Rob Downes Cox.
Parents really need to drop their maturity level when naming their children, just so they can be sure the name they give won't lead to a childhood of torment and torture.
Just sayin'. - cards, on 12/14/2008, -0/+23It's also censored that way on the digg front page if you're not signed in.
- Tippx, on 12/14/2008, -0/+23Digg doesnt like it either: http://img2.imagetitan.com/img.php?image=18_libshi ...
- sleepless, on 12/14/2008, -0/+19I'll give him an email address at my domain.
- NecroSexy, on 12/14/2008, -0/+18And God forbid the nipples' cameo.
- Cowbane, on 12/14/2008, -1/+19Well, Facebook doesn't allow people over the age of 100. It tells you to enter a "real" birthday.
- kevinzak21, on 12/14/2008, -0/+18I'm going to just go ahead and say it. Wasn't Dr. ***** the child psychologist on the Rugrats?
- jerbaker, on 12/14/2008, -2/+19"It's Jewish."
Thanks for the clarification. I thought it was Pakistani. - snafflepaffle, on 12/14/2008, -7/+24Ummm....
Old? Wasn't this about a year ago?
(actually 6 months or so... I looked it up.)
http://digg.com/search?s=*****&submit=Searc ... - fanshanable, on 12/14/2008, -3/+19P.I Staker? Right! "Piss Taker!" Come on!
- AmyVernon, on 12/14/2008, -0/+16How is ***** worse than *****?
- Layne, on 12/14/2008, -1/+16You think Xbox is bad? EA is the most censor happy company I've ever seen. The chat filters for their games filter out things like "god" and "bong", in addition to tons of acronyms.
- KayinAngel, on 12/14/2008, -1/+15And i can't greet someone by typing ****o on Playstation Home.... go figure
- TherealSpencerJ, on 12/14/2008, -0/+14yeah I noticed that too, I thought that was the actual title.
- DamnMan, on 12/14/2008, -0/+13My mother a school teacher taught a kid named *****. pronounced "Shi-theed". Poor little *****.
- Smokes, on 12/14/2008, -1/+14My buddy had the same problem on facebook, since his name is honestly "William Gates". This brought to mind the line from Office Space where Michael Bolton says "No, he should be the one to change his name, he's the one that sucks!"
- JasonsLan, on 12/14/2008, -0/+12you must be in San Francisco..
- inactive, on 12/14/2008, -2/+14How did they get away with that on Rugrats anyway. I mean, there's definately people out there who would be like, "dr. *****, ***** ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, NOOOOO!!!. Our precious snowflakes can't be corrupted by such vile words. And then the lawsuit
- hafniOum, on 12/14/2008, -2/+13His name could have been worse.... *****. I work with someone who it's his name. It's Jewish.
- crzdmn, on 12/14/2008, -2/+13I can google "dirty sluts f***ing" and find lots of porn, free videos etc. But someone can't have an email with a sexual term because it's offensive? To who? Don't you think that's something that should be kept between me and the people I'm emailing?
- KyleGoetz, on 12/14/2008, -0/+10That was Dr. Lipschitz. But thanks for playing. http://www.imdb.com/character/ch0037111/
- absurdist, on 12/14/2008, -0/+10Subtlety is lost on Diggers.
- funkyloki, on 12/14/2008, -2/+12I believe they are both Jewish names. And they are both equally bad in my view. Kinda of like having the last name Butkus.
- neutronphaser, on 12/14/2008, -0/+9One of my client's surnames is Bastard
- pintomp3, on 12/14/2008, -0/+8lucky
- mishabear, on 12/14/2008, -0/+7trust me, this isn't a determination that IT makes. Someone much higher up is the *****.
- funkyloki, on 12/14/2008, -0/+7Lester would be better.
- kevinzak21, on 12/14/2008, -0/+7Ah, *****. Didn't see this. Just commented above about the Rugrats reference. So glad someone else had no life, either. :P
- puscifer919, on 12/14/2008, -1/+8Rugrats, anyone?
EDIT: I see this was mentioned earlier in the comments. My bad. Still, though. - skyshock1, on 12/14/2008, -2/+9I know, I can't get one either.
-***** McHymanstain. - BoboTheHobo, on 12/14/2008, -1/+8Nexon's Combat Arms is worse. I haven't played in a long while, but if I remember right, "nip" is censored. Including in the word "s***er*. There are quite a few others as well.
- CobaltScribe, on 12/14/2008, -0/+7I remember an online chat filter that replaced anything programmed as obscene with "BLEEP". I remember many a night discussing the novels of Charles BLEEPins and the poetry of Emily BLEEPinson.
When people become so hung up on individual words, genuine mature conversation is impossible. - mbtria, on 12/14/2008, -1/+7One of the phone books had a legal tussle with a dentist named Darling who insisted his first name be listed as Dick, not Richard.
The censorship is nonsense, and there should be automatic redress for any company discriminating against a legal name. The EFF is talking about holding censors liable for the consequences of their actions.
http://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2008/12/internet-cens ... - brainflakes, on 12/14/2008, -0/+6Um, don't you mean ***** Piss ***** ***** ***** ***** *****?
- LonelyTylenoL, on 12/14/2008, -0/+6Ahhh...that show brought back so many good times....good times...
- ookamiwarrior, on 12/14/2008, -0/+6Read the article and don't assume. It was definitely not that easy.
