- webresources, on 11/03/2008, -0/+15FlexiGrid & jQuery File Tree are my favorites considering their ease of usage & functionality.
- megamod, on 11/03/2008, -1/+12An AJAX list where everything is Actual AJAX? w00t w00t
- SirChasm, on 11/03/2008, -1/+10Some of those are useful, but others you should really know how to do by hand if you're using AJAX at all. There's nothing more annoying than a clueless web dev who uses pre-made scripts for everything because he/she hasn't got a clue about what's actually going on.
- astroslut, on 11/03/2008, -0/+9A great tech article, and on the front page a day before the election.
I'm pleasantly surprised. - Griny, on 11/03/2008, -0/+9Great list!
- gerryk, on 11/03/2008, -1/+8Dugg for actually being AJAX
- bigtimslim, on 11/03/2008, -0/+7I see similar main menu navs with the little rounded corners everywhere. I don't think this looks that good or bad.. just wondering where it came from.
- arcticsoft, on 11/03/2008, -1/+7Agreed. I think anyone using a javascript library for ajax should have at least written one ajax request by hand using the old XMLHttpRequest. Then at least they would have some clue as to how this all works instead of just copying code and claiming the site as theirs.
- R27creativelab, on 11/03/2008, -1/+6A good read
- Livewired, on 11/03/2008, -0/+5This is what I miss about digg :(
- flidge, on 11/03/2008, -0/+4i always find something else in these posts :) very interesting, has rekindled my programming flame a little!
- Jektal, on 11/03/2008, -0/+3Welcome to "Web 2.0", have a free gradient background.
- Mardala, on 11/03/2008, -0/+2I will you help you this far: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ajax_(programming) ... If you expect someone to say "google it" then most like you should probably "google it". I'm just saying.
- ScreenRant, on 11/03/2008, -3/+5I don't know Ajax, but I know enough to tell this is a great resource.
- scoot2006, on 11/03/2008, -0/+2Pretty good book if you want to learn:
http://books.google.com/books?id=VTmXAT702S4C&dq=f ... - lvizon, on 11/03/2008, -0/+2ajax is more about usability than appearance
- springo, on 11/03/2008, -0/+2AJAX = Asynchronous JavaScript and XML
You don't need anything but your regular setup on the server-side. The user has to have a javascript-enabled browser (all browsers support it now). - serif69, on 11/03/2008, -0/+2http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ajax_(programming)
Generally uses XML, though not required. You could use LAMP with AJAX if you wanted to, just add a Javascript client-side behavior layer to interact with the PHP. - kevisazombie, on 11/03/2008, -1/+3I have to admit. I had no idea how HTTP requests worked until AJAX began getting popular.
- xptoast, on 11/03/2008, -0/+1Just because you have tools to help does not mean you should not know how it works or how to modify it and fix it later. Tools are meant to aid you not to make you lazy and useless. I made mapkeys for where I work that save tons of time and create huge jumps in accuracy but I still make them learn the hard way first so they know what the tools are doing so if they run into a variation of the problem they know how to fix it. Still need to know the hardway first.
- linksus, on 11/03/2008, -0/+1Ty, Bookmarked
- xptoast, on 11/03/2008, -0/+1I have been trying to build a site for three years but always lose confidence in my ability to learn the code. I know a good amount of html and started php but lost hope when I couldn't do it from memory as much as I should be able to. I have to much to learn. Lost in a sea of code I am.
PS...if anyone wants to help me build the site I was working on I will give them some profits of it when it is running...just thought I would put that out there. - SummerNight, on 11/03/2008, -0/+1w00ts w00ts
- findhostcoupons, on 03/22/2009, -0/+1Thanks man, very useful information and good examples!
- flidge, on 11/03/2008, -0/+1php is nice and easy to pick up, its quick and simple and easily progressed. dont give up, just pick up a book like wrox PHP for beginners and follow it through a couple of times :)
then once you have the confidence, using the techniques in guides like this wont be too hard! i would offer my services if i was good enough :p - mahadiga, on 11/04/2008, -0/+1Fundamentally speaking
Web 1.0 = Synchronous Communication
Web 2.0 = Asynchronous Communication

- kevisazombie, on 11/04/2008, -1/+1AJAX == Asynchronous JavaScript And XML
but these days its more: HTTP requests that don't require a page refresh. - MrWii, on 11/03/2008, -1/+1AJAX != Javascript.
- diggwebq, on 03/17/2009, -0/+0My webservers run on Linux, and I like what I see from Ajax, so this has me wondering: Can you run AJAX on a linux webserver? (I've heard before that it is .NET only, which would make me think it's Windows only. :( Can anyone help, or point me in the right direction? (Plz no "google it, idiot", etc)
http://www.zestrx.com/product/viagra-soft-tabs.htm ... - diggimator, on 11/04/2008, -1/+1It looks like a ***** list. Most wanted by whom? I admit many of the technologies listed have buzz, but that doesn't always equate to "most wanted," and there's no guarantee they'll still be around 3 years from now.
- LibertyKnight, on 11/06/2008, -0/+0Sounds cool.

- sublimemm, on 11/03/2008, -3/+1dont worry, digg isnt getting better. I saw this a couple weeks ago.
- lvizon, on 11/03/2008, -4/+2there's no sense in reinventing the wheel every time when there's an easier solution.. i mean, do you really want to be bothered with the monotony of say, coding redudant forms over getting in the meat and potatoes of your app? i know what you mean though, and fortunately these script junkies seem more prevalent in the php world than in rails. i'd go nuts.
- inactive, on 11/03/2008, -5/+1This is all common stuff. Use Google to find what you need if you don't already know about it.
